LVCI - Morning Call Has Lost Two of Its Most Senior Reporters
Fellow blogger LVCI has more. He reports Riley Yates, who happens to be the senior reporter covering Northampton County Courts, is leaving.
From Yates' Twitter Feed: "Personal news: I’m leaving The Morning Call after 12 years. I’ve accepted a buyout, during what is the fourth round of staff cuts in my tenure. If you want to say goodbye, please call, message or stop by, because tomorrow is my last day."
LVCI also notes the departure of Nicole Radzievich, a fixture at Bethlehem City Council:
From Radzievich's Twitter Feed: "I can’t thank enough The Morning Call and all the wonderful journalists I have worked with there over the last 19 years. I’ll miss you all and will continue to follow your important work as a reader. -30-"
As I said before, this is bad news for democracy and great news for bad government.
I appreciate LVCI for bringing this to everyone's attention.

You own views are appreciated, especially if they differ from mine. But remember, commenting is a privilege, not a right. I will delete personal attacks or off-topic remarks at my discretion. Comments that play into the tribalism that has consumed this nation will be declined. So will comments alleging voter fraud unless backed up by concrete evidence. If you attack someone personally, I expect you to identify yourself. I will delete criticisms of my comment policy, vulgarities, cut-and-paste jobs from other sources and any suggestion of violence towards anyone. I will also delete sweeping generalizations about mainstream parties or ideologies, i.e. identity politics. My decisions on these matters are made on a case by case basis, and may be affected by my mood that day, my access to the blog at the time the comment was made or other information that isn’t readily apparent.

Sports writer Steve Miller also left after 15 years, per his Twitter account. He was a good one.
ReplyDeletepathetic- the Morning Call should be ashamed of themselves!
ReplyDeleteThey are going the way of toll bridge collectors , Ez pass / Internet don’t need people to interact. Yet Our toll bridges employ and pay salaries ,and what do they do ? The press buys them out to settle them to something else.
ReplyDeletewhere is Nicole going?
ReplyDeleteI do not know. I think you'd want to keep the more senior reporters if you wanted to deliver a good product. Despite its protests to the contrary, it is clear to me that this newspaper no longer wishes to deliver a superior product.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to the Distress-Times?
ReplyDeleteThe Call has been in on the local corruption and criminal activities since before they acquired the entire block because of questionable circumstance! Remember the Pennsylvania restaurant and the prostitutes stroll was around that block and they took there breaks at the no infamous closed Trinkle's Cafe?
ReplyDeleteAnd once again, yesterday we didn't get our paper delivered.
ReplyDelete7:30, call someone overseas. You’re problem is handled halfway around the world.
ReplyDeleteBernie, as you know, a superior product would be a newspaper filled 90% with LOCAL NEWS, delivered by people with LOCAL knowledge. Just provide what’s useful HERE. Less reprints from Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, and New York Times.
ReplyDeleteNothing to see or report here..please keep moving.
ReplyDeleteA Vladimir Putin critic has been found with his throat slit in what police are calling a "politically motivated" assassination in a French hotel.
ReplyDeleteWFMZ just like The Morning Call has become advertizementalistz at best, when clicking on a story the site wants you to sign in on one of there accounts of social media. What used to take a few minutes too read now takes much more time trying to navigate out of these pop-up advertizements. News or just attention diversion designs to send subliminals in there agenda driven network?
