Nuria DiLuzio to Run For NorCo DA

Bethlehem Attorney Nuria DiLuzio will announce her candidacy for Northampton County District Attorney tonight, 5:30 PM, at the Blue Grillhouse in Bethlehem Tp. She has served as both a full-time and part-time public defender, and is currently Chief Public Defender. She has also maintained a private practice since 2001, focusing on criminal defense and family law. She is married to Bethlehem Police Chief Mark DiLuzio. She is a Democrat.

The only other candidate to announce so far is Republican Tom Carroll, who announced his candidacy in Lehigh County.

Why is DiLuzio running? She'll explain tonight.

  1. She is as qualified to be DA as you are to be POPE.

  2. She has as much, if not more, experience than Morganelli did when he first ran. She is the Public Defender and has been practicing longer than John was at the time he ran. John was previously an Asst. Public Defender and Bethlehem City Council Solicitor when he first ran.

  3. She is an attorney who actually practices in NorCo. That is more than Carroll can say. I still would like him to answer why he left the NorCo DA's office after just two years if he wants to prosecute illegal aliens so badly.

As Chief PD, DiLuzio has made changes that save taxpayers money, Every year, the PDs go to some conference and collect CLE points. The county used to find it all. Under DiLuzio, the county only funds the cost of the course. Lawyers who want to stay at a hotel can pay for it out of their own pockets. She also has clamped down on what is paid to death penalty investigators who make excuses to fly to far flung places in the winter for "interviews."

She is a top tier candidate.

  4. I live in the Lehigh County section of Bethlehem and have no vote in the Northampton County DA election. I do not know Nuria DiLuzio but have heard good things about her. As a Bethlehem resident I am very impressed with the job Mark DiLuzio has done as the Bethlehem Police Chief. My question is whether there would be any ethics issues or conflict of interest situations that would prevent Mark from continuing in his current role if he wife is elected to the Northampton County DA post?

  5. They would both be prosecuting bad guys so there is no conflict.

  7. @9:30 Bernie your an f---ing idiot. I'd bet the changes she made really boosted morale in the public defenders office you moron. Nuria Diluzio is a political puppet running for DA so "those people" can carry on Morganelli`s legacy of political cronyism conspiracy and collusion. "Those people" never get prosecuted all the while they pick and choose who's life to ruin today.
