Starting today, NorCo’s Department of Human Services has added add an alphanumeric phone number to make it easier for residents to access the drug and alcohol emergency line: 610-829-HELP (4357). The old number, 610-829-4725 will still be functional.
“It is the job of local government to make services available for residents who need them,” says Lamont McClure. “Using an alphanumeric phone number will make it easier for the public to access our services and will help save lives.”
The emergency line will be open during business hours (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM), Monday through Friday. The line will give callers the option to be connected to Northampton County Emergency Services Unit, to get information about accessing drug and alcohol treatment, or to be connected to the Human Services Information and Referral Unit.
The County’s Emergency Services Crisis line (610-252-9060) is available on a 24 hour basis.

You own views are appreciated, especially if they differ from mine. But remember, commenting is a privilege, not a right. I will delete personal attacks or off-topic remarks at my discretion. Comments that play into the tribalism that has consumed this nation will be declined. So will comments alleging voter fraud unless backed up by concrete evidence. If you attack someone personally, I expect you to identify yourself. I will delete criticisms of my comment policy, vulgarities, cut-and-paste jobs from other sources and any suggestion of violence towards anyone. I will also delete sweeping generalizations about mainstream parties or ideologies, i.e. identity politics. My decisions on these matters are made on a case by case basis, and may be affected by my mood that day, my access to the blog at the time the comment was made or other information that isn’t readily apparent.
