From Politico: "Much of the blame is being directed at [Brad] Parscale, who was ousted as campaign manager in July amid mounting questions over his stewardship of the reelection effort. Campaign aides say Parscale miscalculated by raising questions about Biden’s mental acuity, which hurt the president among seniors."
Blogger's Note: The latest Muhlenberg College poll shows Biden with a 59-39 edge among Pennsylvanians aged 65 or more.

There may be something to this. I love discussing politics with my parents (77 and 80) who are life-long republicans. My views are very different from their's but I love hearing what they have to say. They are both very turned off by attacks on age. Particularly since both candidates are old men. And are sensitive to issues affecting seniors. My father's theory is that both candidates have some level of cognitive decline. But Biden's seems worse since his baseline intelligence was far higher than Trump's.
After the debate Trump was poised to close the gap and make this interesting. Potentially storm to the finish in 2016 fashion. Trumps 2nd debate performance easily cleared the low bar set by the first. For 90-minutes he was able to focus somewhat, control his impulses and talk about real policy distinctions between him and Biden including things that resonate with Pennsylvania voters. (fossil fuels for example) When Trump communicates why conservative ideas are better without all the nonsense and sideshow circus stuff he can gain ground.
Now his campaign is pivoting back to laptops and Hunter Biden. This fires up the Trump base but doesn't get much traction with Independents and undecided voters who prefer to hear about policy and philosophical differences between the candidates.
Now the Trump campaign is doubling and tripling down on casting doubt on election results. This will get more frenetic over the next 10 days. Expect more flirting with wacky Qanon stuff as the campaign throws every piece of garbage against the wall to try to make something stick.

If it’s accurate that voters over the age of 65 are heavily in favor of Biden, It might be because that group tends to get its news from network television. That’s a big mistake. Not only are there heavily liberal biased interpretations there, those outlets are very much involved in censorship. Many key news items of a political nature are ignored. Same thing happens with the Morning Call and WFMZ.
Finally, this is a Muhlenberg College poll. The customer always gets what it pays for.
Is it any surprise Trump's attempt to reflect his own senility onto Biden has backfired? He is too dumb to realize seniors (and anyone who actually paid attention in school) are smart enough to know he's an idiot.
I'm so tired of hearing democrats call republicans dumb. Pathetic. This country is filled with angry horrible people who forget what makes this country great. The ability to disagree but still show respect. Apparently many on this blog don't understand that.
The principle miscalculation is Trump believing he could blow off the coronavirus from day 1, because his re-election strategy was "everything is coming up roses'. When it became obvious we had a giant crapburger on our hands, Trump did not change course. Just imagine, if when in March or April the CDC advised that masks be worn, he invoked the DAA to have masks made, he had funded expanded testing and tracing (with our money, not his - how hard would that have been?), he could have stemmed the tidal wave and now big seen as a big hero. Instead he's saying "don't worry, be happy" and people are saying WTF are you smoking? He EARNED what is coming to him, and so did the GOP who has clung to him at every turn. The whole lot deserves to be sent packing for good. Trump is a damned lunatic.
If you can't see the obvious decline in Joe Biden, I think you're willfully ignorant.
The media likes to call Joes outrageous mistakes gaffes--they're not--they're signs of serious brain damage.
Many of his speeches end in a garbled mess of nonsense utterances. Why? His brain is failing.
I was shocked to hear he has the largest voter fraud operation--He just let the cat out of the bag.
And NO it's not backfiring, it's just one more reason to #WalkAway.

Beware of old people..they vote their health and well being and that is the bottom line. Trump in big trouble in PA as the tide has turned and the virus rules everyone and how they now have to deal with life post virus onslaught. He is doomed and deserving of his fate.
It was a dumb bet by Parscale. I'm sure it tested well with MAGA focus groups, who seem to enjoy taking the attack to the enemy, but by pushing the "Sleepy/Senile Joe" narrative it painted a picture that Biden would easily disprove to anyone with eyes and ears. It was especially tone deaf considering Trump's own age, and the demographic group that was overwhelmingly Trump voters in 2016.
Trump has at nearly every turn, chased away anyone with a degree of competence and literally left himself with self serving leeches (see Parscale) who are attempting to personally profit off of their proximity to Trump.
Lincoln surrounded himself with a "Team of Rivals". Trump has surrounded himself with a Team of Dimwits and Scammers. Ultimately he's the one who hires these people and can't see their flaws, and it will be his ruination for it.
