Trapp Wants Back in Allentown

Northampton County Executive John Brown lost his re-election bid for many reasons. Lamont McClure ran an excellent race. Brown was certainly hurt by the Trump factor. Most county employees (and their families) voted for McClure, too. His unilateral decision to cut benefits made clear that he was intent on balancing the budget on the backs of county employees. Then he hired Amy Trapp as Director of Human Relations. She was toxic. She brought us an $800 popcorn machine, trips to Vegas and New Orleans and lunches at the courthouse on the taxpayer dime. She created her own fiefdom with people she imported from corruption-plagued Allentown. She attempted to force everyone to use biometric punch clocks without consensus. Then there's the "entitled spoiled brat government employees remark," posted on this blog on an account owned by her husband. Let's not forget those $10 and $15 gift cards she purchased with employee money. She was unable to explain what happened to some of them. McClure obviously declined to retain her.

Not long after she left the county, it was my understanding that she found a Human Resources job. I declined to write about it because it was in the private sector. But I learned over the weekend that she is trying to get her old job back in the City of Allentown. Over one year in Allentown, 23 people were fired or forced to retire.

On her Linked-In page, Trapp fails to mention the job she had in the private sector. It either fell through or sheleft after a short period. She describes herself as a "dynamic, professional, experienced human resource professional seeking a new opportunity!"

She's endorsed by Charlie Thiehl. I's sure that will carry great weight with Allentown Mayor Ray O'Connell.

  1. Good Lord! Say it ain't so, Shoeless Joe! As an Allentonian I greatly protest that this human scourge be given another chance to destroy the morale of our public servants. She should team up with Brown the Clown and his hand puppet Cathy Allen and form a consulting group. They could call themselves C3. For Caustic, Corrupt Clowns. Oh wait, C3 is already copyrighted by the phonies that Brown hired while in office.

  2. Allentown would be lucky to have her. Just look at what a shit show HR has become in Northampton since she left.

  3. Please stop attacking this lady. She is a target not only because of her gender but also because she is attractive. It is sad that even other women go after her. Is there a problem with someone wanting to be attractive? If people want to do breast enhancements and vaginal rejuvenation that is their business. Whether they have done it or not shouldn't be a thing they are judged on.

  4. Lol you're clearly her, and you definitely don't work for the county.

I've been really happy with hr in the past few months. We're finally offered short term disability coverage and life insurance and this new teladoc thing sounds awesome. Trapp's policy of using time in 1 hour increments has been overturned and employee moral is up.

    1. Guess who got you those new benefits you like? This lady everyone is trashing. They were in place before this new administration and had a rollout date of March. She also got better vision coverage and better dental benefits the previous year.

  5. Trust me.....morale isn’t up. You may have what you feel are better benefits but good luck when you have a personnel issue. Anyway....leave the woman go. She is no longer with the county. Time to move on to new stories. And if it were a man we were talking about I can guarantee there would be zero comments about their body.

  6. I could care less about her boob job nor her overhaul of her VJJ. This person was just evil and mean. She does not belong in HR ever as she has shown and proven. She is more suitable for a line cook or a factory job without management of people

  7. Insecure and unethical two words that describe her to a T.

  8. Amy Trapp is a bully. The way she spoke to employees was atrocious. She had a very "us vs them" attitude and she berated and spoke down to people.

  9. Wait this was the Howard stern looking woman who rides a hoverboard and makes pop corn on the county dime? Omg what a Hot Mess she is. Wish you would write why she is out at her private sector job. Any employer that does a background will think twice.

  10. According to my sources, she is looking to work for the Allentown School District.

  11. Well the ASD will get a down grade if they pick her. Those new benefits had nothing to do with Amy Trapp. She needs to figure out better things to do in the am then be on a blog. Finally, someone should ask her about the changes to the dental benefits that benefitted her families needs. Braces can be expensive!!!!!!!!

  12. What purpose does any of your personal bashing serve? You don’t like her? Great, don’t hire her, but who are you to try to stop her from making a living? Who are any of you to judge her body? And why is her body relevant at all?

You think the STD insurance and the life insurance happen overnight? Do you know how long those things need to be in the works?

I know first hand what HR turned into after she left Allentown and would welcome her back.

  13. So wait.... Im supposed to be happy she gave me some lube AFTERWARDS? They took away our great benefits and told us it was fair. Failed to give us raises to compensate us for the increase in costs. Gave us laughable gap insurance that has yet to help ANYONE I know. I am still trying to figure out what actually applies to their out of pocket max. Laughed in our faces at negotiations. Offered 0% raises and thought it was fair. This new teledoc thing might be worth it but our old health insurence we lost years ago cost the employee a lot more than you expect. We accepted low wages in return for good benefits. Many counties around us get paid more for the same work. When they took them away it hurt so many of us. We stay because we have a vested interest in our jobs. We stay because we are thankful to even have a job.

My morale has been sky high since shes gone. I am so incredibly happy. Ide be happy if she never ever EVER got a job again dealing with people. She is a mean spirited person that has no right to be anywhere near people. She is a bully the likes of the president. But I guess if the man at the top says its ok then everyone else can do it. I actually contacted an attorney to see if the way she acted towards me was even legal. She skirts the line on all the legally protected classifications and will tear you down in every other way.

I am not sure why anyone would hire her for anything short of backroom stocking.

    1. Do you think she personally chose to change your old benefits? Or maybe it was the administration at the time...

And I’m not saying you should be thankful for the lube afterwards, but I’m saying if you’re thankful for the lube, at least thank the person who left it, not the person who just picked it up and is currently using to ram you...

  14. If I lived in Allentown I'd warn the school board against hiring her. When the district is sued because of her tactics it will be the taxpayers footing the bill.

  15. I see she's a defendant in an employment suit filed in February 2017. Anyone have info?

  16. All of the posts defending Von Trapp are either she or her husband. There is no one else who worked with her that would mount such a detailed defence.

  17. Phone calls to Allentown School District. We do not need popcorn machine nor the hoverboard in our hallways. This woman is as evil as Cruella DeVille. Anyone who treats people like she does should not work for taxpayer's period.

  18. "She is a target not only because of her gender but also because she is attractive"

She is a target bc she was an unhinged and unstable HR Director who ignored the rules she enforced on everyone else. She drove morale right into the tank.

  21. I have deleted a few comments. Readers of this blog should know i will delete vulgar comments, especially those that objectify women. Charlie Thiel is Prez of ASD, and I am sure he will push them to hire her. She does not belong in the public sector. She has a poor view of public sector employees, and that view was betrayed by the comment once posted under her husband's name, using the exact same words that she herself has said to NorCo employees.

Allentown is in dire need of a human service worker of the most discriminated bunch of humans that are treated less than and like animals. The diversion from Americas needs are allways moved to back of every and anything else.

  26. I don't know if Amy Trapp was the victim of sexism in her time at the county, and I sincerely hope that she wasn't. But I do know that she contributed to and benefited from the sexist culture of the county. She threatened an excellent employee with termination over a minor infraction, denied said employee union rep when she explicitly requested it, and spent the better part of an hour berating her with the goal of making her cry (she's known for this). Then she lied to the union rep when asked about it the next day claiming she never threatened termination and the employee was just oh sooo emotional she must of misunderstood... some women, amirite.

  31. Do people remember that our benefits were changed before Amy Trapp entered the picture??? She did not give us the sad gap insurance. She did however get some of our benefits improved (ie the dental coverage). . Also when I’ve had to deal with personnel matters she had my back. And there were union reps present during those meetings. There are many who were very impressed with the level of support HR provided and the changes they attempted to make. Why can’t people try to make a valid argument without attacking someone’s physical appearance? If anyone did that at the County to any of these anonymous commentersI’m sure they’d be calling HR to file a complaint or better yet contacting your lawyers to file a lawsuit. It’s sad that people can’t express their opinions without disgusting comments about a person’s body. And as said above, if this was about a man, there would be no talk about his body.

  33. 7:40, I agree that this should be a gender neutral discussion. I believe the first person who injected gender into this discussion was Trapp (anonymously) or a supporter, who claimed at 4:37 am that the only reason she was being attacked is bc she is attractive. That comment invited the rebukes that followed, and I deleted the vulgar ones.

A person with her view of public employees, and one she expressed to others in NORCO, should never be in charge of an HR department for the public sector.

  37. Amy Trapp made it about her body not us. If SHE hadn't CHOSEN to wear the LOW CUT and TIGHT clothing that she did and told everyone about her surgeries, they wouldn't be talked about. So don't come down on us. SHE created it all because SHE wanted to CONTROL and be the CENTER of ATTRACTION and ATTENTION in all! Brown's downfall was letting her do so. Hope ASD doesn't do the same. Ultimately, the children will be affected.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I would not vote for Amy Tramp for anything period! She made her own problems.... so let her slither off with her ego and nasty mouth elsewhere. PS The word is ASD is NOT hiring her as the boss hog does not have the vote due to the uproar on Bernie's blog!

I together with everybody who voted for Mr. McClure are very happy with the progress so far.

However a very strong impetus for voting for him was for a reconsideration of the atrocious health care plan instituted by Brown.

Bernie any future blogs on this topic because believe me it’s on the minds of every county employee
