NorCo DCED Director Sued Over $15k in Credit Card Debt

Tim Herrlinger is Northampton County's Director of Community and Economic Development. A member of Executive John Brown's cabinet, he oversees the distribution of a great deal of money flowing through the county coffers. CDBG grants. Bond money. Casino funds  His department provides the administration of the General Purpose Authority, which has embarked on an ambitious, and costly, bridge bundling program. And he's been sued for $15,884.32 on a credit card.

A complaint was filed in Northampton County Court by American Express Centurion Bank on January 6 (File C-48-CV-2017-00123). After a complaint is filed in court, it is delivered to the Sheriff's office for service. The record reveals that deputies attempted to serve him four times at his Fairview Avenue address in Wilson Borough, but were unsuccessful. They apparently were unaware that he is a cabinet official.

Herrlinger, contacted late yesterday, said he was unaware of the complaint. When asked about four separate attempts by the Sheriff to notify him, he responded, "I am not often home." He said he was aware that Discover Bank was after him for $11,000, but knows nothing about American Express. He declined comment until he speaks with an attorney.

No judgment is on record against Herrlinger in this or any other matter. There are times when credit card holders have legitimate disputes over what is owed. But in view of Herrlinger's high-ranking role in NorCo government, this is something the public should know.

County Administrator Cathy Allen is subject to four tax liens.but a foreclosure brought against her was withdrawn by the suing bank in March.

  2. You take great delight in dredging up dirt on anyone affiliated with Mr. Brown. Where were you during the previous Admisntration. Any word on the consultant with multiple contracts in different area's who happened to be an acquaintance of the executive? That is old hat but you were not really concerned. You now hate the guy and will stoop to any level to get him and others.

  3. What is wrong with these people that they cannot manage their own finances? They have such limited impulse control that they spend beyond their means or use the workplace as a dating service (with a wife and kids at home). We really do have a wide spectrum of miscreants who have ascended to positions of power and influence.

  5. I guess personal debt is a valuable attribute in the "Big Bad Leroy" Brown administration. Once again it shows the ignorance and blatant posture of Brown and his cadre. No transparency, massive personal debt, government approved junkets to far off vacation spots and errant spending of government funds is the norm with this administration. And to double down on this, we have a county council who tacitly approves this form of leadership. If the voters elect these vermin back into office, it shows their ignorance!

  6. @4:24 am: when John Brown's crew makes it so easy and worked to create this narrative for Brown can you blame Bernie for simply writing the facts!?

  7. Another Brown croney crook. Tax cheat as his administrator. Credit card cheat as his DCED director. More ammunition for McClure to use for his narrative that this is a corrupt, incompetent administration.

  8. coming from a dirt ball who could not qualify for a grocery store discount card, but needs to put others down to make himself feel so much better....how do you feel knowing that you are the scourge of Norco, and no one gives a shit about anything you write or say?

    1. No one cares about what Bernie writes or says? That is a wonderful delusion promoted as fact. Bernie is widely read, his writing forces sketchy people to right themselves. This blog is heads and shoulders above the low barrier entry effort put forth by local traditional media.

  9. 4:24, I hate no one, discovered this information in the course of doing a search on something else and was careful about how I presented the story to be fair to Herrlinger. Given his role with the county, I believe the public has a right to know.

  10. Hey BO Hater. Because you do not care for him makes him evil for reporting about alleged irresponsible financial discipline by public officials ?
Did you stay home the day that Logic 101 was covered ?

  11. You'd think that maybe @10:54 is the BM, except that the writing is too good. Wink, wink, just sayin'.

  12. Boy, is that department a mess! Full of dimwitted bureaucrats with bloated salaries. Their former boss quit. She was a do-nothing mess. Her replacement is a credit card cheat. He is earning a fat salary, which he doesn't deserve, and still cannot pay off his debt. What a scrub! The whole department should be audited.

  14. Conflicts of interst are "Petty Details" for the Liar-In-Chief. Why should a credit card bill or outstanding debt be an issue for? Heck a fraud settlement isnt even an issue for Trump supporters. The Swamp just gets deeper. What next, a Fox News scandal? Move along...he look...over there....the crooked media.

  15. It does appear that county economic development department is a real mess and all this since Laurie left the fold. Diane was beginning of the end of a good solid department. All downhill since and all of it brought to us by Johnny "The Clown" Brown. How can anyone vote for this travesty to continue for another four years?

  16. These are really smart people that are talented and well educated. It is amazing how jealous people are. If you weren't so dumb and lazy you could have accomplished something. Instead people just like to bitch.

  18. Yes, they are smart people. Smart enough to get a cushy, high-paying, do-nothing job at the expense of Norco taxpayers. Talented? Not so much. What have they really accomplished?

  19. Bring back Ron Angle to make Northampton County great again!

  20. All of this would be avoided in having the county require their administrators that handle or manage money be bonded and maintain the bond as a condition of their employment. It'd serve as a deterrent to applicants who'd know they couldn't be and also help protect the county's interests.
