PPL Center to Host EPC Basketball Championships!
Tonight, it's the boys's semifinals.
At 6 pm, Allentown's Central Catholic Vikings (#3 seed, 20-3) will take on Bethlehem's Liberty High School (#2 seed, 19-4). Though I bleed green and will be rooting for the Vikings, this one is too close to call. Both teams are exceptionally well coached with outstanding athletes like Nick Filchner (ACCHS), Liam Joyce (ACCHS) and Antonio Montgomery (Liberty).
I had the privilege of meeting sophomore Joyce last week when he, his Dad and brothers visited DeSales for a basketball game. A sophomore, Joyce exudes a quiet confidence that I'm sure is contagious.
At 7:30 pm, William Allen High School's Canaries (19-4, #1 seed) will attempt to fly through the Parkland Trojans (18-5, #5 seed).
The EPC boys' champ will be decided in a game at PPL Center on Thursday night at 8 pm.
Tuesday will be semifinal night for the girls.
At 6 pm, Nazareth's Blue Eagles (20-3, #2 seed) will face Stroudsburg (21-2, #3 seed) in a game starting at 6 pm. Then, at 7:30, Bethlehem Catholic's Golden Hawks (23-0, #1 seed) will take on the Freedom Patriots (20-3, #4 seed).
The EPC girls' champ will be decided in a game at PPL Center on Thursday night at 6 pm.

Those are some quality matchups. No upset would be a big upset, given the balance this year - both boys and girls.
ReplyDeleteAdmittedly OT, but any thoughts on the ND-SV wrestling controversy with SV's girl winning by forfeit because Catholic school rules prohibit boys wrestling girls?
I'll give you my 2 cents- boys and girls should not be wrestling each other, period. End of story. No wonder this country is going to hell in a handbasket.
DeleteGlad they're doing it at the Arena that'll be fun!
ReplyDelete7:55, let's stick to basketball.
ReplyDeleteGreat info! I'm going to get out of the house, should be fun.
ReplyDeleteSee you there.
ReplyDeleteCatholic schools have different rules than public schools--teams in the same league should have the same rules--anything else is not true 0r fair to either team
ReplyDeleteI agree that private AND charter schools should be required to compete at the highest district level when it comes to districts and states. But as I'm sure you know, some public schools recruit and provide phony addresses. That happened up the line this season, but they got caught, lol. I do think that they should be allowed to participate in leagues bc these kids should not have to travel an hour one way for a game. I feel for Exec Education and wish they were playing locally.
ReplyDeleteI still it is unfair to our kids in public schools when they have to compete against all star teams such as St. Joe from philly or Pittsberg central catholic among many others including charter schools. all I hear from administration is were her for the kids if they wre here for the kids this unfair system would stop. Football kids as one example work all year long only to run into an all star team that has different rules than us. It is unfair to our kids and it should be stopped. AS to the school up north who cheated--PV--THEY SHOULD BE PUNISHED--but who can not compare that to the unfair situation created by our so called school leaders'And please do not believe Mr Groller our kids want to play the best but want to be treated fairly; a few years ago a QB from catty said it best -why does the piaa let this go on after his undefeated team was beaten by a chater school from the philly area.
ReplyDeleteTry to enjoy the game. You can bitch later. It is halftime and the Catholic school is down by 3.
ReplyDeleteBernie on all issues you are afraid of the truth--you are a true and a great example of a liberal left idiot.
ReplyDeleteBERnie shiff 0r shit Pelosi and schumer do not forget Nadler all are anti America they hate Trump because they cannot control him and never will--they all would stick up for the only state in America that has a state champ yet different rules for different teams--that is your basic liberal philosophy
