On July 1, as I told you earlier this week, the Commonwealth Financing Agency approved $152 million in grants from 17 different programs. One of these are awards from Monroe County gaming. Don't ask me to explain why the state fund grant requests from Monroe County to municipalities in in other counties. Bethlehem Township had applied for a $250,000 grant for a combination restroom and storage center. It also sought funding for several police vehicles.
It appears that the state has rejected the bathroom grant. This is understandable because of the public high cost. A request for $18,000 for a combination bathroom and storage facility was approved in another community.
But why was the grant for police cars rejected? Funding for police vehicles in Clarks Summit, Archbald, Kidder Township and Dalton were all approved. Granting this request in some communities while denying it in Bethlehem Township creates suspicion that politics are at play.

Bernie,
We are sure the toilet brigade and a secret arena agenda has nothing to do with the police car perposal?!($ This is a need as the transient transplant of the Hudson's floaters continues?!($ Drive down eight street on any garbage night and I will swear too the importation relocation of that particulars particulants too?!($
Nasty to say the least as the triboro continues to be the dumping grounds for all types of things allowable under home school rule billable too the public that can still stand the stench?!($
RE:publican redd no party afilliation
Looks like officials in Bethlehem Twp got shit on and for good reason, wasteful spending!
Financing agency must have looked at their monthly bills statement and saw all of the frivolous spending and said to themselves, why are they requesting 250k when they have so so much already? Stamped on the request: these people are full of shit, rejected!
Poorly written proposal.
Perhaps Bethlehem Township needs to come clean with their residents. They continue to run budget deficits, leave roads (Brodhead & Highland) in disastrous condition, have no long term strategic plan for equipment replacement and have vehicles, including police, falling apart. I see another HUGE TAX increase in our future.
And yet another car accident today (1:30 pm) at Highfield Dr & rt 191 with a car almost into field. When someone dies perhaps something will be done? How many accidents at that crazy intersection this year? Last year?
Say NO to the Taj bathrooms. But, didn't Nazareth receive some questionable grants?
Where does Highland meet 191?
