Former Allentown Mayor Edwin "Fed Ed" Pawlowski has lost his bid to be released from Danbury FCI during the Covid-19 crisis. But while a federal judge has said No, Attorney General William Barr might say Yes. He has already ordered prison officials to consider home confinement at three different federal institutions, including Danbury.
Fed Ed is operating with just one lung, and this makes him high-risk for respiratory illnesses. Until the crisis passes, he should be allowed to shelter-in-place at home, like the rest of us.

Jesus will protect Mayor Pawlowski.
It’s in His hands.
Yes. What is that quote about compassion at the courthouse. He's a guilty person but come on. And maybe any time he escaped might be added on when he returns.
What would Jesus do? Let the Mayor go.
Has there been a positive among the prison population? If so,on house arrest until the pandemic has subsided. If not, keep his corrupt ass where it is.
Mayor Ed is an innocent man.
Did not know he had one lung. Yes, he must be released.
Yes, he should go home and remain home on house arrest to serve out his sentence, even without the threat of Coronavirus.
He should be permitted home confinement until the threat is over.
Let him go he committed no crime
"Did not know he had one lung. Yes, he must be released."
I learned this quite some tome ago, and fellow blogger Michael Molovinsky knew this as well. I do not think either of us ever mentioned it bc it wasn't particularly relevant to anything. Now it is. I think his sentence needs to be served, but he did not get a death sentence. Forcing him to remain behind bars under these circumstances and with his health issues is unsafe for him.
Why incarcerate an innocent man?
Return the mayor to his people.
Give him a medal for rebuilding Allentown.
He should be released to spend the daytime hours of his remaining sentence in stocks at 7th and Hamilton, so that he's visible on that weather channel center city live cam. Perhaps a ducking stool? Humiliation can be accomplished safely, given the pandemic. It would be grossly unfair to Fed Ed to not fully complete his rehabilitation.
At his sentencing the judge said Pawlowski had no underlining medical issues other than slightly elevated cholesterol. How could a federal judge not know Pawlowski’s medical issues?
The man’s a serial liar.
I smell something fishy.
Agree with you Bernie, home confinement (period, cannot leave for any reason except medical appointments), then return to prison once the virus threat has passed.
He's corrupt, guilty, and a horrible man but he did not receive a death sentence.
The Banker
Yes. He shouldn't be there anyway. He is a testament to what happens to people when they exercise their right to a trial by jury. He should be on probation anyway. If he took a deal, he would have been out by now. Not like he put kids through college, had vacation homes, lived opulently and so on. While he committed a crime, and should face consequences, 15 years in Federal Prison at $100k per year to incarcerate = $1.5 million over 15 years is ridiculous! As a Federal Taxpayer, I resent having to be involved with paying this kind of money for low level shake downs. IMHO
This is a bogus argument that Ed or anyone being in prison is somehow a death sentence.
Maybe I've missed the stories, but I've heard of no mass outbreaks in prison. In fact, the infection/death rates are equal to or even better in prison than they are in the rest of the country.
The coronavirus is everywhere, so it's not like he'd be getting released to a safer environment. In fact, he's likely safer in prison than he would be at home, where people he would be in CLOSE contact with would be venturing out into the population as they please.
In prison they are monitoring the staff and population. He is in a white-collar facility where the other inmates aren't hardened criminals and also likely want to live. He can be isolated from others and subject to a much more stringent lockdown than he and others in his home would be subject to.
He shouldn't be released until the end of his sentence, and I'd love to see him barred from EVER returning to Allentown under ANY circumstances. He's done enough damage here, and taxpayers are still paying for his crimes
So somehow the judge missed the part about one lung and Ed forgot to mention it when he was begging for mercy (no pun intended) during the sentencing phase?
You would think Jennings or one of the dozens of other character wittinesses would have mentioned it? It wasn’t on the model letter passed out to the Pawlowski sycophants.
People don’t just “lose” one lung.
There’s a piece of the facts missing here, too.

On top of that, he has no soul or morals. Keep him right where he is!
Given the microscopically low death rates that have caused mass panic, it's unlikely he's received a death sentence. Releasing him and other inmates is a panic mistake.
Can anyone confirm the “one lung” statement? Never heard it mentioned prior to this
I can't confirm, but Lisa Pawlowski was interviewed on 69 news over the weekend and she said that he had one lung removed when he was 20 yo. His attorneys included this information in the petition, so I'm sure it has merit. #releaseed
Did his friend Reilly have one of his many doctors doctor a false report from Chicago from when this criminal was young?
Pawlowski didn’t “commit a crime”.
Pawlowski was convicted of 47 felonies.
That’s FORTY-SEVEN FELONIES.
If the Federal Prosecutor had unlimited resources he could have faced another 100 charges.
The man is a totally unrepentant serial criminal and the leader of a criminal cabal that will diminished the quality of life for every Allentown resident for two generations.
One lung or two, the man is a lowlife sociopath.
The guy is a lying criminal slug.
His apologists are pathetic worms.
Pawlowski got his break when the Feds chose not to prosecute his spouse.

Well said. VERY well said.
Nobody with 46 or more felony convictions should be released. The cutoff should be 46.
All the mercy he showed his victims of his crimes? Let the bastard rot there. Let his new friends take care of all bubbles needs.

You mean kinda like bone spurs in his foot?
No I meen like all the ones dying in a unmentioned old folks home that had an early report that vanished from the local lame stream media outlets, like a fart in the wind. How's that tax base being stolen from the whole of pa adding up with the shut down?
@11:29 AM
THE BIG LIE of the Pawlowski affair (promulgated by the Morning Call) is the revisionist refrain, “ Pawlowski committed ‘victimless crimes’”.
This is not only a bald faced lie, it’s an obscene insult to all those who were victimized.
Vile, approaching blood libel.
Let Pawlowski rely on his close personal relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The man is sick on any number of levels already.
Let him remain under the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons until his full sentence has been served.
Reilly detests Fed Ed, don’t kid yourself.
If it was up to Reilly Pawlowski would never see the light of day ever again.
Given the contributions Ed is making at Danbury, it's best he stay and continue to teach his government class and lead by example. Fr. Damian stayed on Molokai. Offer it up.
He can go straight to hell, fuck him!
If the good die young then this lying, cheating, conniving POS has a long life ahead of him.
Wast it Reilly, fed Ed and gov wolf the ones meeting in Whitehall manor at the begining of this farce with pat brown with the unknown suspect? That good govment right there folks right and left crime committal.

To all of you Fed Ed haters, he was a hell of a lot better than tax and spend O'connell! Ray is the worst Mayor in the history of Allentown...27% tax hike!
He can come home to service before all her suitors have her worn out. If it wasn't for the kid she would have a jump suit too.
I stupidly voted for Ray because he said he would only run for the 2 year term. If he breaks that promise and runs again, he has no chance. I Know a lot of people who would be pissed off and not vote for him
O'Connell is no leader. It is a sad statement about Allentown that they would elect a dimwit like that as Mayor. He has to fill a $45m budget gap over the next 5 years. Hold on tight for more tax increases that will make 27% look insignificant.
Yes.
Jeffery Epstein did not kill himself, Madam Ghislaine Maxwell is still at large.
He should be facing six life sentences for claming to help when fact is he was on the other side before they expired! It was just his drummer boy rap star self being jumpped into the gang he represents!
republican redd
I don’t hate Ed, he’s not worthy of that level of passion.
I don’t wish for the shlump to die in the clink, but if he did I wouldn’t lose a moment of sleep over his demise.
Greetings Everyone,
Lisa Pawlowski here. I wanted to respond to your comments.
It is true that Ed only has one lung. His closest friends know this. And he bears a 9" scar on his back. When he was a child his parents thought he had asthma. As he got older, the 'asthma' got worse. When in college at UW Whitewater, he got so bad that he was coughing 24 hours a day, and couldn't walk across the campus without being worn out. X-Rays didn't show anything, so they did exploratory surgery. There was a golf ball size tumor, and they removed the whole lung. He was 20 years old at the time. Ever since he has had to be very careful when getting the flu or bronchitis. The common cold knocks him out.
As for the prison situation, Danbury FCI, in Connecticut, has consistently been in the top 3 Federal prisons to have the highest case number of Covid 19 cases. Fairfield County, CT, is the hotspot of the outbreak in Connecticut. As of today there are 34 confirmed inmate cases, and 12 guards according to the BOP's official count. According to Ed, there are many more. Each unit is 70 guys. All together in one big room. They sleep in bunk beds, about 4' away from each other. He says people are coughing and in bed all through the unit. They have stopped separating people with symptoms because there is no where else to isolate them. That includes solitary confinement, and the medical ward. Only 3 days ago did they pass out masks and soap. Before that they were forbidden to wear makeshift masks, and inmates had to buy their own soap. They share the same 2 telephones, computer terminals, and bathrooms. I'm not saying this for sympathy that he is in prison. I'm saying there is no social isolation in there. The virus is in there, and it's just a matter of time before Ed gets it. The local hospital is small, and at capacity.
Attorney General Barr, on April 3rd, singled out Danbury, Oakdale, and Elkton as being the highest priority facilities that he wanted to see early release and home confinement due to their high numbers of the virus. They have been directed, by the Attorney General, to evaluate those at high risk according to the CDC, and try to get them out of there with early release (if they are close to an exit date anyway) or home confinement until the crisis is over and it is safe to go back. They eliminated those who are sex offenders, violent criminals, or flight risks. Ed is neither of these.
If you believe that a 54 year old man with one lung should be able to isolate in order to avoid getting this virus, then send an email to the Warden at Danbury FCI, and ask for consideration for isolation or home confinement for him. Just Google Danbury FCI. If you wish him dead, then that is some bad karma.
I don't think nobody wants him dead because that is the easy way out. He should just serve his time in jail. Than there is the flight risk to the DR were the infamous plane wash filled for a free for all folly, fully paid for by a campaign donor that was not brought up at trial?
As for you just go expose yourself as a savior to the relocated women and children of Allentown PA.
Thanx, we all know karma is currently serving time as you are free!
Lisa Pawlowski, You are I are not friends. Your husband and I are not friends. But I agree completely that he should be allowed to serve under home confinement because he is obviously high risk. He was sentenced to confinement, not death. I will write to the warden.
