On Monday night, Esther Lee and the Bethlehem NAACP conducted an overdue forum on race relations between the City's minority population and a bunch of panelists about the City's mostly white police department. Several instances of possible bias were reported, although they seem to really boil down to questions of respect. In fairness to Bethlehem police, whom I consider the best in the Lehigh Valley, it should be noted that beat cops were not invited. I think the discussion would have been even better had they been asked to come. Despite their absence, however, there were no reports of overt racism from the audience.
In Nazareth, things are different. A lot different. Two years ago, I reported claims that then Nazareth Police Officer Danny Troxell was referring on radio to blacks spotted in Nazareth as UNT (Unauthorized N---er in Town) or UNB (Unauthorized N---er in Town). This report came to me from other police officers. I went with this complaint to Nazareth Borough Council, which pretty much ignored me.
I now have additional evidence to support overt racism at Nazareth's police department. It is a written and signed statement provided by Parking Enforcement Officer Mike Tarnok, who has retired and moved out of the area. Because he is gone, I have no fear that he will experience retaliation. That will pretty much be limited to me, and will consist of snide remarks on the newspaper comment boards.
I have thick skin.
Tarnok’s statement concerns Officer Daniel Troxell. His name is no longer listed on the active police roster, but until recently, he was very much in contention for a full-time job and might still be on the Civil Service list
I have decided against publishing the entire two-page, handwritten statement because Troxell makes references to others who should be kept out of this matter
Troxell starts with some bizzaro claims about the Masons: "[Troxell] feels that Stephen and Fred [two other cops] are using their membership in the Masons to try to make him look bad. Danny says you can't beat the Masons and a lot of influence and power."
From Masons, Troxell goes on to blacks.
"Danny told me he hates 'ni--ers.' He also told me he is not fond of [a Nazareth female] because she 'fucked 'ni--ers.'"
Troxell very nearly became a full-time Nazareth police officer. Troxell is the Nazareth police officer who smashed a door down when a mentally distraught Timothy Nixon had stolen a friend's gun and then called him to tell him. He refused to call back-up, setup a perimeter or just call Nixon. When Troxell kicked in the door, Nixon committed suicide. A dismissal of Nixon's wrongful death lawsuit is in the Third Circuit Court.
Incidentally, Timothy Nixon was black.
I can feel the love.....
ReplyDeleteYou are projecting. You hate the Nazareth officials who called your bluff and you are angry. When an armed man threatens to kill his baby mama and the kid, police have to be careful. Third party stories are what you use to condemn. Why not just give it a rest.
ReplyDeleteThis is an admission of racism and would be admissible in court. It's really time that you give it a rest yourself and stop taking the opposite side on every issue just bc of your hatred of me.
ReplyDeleteTroxell is not racist in any way shape or form. You clearly are mistaken making that statement That is just wrong Bernie. As for some letter. Who knows what circumstances led up to it
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like the new McCarthyism, we are in the process of punishing people for their words and thoughts, yes people should be punished for illegal actions, but this is were the left has gone way too far.
ReplyDelete7:25
ReplyDeleteSpot on!
Hey Bernie , my only objections are of you refusing to spell out the offending word & that you don't recognize that Officer Troxell doesn't compartmentalize his racism in a socially acceptable manner. LVR entertains some and offends the weak minded.
ReplyDeleteJesus was a dark skinned Semite, yet so many Nazareth denizens profess to be Christian while calling out people of color.
ReplyDeleteThis is pathetic. This is an all time low from you. Your haterd of Nazareth is so transparent it makes me sick. Please move out of our town. You are a joke!! People hate you, run you out of council meetings and would love to see you move away. You are so full of yourself and everyone sees this. Including everyone at the courthouse. You do look like a God to some people. All your sumbag followers! Take a hike O'hare, a long hike!
ReplyDeleteSomeone with a vocalized hatred of black people should not be hired as a police office. He has a right to his racist beliefs, but if he did in deed make the statements referenced, it is clear he should not be in law enforcement.
ReplyDelete"This sounds like the new McCarthyism, we are in the process of punishing people for their words and thoughts, yes people should be punished for illegal actions, but this is were the left has gone way too far."
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing remotely McCarthyesque about pointing to an example of overt racism in Nazareth and on its police department. This is an admitted racist, and he admitted his hatred to another law enforcement professional who was upset enough to prejudice what he had been told in written form. Nazareth Borough Council was put on notice about this specific officer two years ago,and by me. They did nothing. So much for Srtye's improved police department.
This guy is pretty stupid to publicly admit he doesn't like blacks.
ReplyDelete"Troxell is not racist in any way shape or form. You clearly are mistaken making that statement That is just wrong Bernie. As for some letter. Who knows what circumstances led up to it"
ReplyDeleteI am not mistaken about what was handed to me. It is not some letter. It is a written and signed statement, by a person who at the time was working in Nazareth, with Troxell, as a parking enforcement officer, and who was upset enough to reduce what Troxell was saying in written form. If you are suggesting that the parking enforcement officer made this statement under duress, that;s a bit of a stretch. Let's face facts. Some people are overt bigots. They should have no place in law enforcement, instead of being winked at by town goons interested in nothing other than illegal poker machines and grant money for the legion.
"Hey Bernie , my only objections are of you refusing to spell out the offending word & that you don't recognize that Officer Troxell doesn't compartmentalize his racism in a socially acceptable manner. LVR entertains some and offends the weak minded."
ReplyDeleteThe question here is not my or Troxell's first amendment right to use a racially charged word. We both have that right. But what people need to understand is that the exercise of rights has consequences. A person who admits that he hates black people should not be in law enforcement. period.
9:22, Did you stop to think that this might actually be an all time low from a Nazareth cop? Instead of being angry that one law enforcement officer was upset enough to reduce this example of overt racism to writing, or that the words were said, you attack the messenger. Did you stop to think that the reason I am exposing this is precisely because I do care about my community? All you can do is attack me personally, but you can't say who you are.
ReplyDeleteHad a co-worker some years ago. He used profanity at work routinely. I found him unpleasant to be around, and eventually so did management as he was terminated for one reason or another. This guy is the same way, he exposes his hatred for blacks, but that's probably just the tip of the iceberg, as I'm sure he doesn't like others for various reasons.
ReplyDeletePeople like this tend to have a lot of jobs in their working lives, and they wonder why they can't find steady employment. But they're too stupid to look in the mirror and see the problem that is holding them back in life.
Bernie,
ReplyDeleteand these public officials are the types that teach our children?! This picture depicts one of the spinkter Zone that probably has a second job with the gloryhole gatherers, and the pic also depicts his look at all the innocent indigent childrens children for witch the carnival in place feeds off of?!

So this "document" that you just happened to come across that just so happens to support your claims, just magically fell in your lap? Come on Bernie, who gave you the "document"? How do you know that this "document" was written by Mr. Tarnok? Why should we believe you? Until you are willing to publish all of this so called "document" and you are willing to tell us how you got it, one can only assume that you are making things up again. Hows the weather in fairy tale land, Bernie? Why don't we ask Mr. Tarnok about this "document"?
ReplyDeleteI have deleted several comments that attempt to divert attention away from and minimize the overt racism in Nazareth with discussions of Hillary and Tge Donald. Stay on topic.
ReplyDelete1:27, the statement was obtained by a Nazareth police officer, and a second Nazareth police officer has penned his own statement concerning Troxell. This statement was given to me some time ago but I did not want to run it until Tarnok was gone precisely bc of the retaliatory behavior you are demonstrating now. I did not publish the statement for two reasons. First, much of it details officers who do not need to be dragged into this. Second, the statement mentions the alleged sexual behavior of a female. I chose not to plaster her name on this blog. This statement has also been shared with the NAACP.
ReplyDeleteYou are a joke Bernie !
ReplyDeleteAll honkey"s are jokes!
ReplyDeleteBernie,
ReplyDeleteJOKES are carnival sideshows freeks and geeks, that is not a racist nor bigotry just a known fact! The actZ, as well as those that pay to get in the big tent both are cognaZant of the storyline as well as freekish sights that may be seen and heard?
Trying very hard to divert attention from the local facts is a story line concockeded right out of the morning gag that isn't even good enough to train a dog! The fact still remains there is to many complicite as well as conflict in the triboro region spinkteriZed?

You should talk to a few of the Hispanic members of the Bethlehem fire department. Racism runs deep in the BFD. Minorities there have been consistently denied promotions, been treated as less than equals, and the fire departments first female fire fighter was sexually harassed by a white male superior officer. The taxpayer was treated to picking up the tab for all the overtime created while they spent more than half a year sweeping it under the rug.
ReplyDeleteask any police dept Troxell has ever worked for and all the officers hate him, Slatington, Palmerton, Hellertown, Moore, Nazareth, where ever he was down south and got fired. Troxell should not be allowed to do anything more with the public because hes unstable plus some.
ReplyDelete"All honkeys are jokes!" --- Really? Go back to cheering for more cop-killings, Racist Anon 5:10.
ReplyDeleteJust showed this to an attorney in Philadelphia. His first reaction was, OMG who would write such fraudelant and defamation of character material. He also stated that if Dan and Mike do not file a law suit against you, they are crazy. I hope they do. A lot of people would like to see you melt away!
ReplyDeleteNo doubt there are those who would like to see me melt away. Strye, Stoudt, conflicted members of Council, thieves who skim at the social clubs, corrupt pols and their enablers and a few bad cops. I have been blogging a long time. I have been threatened and am even the recipient of a few death threats here and there. I had a car window smashed. I have been subjected to vicious defamation. Guess what? I'm still here. I would not write about that statement unless I had it. In other words, I tell the truth while you don't even have the personal integrity to say who you are.

ReplyDeleteTroxel should be arrested for that suit he's wearing in the picture.
Rather than go viral this should have been brought to a supervisors attention, now everything is tainted as I imagine the world would want it to be. Whether, black, Hispanic, white ,etc. prejudice exists regardless. Officers deal with more white trash locally but only "ethnic" arrests are apparently news worthy. Some this becomes a learned behavior by co-workers others prejudice comes naturally.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many problems in this department with racism why stop with Troxell? I remember articles of terminology of "wet backs" being used in the same Police Department. What happened there? they couldn't keep a Hispanic officer (female)either says something.
You want to talk about racism talk to some of the old school council past and present, some have no issues using racial slurs whatsoever.
Bernie your print may or may not be factual (not releasing copy for your own reasons, respecting that if it helps others) but please don't act like Troxell is the actual problem of this department, they clearly have many issues with past and present officers. It does seem as if you and others have it out for Troxell.
Troxell's racism was brought to the attention of Nazareth Borough Council, and ignored, over two years ago. The chief reason i have not published it in its entirety is because i have no desire to drag a woman he trashes into this conversation.
ReplyDeleteA lot of misconduct has been brought to the Nazareth Borough Council, Mayors, Chief of Police and are well ignored. The turn over in employment there speaks for itself last 10 years.
ReplyDeleteThe guy is a racist and used to do background checks on all the men that worked with his wife. Especially the ones were were so called "Black".
