John Morganelli |
Unlike most candidates, Congressional candidate John Morganelli is using his personal Facebook page to promote his campaign. Like other candidates, he has attracted a few political trolls who are trying to shout him down, much as they did at the partisan NextGen debate a few weeks ago. These so-called liberals are only tolerant of those who agree with them. One of them, a Sue Wild supporter, came onto John Morganelli's Facebook page to attack him and claim he is not Democratic enough. Morganelli answered him, and I thought I'd share what he said in a forum where no one could shout him down.
I respect your opinion, but what is it based upon? Here are the facts:I disagree with John's stance on illegal immigration. I oppose the death penalty. But John is a Democrat, and one who actually tolerates views that differ from his. So much so that he directed the dismissal of trespass charges brought against antiwar protesters demonstrating outside the Palmer Post Office.Free speech. He dismissed charges against a libertarian who was charged criminally for choosing to fly the American flag upside down. Free speech. He directed dismissal of littering charges brought against a Trump supporter who plastered West Easton with pro-Trump signs. Free speech. And yes, he is one of the few Democrats who has been willing to speak to the tea party. Free speech.
. Started working for Democratic candidates at age 12. Was a member of Teenage Democrats and Young Democrats.
. Was a member of Executive Committee of Bethlehem Democratic City Committee.
. Chaired numerous Democratic campaigns in Northampton County over a period of 30 years as well chaired Democratic voter registration drives and county Democratic Dinners.
. Had numerous fundraisers at my home raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for people like Governor Wolf, Joe Sestak and local candidates.
. Personally contributed over a hundred thousand dollars to Democrats.
. Am a pro labor, pro public education, got an F from NRA , support Medicare for all, hired more women and minorities on my staff than any other DA, fought racial profiling , advocated to ban the box, initiated the county’s first mental health court , supported drug court,
I could go on and on. But yes, I am for secure borders.
The First Amendment is first for a reason. Without it, our form of government crumbles. You should support whomever you want in Congress. But I am offended at the trolls who have shouted John down at debates and have even come on his own personal Facebook page to attack him. It is highly ironic that those who preach tolerance are so bad at practicing it. It is also disappointing, but far from surprising, that none of John's supposedly more liberal colleagues defended his right to speak as he was shouted down in the NextGen debate.
While ideologues allow the good to be the enemy of the perfect, it is important to remember that two very formidable candidates are running on the Republican side in a "toss up" district. The only Democrat who can beat either one of them is John Morganelli.
Formidable and Dean Browning should not be used in the same sentence.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if your candidate is as great as it is written. He seems to have alot of detractors as well.
ReplyDeleteJohn is a great candidate, the only detractors he has are the same 3 clowns who post everywhere.
ReplyDeleteMorganelli is a closet Trumpster. HELL NO We Want Wild
ReplyDeleteThe LV For All trolls are a dreary lot.
ReplyDeletePutting little stickers on parking meters is one thing, but according to Westeastonpa.com putting yard signs over no parking and speed limit signs is another. What a wimp that's not free speech that's defacing public property, and a very serious public safety issue maybe even a violation of the motor vehicle code.
ReplyDeleteActually, on the face of what she was charged with, there was no crime. The state trooper could have re-written his citation, but chose not to do so. What he charged did not amount to a crime, but a violation of free speech. The First Amendment exists to protect antiwar protesters. It also exists to support Donald Trump supporters.
ReplyDeleteIt's very simple we want someone, Who will fight us and doesn't simply give us lip service. The simple fact is we don't want a congressman, who as soon as he is elected will get in bed with Donald Trump. We don't Trust him, that is the point.
ReplyDeleteThat lack of Trust was only made worse by the fact that it's quite clear he is the one who paid for that Push poll no matter how much he denies it. If you look at Morgnaelli's latest Fec filing he hired Thomas Severson convicted Criminal to do polling for him, a person who was convicted in 2010 of doing this type of activity(hiding disclosure), and is a known Republican operative.
This only confirms to me that Morganelli is not to be trusted, and will lie when caught, and is simply lying about what he stands for to get the Democratic nomination.
and yes I realize that should have said Fight for us. He is certainly someone who will fight us
ReplyDeleteYou put 2 and 2 together and came up with . Severson conducted no push polls. He did do polling, and at a time different than when the push poll was conducted. You will see that other campaigns paid for polling, too.
ReplyDeleteI looked up Rev. Edwards major donors on Open Secrets and discovered several major I.T. corporations donated some big money to Him.I have no idea why this is happening.Thought the Democratic Party was working against these large corporate donors
ReplyDeleteI am not going to attack the other Dems running for raising money.
ReplyDeleteYour man crush is obvious. Angle and TM must be seriously jealous. Beware the disease of spreading yourself so thin.
ReplyDelete"pro public education"
ReplyDeleteYeah right-o. Why did he feel the need to send his children to parochial schools then? This is pandering for union votes and contributions. Look at what people do, not what they say.
Any Democratic Candidate or honestly any candidate from any party. That would hire Thomas Severson for any reason lacks the moral fiber to hold office, and will never get my vote.
ReplyDeleteBut I bet your support in the box don’t you ? You are a phony .
ReplyDeleteI didn't vote for Sam Bennett and if Morganelli gets the nomination i won't vote for him either. I'll skip over the race like thousands of Democrats did in 2008 or write in someone I can live with.
ReplyDeleteI for one am not looking for purity Bernie, but as a voter, and a Democrat, certainly I should support someone who shares my views. That is what elections are all about. Morganelli is Pro Trump (he voted for him), Anti choice, anti immigrant and pro Gun ("I agree with the NRA 85% of the time" - John Morganelli) He does not represent my values and the things I believe in and I do not think he represents the majority of Democratic voters in the 7th District. having said that I think he will win because the other candidates are incapable of communicating any of this and are running terrible campaigns. Kind of Sad!
ReplyDeleteBernie, 4:32 am's comment could be one person and there three different assklown multiple personalities acting up on your blog.

@realDonaldTrump Pres-elect sent personal note to my son. I worked with Barletta and Kobach against illegal immigration. Pa. most senior DA.

ReplyDeleteIt's amnesty that America can't afford. We have to stop people from coming in illegally. This will be a green light for anyone who wants to come to America illegally and then be granted citizenship one day... The majority that are here illegally are low-skilled or may not even have a high school diploma. The Republican Party is not going to compete over who can give more social programs out. They will become Democrats because of the social programs they'll depend on.

9:16, Morganelli has never tried to disguise his opposition to illegal immigration. He freely admits it. Are you suggesting that our borders be open to criminals and thugs from other countries? Are you going to allow the gates top be wide open to every terrorist organization out there?I disagree with John's position, and think that people who stay beyond their visa period need not be deported absent some security concern or crime. But the majority of this country agrees with John. He does support the dreamers and has made that clear several times. But do you think it is right to have illegals on construction sites, taking jobs away? I doubt the other candidates have anywhere near the understanding of this and other issues that John does, and I know you don't. He is going to be the nominee, and when he gets the primary nod, you can take your marbkles and go home like a spoiled little brat.
ReplyDeleteI won’t support anyone who wants to take any of my legally owned and safely operated firearms.
ReplyDeleteNot now.
Not ever

Whatever. No one is trying to take your guns.
ReplyDeleteThe idea that most illegal immigrants come to the US for jobs is mostly outdated. More are coming to the flee the violence in central America. In the long term, attempting to secure the southern border won't necessarily reduce illegal immigration, it will probably just mean that more people die in the desert trying to cross it.
ReplyDeleteIf we really want to fix the immigration problem, we have to make it easier for people to come here legally, especially by working to reduce wait times for documentation. That way, border enforcement can actually focus on criminals, rather than good people trying to make safer lives for their families.
I agree with most of what you say. But there are immigrants who come here to take jobs or commit crime. I would argue that it should be easier to get refugee status, but I would also agree that refugees need to be thoroughly vetted. A century ago,it was contagious diseases of the body. Now it is a contagious disease of the soul. There are bad people out there.
ReplyDeleteCheck out the FIERCE LV site. They are attacking any and all democrats that are supporting John Morganelli. Apparently there is a bloodbath within the dem party.
