Does Courtney Robinson Deserve Your Vote?

Courtney Robinson, a long-time Democratic operative and cigar salesman, is one of 11 candidates seeking a spot on Allentown City Council. But he's one of only two Democrats seeking a two-year position. He only has to beat John Rosario to emerge as the Democratic nominee against John Rosario, a small business owner. Lou Hershman, who has long served as a fiscal watchdog in Allentown, is running unopposed on the GOP side.

Perhaps the most important service a City Council member provides is in the review and adoption of an annual budget, which is $105 million this year. To that end, you should know that Robinson's landlord was forced to sue him twice, in 2012 and 2014, for nonpayment of rent. If Robinson is unable to manage his own finances, can he be trusted to make the right decisions with a $105 million budget?

City Council members are also tasked with responsibility for passing ordinances designed to enhance quality of life. To that end, you should know that Robinson pleaded guilty in 2013 to parking a junker on someone's private property. Is this the kid of person you want to address double parking and noise violations?

  2. Never heard of man named Courtney. Were his parents sadists? If Courtney is transitioning, I apologize.

  3. Thanks for the information on Courtney. I have unsuccessfully been trying to find out about him.

  4. I understand and appreciate where you're coming from, Bernie. I guess I'm just more sympathetic to the problems of the poor. My cconcern with Courtney , however, is different. I've been given to understand that the Queen City Airport just appointed 2 (?) new directors, both of whom will support Jaindl interests. And Courtney is married to a Jaindl so I worry about whether his main function will be to advance Jaindl development interests.

  7. Courtney is not married.... To a jaindl no less. But he does have a gifted, intelligent and talented girlfriend and is not transitioning, for the record.

  8. This guy is part of the Atown young Dem association. He is a trainee of Schlossberg and Schweyer.

  9. He is a puppet of Mann, Schweyer and Schlossberg .
They all want to control City hall and run the school board also.
They were all part of the PAC with Ed and CHARLIE THIEL.
Charlie took $15,000 form Ed and the PAC.
SEE HOW THEY DO THIS TIME AROUND WITHOUT
    MIKE FLECK ??????????

  10. We must not let plebes who can barely pay rent on time to make budget decisions or even participate in any form of public service until they make their land lords whole. Allentown's renting class is unworthy of respect without extenuating circumstances being present.

Maybe Mc Duffie can join them also.

  12. Robinson has just challenged Rosario's petitions.
He must be scared ????? OR getting great advice from Schweyer and Schlossberg.
    Schweyer's a phony and a great bullshitter.
He tapped dance when he was chair of Budget and Finance when he was on council.
We need a good Hispanic candidate to knock him off next time around.
    Norberto Dominquez please run again.

  13. Schewyer, Schlossberg, and Mann oh my. It's like circle death, or should I say Darth. Can imagine these three as your mentors? Allentown is screwed for to come. Although little birds are chirping that one of them may be speaking to the fibbies.

  15. Way back when Fleck didn't pay his rent either and his landlord had a hell of a time getting paid. I see a trend...

  16. anon 7:34 Why does it have to be a Hispanic candidate? Race should not matter.

  17. "Fed Ed" still calling the shots behind the scenes. He is probably going to jail, [and he should], but his legacy still remains and his progeny will rise through his ashes!

  18. One of the reasons for the ballot contest is that I do not have gainful employment. As a small business owner for over twenty years on 7th street in Allentown I put in 50 to 60 hours of work each week in my business, if that is not "Gainful Employment" I don't know what is...
This guy wants an easy ride into November without putting the work into it, it's sad to see it! And to think that there are people in positions of power who back this guy is really shameful!

    John Rosario

  19. CR is part of the "Mann Mafia," and has worked on campaigns for her and her cronies (Schweyer, Schlossberg, FedEd, Linda Minger, etc.). He is a "lacky" who does whatever these people ask - drive them around, knock on doors, etc. Several people have said he likes to dress up in women's clothes - seriously, he supposedly told several people this at a campaign staffer after work party.

  20. I'd change my first name if I were him.

  21. "Several people have said he likes to dress up in women's clothes -"

I believe that was a joke., This is just smearing people like he and Schlossberg over their personal preferences.

  24. Courtney Robinson is not a bad person. It appears that based on everything you posted he doesn't owe anyone anything and took care of what he needed to. There is no reason to hold it against him. Not everyone handles their finances perfectly it shouldn't discount them from being on city council. As a matter of fact when Alfonso was running some ass hat posted shit like this about ME. The information posted was a dispute with my landlord - it was widely spread that it was an eviction - it was not. That landlord sued me for utility payments and I WON the judgement was in my favor. Landlords aren't perfect - especially in Allentown.

Regarding Ed, there were a lot of people who "used to" support Ed P. who are no longer supporters of him so that isn't even a valid argument. I supported Ed once upon a time as did many other good people who didn't know about how corrupt he would become.

He is not married as someone already stated, he lives in center city and he's been actively involved in the community. You can call him "trained by" whomever you want, I have had the balls to actually sit down and have a conversation with him - unlike most posters here (obviously). He is a kind and gentle man. He is intelligent, very balanced and far more capable than half the people sitting on council today. Call him. Sit down and have coffee with him ask him about anything you have a concern about and I guarantee he will be straight with you. I know because I did just that and walked away not only knowing who I would vote for but actually finding a friend.

I am so tired of people sitting back and pontificating about what they believe to be true based on stupid google search. These are city council candidates not presidential candidates - they are accessible - there is no reason to wonder - CALL, EMAIL, FACEBOOK go to meet and greets.

Come out from behind the internet folks - meet the candidates... have conversations.
