Milides Parking Lot Built on Fill

Try putting a boot on that, Mayor Panto!
For years, the parking lot adjacent to the Milides building has been one of several used at the courthouse complex. But it's got a problem, as you might have noticed by looking at the "Do Not Cross" tape. It's not a crime scene, but perhaps it should be. The parking lot was apparently built on fill, and as you've probably noticed, next to a cliff.

About 20 parking spots have been removed. Public Works Director Stan Rugis, in technical terms, referred to it as a "mess."

"It was built on an old fill, and they just brought demolition stuff in," explained Rugis. "It's going to have to be shored up. You can get 30 or 40 years out of it, but it's going to have to be built correctly."

Now I know why I was offered a blogger's parking spot.

  2. it was purchased by the county in 2007. I believe Milides owned it since at least 1990.

  4. Built on top of old basements and cisterns from back in the 1800's , what would one expect?

  5. "Just like Tidds's career!"

Dave Todd is a very good person and was a very good judge. Most of the case against him will be tossed. His chief accusers were jerks who thought nothing of borrowing $ from him and then stabbed him in the back.

  6. Why would the county build a parking lot on this without first fixing it.

  7. Bernie, how did the budget hearing go? I hear they talked about bridges and the prison. Are all the big mouth dem's that won attending?

  8. 7:28, Ron Heckman and Bill McGee, two of the four Dems who won, were there. Sorry to disappoint you. Seth Vaughn, the big mouth R who claimed he would be re-elected despite missing budget hearings, was absent despite collecting a check to be there. Later that night, at another meeting in Plainfield Tp concerning the shit bakery Synagro is Planning, two Dem council members were there. Lori Vargo Heffner and Tara Zrinski are deeply concerned about skate belt residents.

  9. Bernie I’m posting here about Easton problems because the leftist at Eapress times that are left and have blocked me . Back when this parking lot happened , code people were getting stuff on the side to look the other way . You will know if the East end of the NoCo parking lot adjacent does not have same fault . Well it seems Easton has been doing raids . The scumebags have moved into rented properties and my issue is puplic safety . So what does the city do to the scumbag landlords that don’t comply.. personally I would hang some of them from the bridge downtown but that why I won’t get elected or appointed to anything ,So - we get what we ge deserve ,Mr. Panto is trying but they need help . . The public does not yet trust the cops and remain silent . I on the other hand see a way as a former military scout to identify them and track these characters but it all falls on deaf ears . The issue is we can not progress past a given point until we clean up certain issues . The Mayor is trying hard but can’t -he will be at a stailmate until he figures out how to keep the crud from moving here and settling up camp . West ward regulator people are scared. He need advise from other authorities that are not from here - perhaps! Fix this WIN!

  10. It's not only the Milides parking lot. The building that houses the elections building is also breaking apart. Add a result, water is entering the building and it is infested with mold. Maintenance has a report warning them of the mold danger. Some poll workers refuse to go to training in that building for this reason.
