NorCo Has Processed 48,496 MIBs

Before June's primary election, Northampton County received a record 36,849 mail-in ballots (MIBs). In preparation for the general election on November 3, that record is on pace to be shattered again. Northampton County's Elections Office has already processed 48,496 MIB applications. This is in spite of President Donald Trump's criticism of this method of voting. His bombastic barrage has undoubtedly dampened enthusiasm, but many voters remain undeterred.

Of the 48,496 MIB applications, 31,827 (65.6%) are from Democrats. Republicans account for 11,232 (23.1%). The remaining 5,437 (11.2%) are from third party voters or independents.

Voter Registrar Amy Cozze had predicted there would be 100,000 MIB applications, but that was before the attacks and lawsuits.

“For those who want to vote at the polls, we plan on fully staffing 154 precincts with 315 voting machines,” said Executive Lamont McClure. NorCo has avoided consolidating voting stations, which would increase the wait time.

Updated 7:30 am to correct an error concerning the number of MIBs in the primary.

Of the 75,466, do we have any idea how many are legally eligible voters?

It's difficult to trust the process when those administering the process reveal themselves to be strident radicals who simply don't trust voters. Democratic Party radicals are running the election in NorCo. They need to monitored by an independent observer. They squandered their trust and I suspect they're up to something VERY dirty. I wouldn't have thought that a month ago. I absolutely do now. Trust is earned. They have none. They surrendered it themselves. Get ready for dirty tricks until they get the count they like.

They all were.

The first two comments are Trumpian attempts to sow distrust in our election system so they can claim falsely it was rigged when he loses.

I intend to go to the polls as I always have, but am confused by this issue--I am registered Independent, but have gotten several pieces of mail from the Republican party containing applications for an absentee ballot. I know Pres. Trump has spoken out against the obvious pitfalls in sending mass mailings for voting from home, but there is a difference between that proposal and the established system for absentee voting.

Recently President Trump has been suggesting that everybody apply for an absentee ballot, the established way of voting away from the polls. I even got two phone calls -- robo calls, pre-recorded, of course-- from Donald Trump Jr, urging me to check my mailbox for the absentee ballot application that President Trump's election outfit has sent to our house. But the message does not urge us to use the polls at all, just to apply for absentee ballots. I don't understand why this is going on.

Is the President working from the premise that anything he proposes the Democrats automatically oppose, so if he proposes voting from home, then the Democrats will immediately start calling for everyone to go to the polls?

OH Boy! McClure must have spanked you. You had a couple critical posts and got punished. Now back to full on praise.

You have received applications for a MIB, not an absentee. That is not a proposal, but the law.

My kids apartment on college hill has recently received 5 applications for mail in voting, He was discharged from the Marine Corps 30 October last year . These were probably Lafayette kids . Why aren’t they required to vote absentee in their own state? Why are they allowed to vote here as they maintain residency in say Connecticut or New York . peterjcochran

I deleted an Off topic comment, which made several responses to it unnecessary
