Trump Supporters Rally Outside Brown Fundraiser

Last night, Northampton County Executive John Brown held a fundraiser at the posh Blue Grille, located along Easton Avenue in Bethlehem Township. Since US Senator Pat Toomey was hosting it, I thought this event might catch the attention of some activists. It did, but it was pretty much the reverse of what I expected.

Instead of  seeing the Tuesday with Toomey, the activists who lined up across the street were Trump supporters. They were waving American and Trump flags. Some carried "Repeal Obamacare" signs, while others held signs saying,"Defend the 2d Amendment."

During the ten minutes or so that I was there, I noticed several cars beep their horns in support of this group. I also saw one woman roll her car window down and shout, "Dump Trump!" The group was friendly and many of them greeted me, even though they know I consider Trump a dangerous demagogue.

Why were they rallying outside the fundraiser for a Republican Executive who supported Trump and unilaterally slashed health benefits for county employees before he realized that he had violated several union contracts in the process? Why were they rallying outside a fundraiser hosted by a US Senator who supported the repeal of Obamacare?.

NorCo GOP chair Lee Snover said she was unable to make this event, but said the rally was basically a reminder.

  1. EEewww. Hasn't Trump caused enough damage to our Country? My God, his 75 minute rant was filled with lie after lie and is proof positive he is not fit for the job.

  2. Trump has not caused any damage, it is the reactionary swamp dwellers and the leftist media who are aghast that something might change.

  3. Oh save the media blame. This insult thrower has broaden the racial and immigrant divide with his rehtoric, He insulted our allies, while pandering to our adversaries and undermined our National Security. He made a concerted effort to undermine the Affordable Care Act by withholding enrollment information soley to limit participation and also destabilized the market by threatening to withold reimbursement. His nationalist and isolationism policy has expanded our trade deficit. His executive orders threatens clean air and water. His lavish trips spending 24% time away from the White Houst promoting trump resorts has blown the secret service budget in just 7 month. The trump Presidency is a swampy deal. Fleecing America.

  4. Comments from both sides continue to avoid real issues. Trump is sending more kids to Afghanistan to die for absolutely no reason. What Bush and Obama completely screwed up, Trump wants to take a shot and he now owns it. Where are the protests? Why is everyone obsessed with stupid shit and name calling? There's nothing to win in Afghanistan. Nothing in Afghanisatn can harm us if we don't let it into the country. Where is Toomey on this? I support a strong defense. But not sending kids as cannon fodder to attempt winning something that's undefined and therefore unwinnable. Ignore Trump's Afghanistan lie at our kids' peril.

  5. There something to be said about the state of the Republican party. In their own words, they don't care what Trumps says or does. They even try to rationalize his lies and then when the media points out contradicting statements by Trump in his own words, they cry fake news. Look how many times Fox had to retract a Breitbart/alt right story picked up on social media? Even Hannity has apologized promoting false traitor stories about John McCain, an American POW Hero. How pathetic is that? Trump professes to support the Military while he dedicates ships commissioned and built under the Obama Presidency, however, not a word mentioned about recent Naval accidents or casualties. America WAS great.

  6. The United States is very good at winning wars. It's just that we suck at nation building. This will be the major, and, I believe, the correct path toward solving the terrorism factor. The military is slowly, but steadily being released from the DC led armchair legislators and will be led and directed by the troops who make war their profession. Social experiments using the world's finest military are over. We are ALL better for that. MAGA!

  7. @06:38, first the Alt-Left and the biased media has been against any change in immigration and believe in open borders [like crooked Hillary]. Second, I do believe you have some good points on winning, however, the Taliban and Al Queda elements have to be tremendously reduced before withdrawal. Elsewise, we will be back again, [like Iraq], in full force and suffering even more catastrophic KIA's and wounded. The four thousand troop increase is not Trump's proposal, he is listening to the Generals who are alleging this is needed. As a Vietnam veteran, who saw Washington manage the war, at the behest of our troops and military commanders, let the professionals handle it and hopefully, very hopefully their assessments and plans can make a difference. The Obama strategy, [if that is what you call it], simply didn't work.

  10. We, the Lehigh Valley Tea Party were there to remind Toomey that we expect him to support the agenda that we voted for, Repeal ObamaCare, Cosponsor National Reciprocity, Tax Reform, etc. Toomey waited until 1 hour before the polls closed on election day, to express support for Trump. Then he wonders why no one is countering the daily demonstrations that his friends on the Left are running in front of his office. He wonders, "where is my conservative base?" Well, we wonder, "where is our conservative Senator?"

  11. A reminder? The LV Tea Party folks were there to remind us that the LV has some of the most brain dead zombies God ever created. God has a strange sense of humor and SHE gave us these folks, and Trump, to remind us all SHE is the only one who can do what SHE wants, not us.

All you Hillary losers remember that :)

  15. To anonymous who doesn't have the balls to state his/her name but will spew his/her hatred. You are obviously a Liberal democrat because that's all you people know, name calling and hatred. America is sick of your tactics. YOU are what has created the pro-Trump phenomena.

"anything they can think of in their anti-Trump campaign"
do you mean wanting trump to be a man of his word?
trump is going to build a wall and Mexico is gonna pay for it.
    sound familiar?
now donnie is going to shutdown the government so the US taxpayers can build a wall?
so was trump lying then or is he lying now?

Comrade trump stated that no one on his campaign had any dealings with Russia/election scandal.
turns out that his campaign folks were neck deep in it.
so is it anti-trump to want to know the truth?
is it anti-trump to hold trump to his promises?

compared to the way President Obama was treated by the right wing, trump is being handled with kid gloves.
the laughable part is trump manages to be his own worst enemy.
the Democrats just stay out of his way and watch him self-destruct

  26. You know in Charlottesville, President Trump was caught flat-footed but still gave an accurate response regarding hate on many sides, but Governor Terry McAuliffe had a complete speech ready to go, condemning the left's shadowy enemies while omitting any mention of the Marxist combatants who came to do actual, physical harm. Why did he have a speech suddenly ready ? No one in the media batted an eye.

Indeed, Charlottesville itself has more than a whiff of this. Because the KKK types obeyed the law and obtained a permit, the officials in Charlottesville and Richmond, Democrats all, knew precisely where the protesters would gather and when. Magically, an army of radical Marxist activists materialized, sans permit, most of them from out of state, as has been confirmed, to confront those who were obeying the law, even if they were saying or believed objectionable things. How would these out-of-state activists know about this rally and where it was being held ? Again, none in the media have asked about this.

When the two factions had been allowed within striking distance of each other by local authorities, who ensured they were not more safely separated, a state of emergency was declared. The park had to be vacated, the KKK side and the Antifa side were somehow pushed together by police despite other means of egress from the park, a mêlée ensued, and the police who herded them together suddenly were far away, watching what they had facilitated. The media were right there so all the mahem could be seen and filmed. Stage-crafting by the Democrats? It seems possible.

It seems that in Charlottesville the left's goon squad was there to ensure that one side speaks, one side controls, and the other side stays quiet or is punished. Democratic mayors and governors seem disinterested in preventing the violence, even ahead of time. Police officers report, as in Baltimore and Charlottesville, that they were told to "stand down," though they knew that harm could have been prevented if they'd been allowed to do their jobs.

But we all know that this isn't in line with Bernie's viewpoints, so expect this to be burned and censored, as he labels it "Identity Politics"

  27. Did anyone ever notice at a Trump rally or even a protest by Trump supporters, everyone is happy and friendly, respectful of the police, just a positive bunch. Then look at the new revolutionary guards, angry, bitter, violent, disrespectful of everyone and everything.

  32. 5:34. It does seem quite odd that VA Governor McAuliffe had a speech, and a quite long one, ready to deliver almost right after the events in Charlottesville was reported by the media. It almost seemed that he had a vision before the event happened and had the speech prepared by his staff, ready to deliver to the media as the blood flowed in the streets of the city.

"Charlottesville Police Chief Al S. Thomas Jr. said the rallygoers went back on a plan that would have kept them separated from the counterprotesters. Instead of coming in at one entrance, he said, they came in from all sides. Headlong into the counterprotesters.

A few minutes before 11 a.m., a swelling group of white nationalists carrying large shields and long wooden clubs approached the park on Market Street. About two dozen counterprotesters formed a line across the street, blocking their path. With a roar, the marchers charged through the line, swinging sticks, punching and spraying chemicals."

so the nazis were starting the conflict.hardly peaceful.
