Susan Wild to Resign as Allentown Solicitor
Wild was appointed Solicitor in 2015, and was confronted almost immediately by a federal investigation into political corruption that eventually resulted in a 54-count indictment against the Mayor.
She also had the unenviable task of providing legal advice to two branches of government at war with each other. No man may serve two masters, but a lawyer somehow managed.
She has handled herself with integrity and a sedulous nature that kept the ship of state from foundering.
Readers of this blog know I support John Morganelli for Congress. Ideologically, he is the best fit. But I have immense regard for Susan as a lawyer.

You own views are appreciated, especially if they differ from mine. But remember, commenting is a privilege, not a right. I will delete personal attacks or off-topic remarks at my discretion. Comments that play into the tribalism that has consumed this nation will be declined. So will comments alleging voter fraud unless backed up by concrete evidence. If you attack someone personally, I expect you to identify yourself. I will delete criticisms of my comment policy, vulgarities, cut-and-paste jobs from other sources and any suggestion of violence towards anyone. I will also delete sweeping generalizations about mainstream parties or ideologies, i.e. identity politics. My decisions on these matters are made on a case by case basis, and may be affected by my mood that day, my access to the blog at the time the comment was made or other information that isn’t readily apparent.
A very positive decision on her part. I hope she will now feel free to offer the voters in the district candid and constructive opinions on what went wrong in Allentown and also what specific actions are necessary to return good government to the city.
ReplyDeleteSusan Wild is a class act and did a superb job as solicitor. She put distance between her and the investigation and gave full cooperation to federal investigators.
ReplyDeleteMother Jones
Will Solicitor Wild return the Fed Ed PAC money she received?
ReplyDeleteAnother Pawloski associate leaving the ship
ReplyDeleteYes.
ReplyDeleteYes indeed.
At least as sedulous as,say,Francis
Dougherty.
Absolutely.
Yes.
The sword has two edges ,
ReplyDeleteTransparency was not one ,
Now the edge goes to voters
Who are the bearers of her opinion
To council and the political facts over public votes
Mayor Pawlowski demanded nothing so much as blind loyality
ReplyDeletefrom his executive staff, sedulousness was icing on the cake.
How many jobs, workers, families, individual lives we’re destroyed. Real people, shattered lives, during Miss Wilds sedulous tenure.
Yes. She put distance between her self and the corruption investigation. Others were simple crushed.
Who stops to remember the victims!
A class act.
A real class act.
A superb job.
Today, of all days, the victims will remember the classy supurb job.
Today is a very said day for my family.
Stick it! Show me one picture of the two together. If anything, Mayor Pawlowski feared/respected Wild because she would not go along to get along. Just who are Ms. Wild's victims?? Provide specifics.
Delete@8:23
DeleteSee Molovinsky on Allentown this morning to see victims of Pawlowski’s legal department, trees, plants, animals, birds and good, decent people.
Am I suppose to laugh or cry,
ReplyDeleteboo or cheer?
Where do the joke and the punchline go?
Cutting ties with Boss Hogg? She was hired by the slug and received money from his PAC. If she is to be successful in her run, this is the first step in the process. Second step, and much harder to do, renounce the "rotund one" publicly. Third and final step, expose Pawlowski for what he is. Maybe then she can free the shackles that bind her. She has a steep incline to confront and overcome, however, the sooner she realizes this in totality, the better for her and her campaign!
ReplyDeleteI'm on the fence between Wild and Morganelli. I was for Morganelli until you reported that he voted for Trump. As a prosecutor, I cannot see how he was able to pull the lever of that sexual predator as evidenced by the Access Hollywood tape.
ReplyDeleteWith Hilary went Bill.
Delete“My husband, I’ll put him in charge of the economy.”
HRV
Either way a sexual predator was going to the White House, and one has.
Morganelli for Congress
Still not good enough for me! Renounce him publicly! "Fed Ed" is a cancer and the voters of the Lehigh Valley know. It is sad that the uninformed Latinos of Allentown accept him and the Syrians seek influence with him. But they are not a majority in the 15th Congressional District. Any ties to him will be met with reality and she will never have a chance in politics as long as she is associated with him.
ReplyDelete“She was just doing her job.”
ReplyDeleteWhere have we heard this before?
" I was for Morganelli until you reported that he voted for Trump."
ReplyDeleteI never reported that. Some anonymous commenters like yourself "reported" that. I believe John like some things about Trump. He actually met him twice over the years, and thought Trump was very genial. But John was turned off almost immediately by Trump the president. I think quite a few blue collar Dems liked Trump at first, and now regret it.
Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Delete"Still not good enough for me! Renounce him publicly! "Fed Ed" is a cancer and the voters of the Lehigh Valley know."
ReplyDeleteShe could no more do that to Fed Ed than she could do to any City Council member or the controller. She represented the city, and it would be highly unethical for her to disparage Fed Ed publicly, no matter what she may think privately. If she did something like that, the Disciplinary Board would sanction her.
"See Molovinsky on Allentown this morning to see victims of Pawlowski’s legal department, trees, plants, animals, birds and good, decent people."
ReplyDeleteWhen this first happened, I reached out to Michael Adams. He and I finally hooked up on the day that MM's original story appeared. Then I lost my notes, although I have since found them and will write my own story. My take is that Michael is a victim of the entire legal system. I was always taught that for every wrong, there is a remedy. But I am still unable to determine what that remedy is. He dealt with a city that wanted him out and kept changing the rules, a lawyer who may have let him down, and a magistrate's office that was unaware of what was going on. The push to evict him came from Francis Dougherty, not the legal department.
re: Bernie @ 1:21pm: You wrote this on 11/20 @ 5:18pm: "Like many Dems, Morganelli initially liked Trump and thought he’d be a good President. We’s Niw more than a bit weary of this authoritarian and his rmtwitter fits."
ReplyDeleteI took it to mean that Morganelli voted for Trump. If that was not your intention (given the nature of the thread along with the other posts), I stand corrected.
Well Bernie @ 1:21 doesn't really address the question that remains to be answered, and that I think we have a right to know: did Morganelli vote for Trump?
ReplyDeleteBased upon Morganelli's FB posts it would be a shock if he did not vote for Trump. Most of his commentary seems straight out of the GOP playbook. Ask him, Bernie.
ReplyDelete@2:00pm: You are correct. I just perused his Facebook account. Clearly, he is a DINO and most likely a Trump supporter. I'm no longer on the fence, my vote is with Wild.
ReplyDeleteMorganelli can probably win the seat but I just can't see his Napolonic authoritarian personality in a body of over 400 members. He's used to calling all the shots
ReplyDelete"Well Bernie @ 1:21 doesn't really address the question that remains to be answered, and that I think we have a right to know: did Morganelli vote for Trump?"
ReplyDeleteActually, neither you nor I have the right to demand to know how anyone voted. and since it is a secret ballot, your question is pointless. If Morganelli told me he did not vote for Trump, you'd say he's a liar. What I do know is that JM never endorsed him. What I also know is that, like many Dems and some Rs who initially thought Trump was a breath of fresh air, John is disgusted by the twitter storms and outrageous behavior by Trump.
"Clearly, he is a DINO and most likely a Trump supporter. I'm no longer on the fence, my vote is with Wild."
Yes, Susan is a far left Dem. John is a centrist. That's the only kind of democrat who can be elected, and he will be elected.
A few months ago,I stopped at Machs Gute, a Bethlehem bar, on my way to a meeting. Though I don't drink, I heard their burgers are good and wanted to try one. (They are good). While waiting for my meal, I eavesdropped on the people sitting at the bar. Now mind you, this is Bethlehem, a liberal urban center full of Democrats. The guys at the bar were bitching about Obamacare. In fact, I know quite a few Dems who voted for Trump bc their insurance premiums skyrocketed.
And John supports Obamacare.
We need people in Congress who will listen to both sides of a question and who start looking out for the little guy. Democrats were so busy being politically correct and advocating for the right to marry their hamster that they lost sight of the little guy who is getting hosed. We need someone in Congress who cares about jobs and our shrinking middle class. That person is John Morganelli.
Do I agree with John on everything? No. I didn't agree with Dent either. What I do know is the little guy will get the same fair shake from John that they got from Dent.
You can walk around with a vagina hat, but all that does is make the entire party look silly and completely out of touch.
Time for a return to the party of JFK and FDR.
The Heritage Instutitions Obamacare, AKA, National RomneyCare, is working as designed: a profit center, NOT a care center.
ReplyDeleteIt is a Republican scam.
Pink hat reheated Hilary Clinton as the “far left”!
ReplyDeleteYour father’s best friend would love that!!!
LOL!!!!!!
John as an FDR D?
That’s just as precious.
I love this stuff.
They were not merely pink hats, and unless you’ve buried your head in the sand, you know that many people were offended by them. Extremists, whether on the right or left, have very little support among voters in the 15th. And yes, Morganelli is a FDR Dem. he listens. You ought to try it some time.

ReplyDeleteTHE PRESIDENT: That was asked me for four years while I was Governor of the State of New York. Probably the easiest way of putting it is that it is a legislative matter. My own personal belief is that I would like to see capital punishment abolished throughout this country, but, on the other hand, every law enforcement officer with whom I have ever spoken—not every one but the overwhelming majority of them—believes that capital punishment is a definite and distinct deterrent of murder. It is, primarily, a legislative matter.
I am in the unfortunate position here, as I was in Albany, of having to pass on the question of the death penalty; it is the most disagreeable function that a Governor or the President has to perform.
I think that covers the whole thing in as few words as possible. . . .

Clearly Morganelli could clear this up better, but what policies or beliefs of FDR do you believe he stands for? Beyond his admirable stance on the First Amendment as a prosecutor I can think of no other issues where he has been aligned wth the beliefs of FDR or any other Democratic President who followed him. And his support of Trump when it was clear from the time of the primaries that Trump was exactly who he is today is an embarrassment for anyone seeking a Democratic position on a ballot.
ReplyDeleteIn other words, FDR supported the death penalty. One of your mistakes is to take one area where FDR and JM may have different views, and from there conclude that they are nothing alike. That is an exercise in illogic, and I'm not so sure they are far apart. JM is an advocate up to and including the question of guilt. But when it comes to death penalty, his style changes completely. He just presents the facts.
ReplyDeleteI disagree with JM's view on the death penalty, but this is something most people in our district support. His thinking is very mainstream.
There’s nothing New Deal about John.
ReplyDeleteBetter begin crafting a new narrative.
There’s nothing “far lest” about the neo-liberal” Clintonism of Ms. Wild, or nothing New Deal either.
Two failed narratives don’t an election make.
Back to the drawing boards.
"Clearly Morganelli could clear this up better, but what policies or beliefs of FDR do you believe he stands for? Beyond his admirable stance on the First Amendment as a prosecutor I can think of no other issues where he has been aligned wth the beliefs of FDR or any other Democratic President who followed him."
ReplyDeleteI detest extended debates with people who lack the courtesy to ID themselves. In most respects, John's thinking is very Democrat, it is just not your far left views. He supports Obamacare, unions, stronger gun control, protecting worker rights, protecting and expanding social security, reining in Wall Street, voter rights and about 90% of the Democratic party platform.
You are imposing a litmus test just as General Lee Snover has done for Rs. Ask her how that worked out.
" And John supports Obamacare" Precious. But then voted for a man who vowed to repeal it. And says both parties have good ideas. I think John is in a time warp. There was a time when that was true. The GOP has a record now. Since the South went over to the GOP after the Civil Rights Acts there is clarity about the parties' political positions. It is clear that the GOP cares little for the middle and lower economic classes in this country.
ReplyDeleteGood ideas from the GOP?? Try naming five laws, repeals or amendments passed by the GOP in the last 30 years which benefit the lower and middle class.
I’m waiting to hear what kind of stronger gun control John supports.
ReplyDelete"He supports Obamacare, unions, stronger gun control, protecting worker rights, protecting and expanding social security, reining in Wall Street, voter rights and about 90% of the Democratic party platform."
ReplyDeleteSo then what are the allegedly good GOP ideas that he often touts?
For example, on his Facebook page, when asked about his positions he tells people to Google his name and the issue for his position. Give that a try sometime- google minimum-wage and John Morganelli and see if you get anything resembling a position. Google Social Security and John Morganelli. Gun control. Whether Merrick Garland should have received a vote on his nomination.
ReplyDeleteOr you could Google immigration, abortion, and death penalty and get his Republican positions on these issues.
Bernie Sanders was the New Deal Dem.
ReplyDeleteOdd that John Morganilli didn’t support Sanders.
I get the biggest kick out of repackaging Clinton Dems as “far left” types.
I suppose Fed Ed’s cabnet is chockablock with “far left” Dems.
LOL!
Another trip down the rabbit hole.
Were does this rabbit hole exist that all make claims its even out there?
DeleteMorganelli is a prosecutor with a cop mentality. Almost every cop I know (and I know many due to my own job field) was a tried and true Trump supporter. The ones who weren't a Trump supporter were usually minority officers. #DINO
ReplyDeleteYou have something against cops? That attitude is why Dems come up short.
ReplyDeleteHilary Clinton received more Wall St cash than any candidate in
ReplyDeletehistory and was the world’s largest promoter of International Fracking.
Solicitor Wild’s base are unreformed Clinton retreads.
Tell us more about Allentown City Solicitor Susan Wild as a “far left” Democrat?
I read Facebook posts, too. Based on her Facebook posts, i would place susan on the left side of the Dem party. Nothing wrong with that, but they are not the views of the electorate here. The candidate who comes closest to representing the views of the 15th is JM. That’s just the way it is.
ReplyDeleteAmerican policing as an institution is deeply disfunctional.
ReplyDeleteTo be a knee-jerk defender of the Instution of American Policing, or the Instutional Roman Catholic Church, is to expose oneself as a reactionary force in American politics.
(I’ve worked in LE and I’m a product of a Catholic education.)
This remark is obviously not an attack on individual police officers or Roman Catholics.
I’m inclined to support John.
I do have serious concerns.
11:09: Not at all. I simply lost a lot of respect for friends AND family who voted for trump- especially after the Access Hollywood tape, his stance on building a wall (two of my children are Hispanic), advocating police brutality, pardoning Joe Arpaio, attacks against women, and on and on and on...
ReplyDeleteI have a difficult time identifying with professionals in helping careers (prosecutors, police officers, social workerss, medical professionals, etc..) who voted for that ideological agenda. My neighbor is an emergency room physician and he feels the same way. He works for a Catholic Hospital and says many of his colleagues voted for trump simply because they are against abortion. It doesn't mean I have "something against" medical professionals...I simply have a difficult time accepting it. That's on me...I know it.
John is an FDR, New Deal Democrat.
ReplyDeleteWho knew John felt the Burn?
Cool!
Your bromance of JH and angle is admirable Bernie. Your not feeling the pulse that he CANNOT WIN PERIOD.
ReplyDeleteI supported Ron bc he is my best friend but knew he could never win. I know JM will win, just as I knew Brown would lose. Like it or not, the majority of the 15th congressional district support the death penalty, support dreamers but not illegal immigrants, support Obamacare, are turned off by Triump’s tweets, support tighter gun controls and programs that create jobs. JM is very much this kind of person. He is a centrist who will accept a GOP or D idea so long as it is one that works and helps people. He will draw wide bipartisan support in the LV, will do well in Berks and will win. The argument that he fails to pass some goofy liberal litmus test is one that can be made at the primary. Good luck. With about seven candidates, including two women, he will win easily. Nothing against the others. He simply is the best and is the only D who can win, and he will win.
ReplyDeleteJohn supported the War on Drugs.
ReplyDeleteHow has that worked out?
Oboma Care was written by representatives from the Insurance “Industry” for the benefit of the Insurance Industry.
ReplyDeleteNational Romney-Care leaves tens of millions of working families without the health and dental care they need even as they shell out hard earned cash for outrageous premiums and prohibitive Co-pays.
The ACA is a scam.
Wild has carefully avoided support for Universal Single Pay.
Will John go on record supporting Medicare For All and affordable RX?
Joining the gun grabbers won’t be a net gain strategy in the general election.
ReplyDelete“Common sense gun control” has all the meaning of “I support the troops”.
None.
JM will win the primary but let us be real. JM will win brecasue,1) he has the most name recognition and,2) he will out spend his opponents 10 to 1.
ReplyDeleteKeeping it real.
You're embarrassing.
ReplyDeleteA Democrat who bashes someone for supporting law enforcement is embarrassing. That's precisely what is wrong with the party.
ReplyDeleteLE is an institutions that deserves constant supervision, not blanket support or condemnation.
ReplyDeleteThis dialogues is setting up and knocking down straw men.
John has never seen a bad cop.
How does that work in the real world?
you're funny!
ReplyDelete
