Allentown Golf Course Opens Today

Allentown's golf course will open for business Monday today, but with new rules designed to prevent you from contacting Covid-19.

Customers entering the Pro Shop must wear masks and will scan their own credit cards. There are no cash sales in the Pro Shop. All players must have a tee time to enter the Pro Shop unless they are purchasing a range ball card.

There is a limit of one occupant per cart.

All cups are inverted. It is not necessary for players to touch and remove the flagstick.

Golfers must maintain six feet social distancing at all times whether in the clubhouse, at the driving range or on the course.

Masks are encouraged, but golfers are not required to wear a mask while they play their round as long as they adhere to social distancing measures.

Updated at 2:28 to reflect actual date. I confused May 1 and Monday.

  1. Whoopie!! Now stop bitching.

  2. Speaking of bitchin', today's mcall has an article about Wolf "experimenting" with reopening parts of the state.

Can't wait for the Wolf acolytes to deal with the fact that he's "running an experiment with people's lives."

  3. He’s experimenting alright. The problem is he’s basing his decisions on the unreliable data he’s been given. Any conclusions he makes from his experiment are WRONG from the get-go.

It’s also foolish to rely on our Morning Call !

  4. This could have been the case right along. There is very little risk if manged properly.

  5. These are very fair rules.

  6. 7:11 is absolutely right on. How much happiness golfers would have had these stressfully difficult two months if they could have played golf that helps with weight and heart health too.

  7. Two thirds of Lehigh's and Northampton's deaths, and more than two thirds of the entire state's deaths occurred at nursing homes and care facilities. It's tragic and a story that repeats across the country. But that means about 500 deaths have occurred among the rest of us in a state with 12.8 million people. That's just .0039% or thirty nine ten thousandths of one percent. 1,100 Pennsylvanians die each year in vehicle crashes. Over 2,000 Pennsylvanians commit suicide each year. Unlike the governor's magic, ever changing models and formulas, these numbers are easily verifiable. Nursing homes were essentially locked down and still devastated. Locking down the rest of the population under 65-70 was unnecessary. increased numbers of suicides from economic devastation and deaths resulting from failure to get early cancer detection screenings or continue cancer treatments will cause far more than 500 deaths. We made a costly and deadly mistake.

  8. All of the kabuki dance theatrics aside, the most important thing golfers can do is avoid nursing homes.

  9. Yes! Unless you are in a nursing home, and already weakened in vital organs, more than 90-95% of our population has nothing much to worry about. Besides, we have plenty more ability to manage new cases than were available in March.

With wide spread testing, new cases WILL rise. Shouldn’t surprise anyone. Nor should this be reason to lock us in our homes.

What I'm inferring here is that you're not among that 90-95% and so you're going to carry on pretty much as you did before the pandemic. That would put everyone, especially the other 5-10%, at greater risk.

Now you know why those of us who prefer less risk are skeptical about relaxing safety standards or, that aside, how many people will handle what happens next. WE LIVE HERE TOO!

I'm not sure if this comment is a gag, or the height of stupidity and selfishness.

If you want to stay holed up in your bunker and wear a respirator, you can certainly do that for as long as you want.

But because you have a fear of something, doesn't mean others do, or that they should lock themselves down to the level you want to lock yourself down.

We are free people, and there is no rational basis for prolonging this "crisis" that (thankfully) hasn't lived up to the hype that ushered it in. We do not (up until now) and should not quarantine and take away the rights of those who are not even sick!

As with the risk from any other communicable disease, you are free to take the precautions you see fit. The hospitals (again thankfully) have the capacity to treat you if you catch something. That was the supposed reason for the lockdown in the first place.

  13. Agree. While it's easy to blame Wolf and his hideously disturbing sidekick, the blame lies squarely with the lemmings who did as instructed and simply locked themselves up. I visited county parks six times and held am 18-person gathering in my yard last weekend. I wear a mask and stay 10 feet away from everyone. I won't be getting sick. But I won't be following ridiculous edicts, the enforcement of which will lead to a nice civil settlement. There are lots of those coming. We've been had by the child molester beard guy governor and the dress wearing whatever. But that's really on those of who took them seriously.

  14. One person's lemming is another's grownup. And that's on top o your obsession with the cabinet secretary's genitals. Sounds like someone has some gender insecurity issues...

  15. Believe what you will, but I believe the Pennsylvania Governor’s political affiliation is receiving a huge black eye. Many Americans are stupid loyalists to their political party. But, this is going to hurt supporters of Wolf.

  16. Polling data indicate quite the opposite. And that's only going to get worse as infection rates continue to be high, because IT'S TOO FRIGGIN' SOON.

  17. Polls are very easy to fix. The organization paying for the poll can get whatever result they want. I can show you an equal number of polls that give a much different prediction than the ones you will choose to promote. I never use a poll to make a point. They are just not reliable.

Same for the COVID-19 statistics. They’ve been ‘cooked’ for maximum impact. Evidence is out there.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Polls are not easy to fix. But OK, I dare you: show me a poll that shows that people like Trump's r34sponse to COVID-19.

  19. E-A-S-Y. Gallup Poll

Again, I’m not using this to influence anyone, because all I can do is assume this poll has not been skewed in some way.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Really, this is the best that you've got? That 2% difference, which is sinking, is within the margin of error.

    Gallup:
    50% approve, 48% disapprove of Trump's handling COVID-19 situation
COVID-19 situation approval down from 60% last month
Overall job approval rating now at 49%

And clearly you're picking the most favorable poll that you can find.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yes, Trump is so happy with his public reception that he's screaming at his campaign manager.

    ReplyDelete
  22. 3:32 - Sorry, you placed a ‘bet’ and lost.

Anyone can come here and simply deny anything they don’t want to hear, using just a few words. Happening more here, and elsewhere. Bernie holds the option to swipe away anything he finds offensive or useless. That’s fine. I deal with it now.

But, if you come here to blurt out some media talking point, you need to come better prepared. It’s very likely you haven’t researched enough or you spend your time in the wrong places. I prefer not to play the ‘Gotcha Game.’ That can lead to Blogs being totally useless and ignored (wink). We’re not as Anonymous as we think.

  23. Several polls reported last week had the governors at a much higher COVID-19 approval level than Trump. In fact, he didn't beat a single one of them.

50% approval ON AN EMERGENCY? That's not support, and there's a reason he's seriously behind in states like PA.

If polls are so easy to fix, then Trump is fucking up this task like all the others.

    ReplyDelete
  24. The protestors are in a decided minority. Their events are organized by rich Republicans (who don't show up at them because they don't want to get infected).

There are plenty of us who are going to need some real convincing before we come back to stores or restaurants, so first we'll let the risk-takers experiment on each other. You so richly deserve each other!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yes, what does it say about Trump and Pence that they are tested "regularly", as is anyone who meets with them. This is while there aren't nearly enough tests for the rest of us.

This really says it all. If Trump & Co. had to undergo the same risks as the rest of us, I bet they would've found the time to solve the testing problem.

    Hypocrites!

  26. Well, at least they aren't injecting disinfectants.
