Low-Income Seniors and Vets Might Be Eligible for Free Internet

From Northampton County: Internet vouchers are now available in Northampton County to low-income veterans and seniors. Recipients must meet HUD income guidelines to be eligible for twelve months of free basic internet services. The vouchers can only be used for new and Internet First (federally subsidized program for RCN or Service Electric) customers. Internet service must begin by November 30, 2020.

To apply for an internet voucher, call Northampton County:

· Seniors can call Area Agency on Aging at 610-829-4540

· Veterans can call Information, Referral, Emergency Services at 610-829-4800

In July, Northampton County Council approved $175,000 to purchase Wi-Fi annual vouchers and electronic equipment for underserved senior citizens and veterans within the county.

  1. I find it interesting that the agencies cannot list the monetary requirements to receive these benefits. You have to call or fill out a form to get the information. Same goes for questions regarding fuel oil and electric bills. Why the secrecy?
