While Northampton County Voting Registrar Amy Cozze was demonstrating the voting machines and epoll books to County Council last night, she urged them to ask the Governor to push back the April 28 primary. She explained that, in addition to being inundated with applications for mail-in ballots, the Governor's shutdown order means she has no printer for provisional ballots. In addition, Lehigh University has closed, and is unable to host one of the precincts used. She provided a copy of a letter that York County Commissioners have already sent to the Governor.
Council member John Cusick added that the County Commissioners' Association of Pa has also resolved to request Wolf to delay the election.
Council voted unanimously (9-0) to ask Wolf to delay the primary.

ReplyDeleteElection needs to be suspended for 1 year, start back up Jan. 1 with primary campaigning and hold general election Nov. 2021. that is what is likely to happen.
ReplyDeleteStaff up?? The governor shut down all the printers. Where are PA counties supposed to get all their ballots, envelopes, and mail-in ballots? Also, if you haven't noticed we're in the middle of pandemic where no more than 10 people are supposed to be in a room together and your suggestions is to add more people? How about the day of the election? You think 10 people or less will show up at the polling locations (actually 5 because there will already be 5 workers there) The logistics just don't work. They need to delay it until this craziness is over.
ReplyDeleteThe poor quality of last night's live stream instills zero confidence that this county can handle even minor tasks. My church is live streaming services. It took them about 20 minutes to figure it out after churches were closed. The audio and video are flawless high definition. The cost was 20 minutes of someone's time using an iPad. How many millions are we paying for dogshit IT?

ReplyDeleteI watched the meeting, and on an iPad. The quality of video on an iPad is usually better than a Windows PC. The sound quality was bad, but that is bc Council members, especially Tara Zrinski, do not use their mikes. Also, during presentations, the person speaking needs to use a mike at all times.
