The very same Democratic establishment that failed to do anything about AG Kathleen Kane has now opened the door to a certain GOP victory in the Fall, at least among statewide candidates. The Obama Rendell Wolf Groen faction has managed to elect the worst possible standard bearers for their party in the Offices of U.S. Senate and Attorney General. Instead of picking an independent voice like Sestak, they wanted McGinty, who they could control. In the AG race, they elected politically ambitious Josh Shapiro, who has never seen the inside of a courtroom. These candidates will both fail in the fall, and drag down several good Democrats with them.

Please Bernie, JM never had a chance. He ran a poor third. Now John please, enough. As many have said no more state runs. People are tired of spending their money on your numerous Don Quixote runs. Stay a big fish in a small pond. You are a Northampton County God. Outside the county not so much.
The Sestak loss was very disappointing- McGinty is a puppet for the Dem party. As far as John, he's a good guy and a very good DA, but he needs to stop running for statewide office. I was in different parts of the state recently, and was inundated w/ Shapiro ads, but not one from Morganelli. Also, he was an early supporter of our arrogant Gov., and got no support in return.....
This is not your parent's Democratic Party. Not even the one of the 20th Century.
The Democrats became unhinged after the 2000 Presidential Election when Gore lost to Bush. What we have now is the extremists masquerading as "mainstream". Outside of the usual Democratic-controlled groups, the welfare-dependent, many blacks and many Jewish people, most of the former union working people are switching to the GOP.
Toomey will win in a walk along with Rafferty in November. Also expect Trump to win outside of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. That may be enough for a GOP win, we shall see.
Wrong. Not going to happen. Democrats will sweep the state wide races. Toomey is done.
I think Hillary Clinton wins PA by 10 points. McGinty wins by default because of Toomey's SCOTUS blunder currently underway, but Shapiro goes down. The Democratic party is going to open a can of whoop-ass on Toomey's SCOTUS choice and the Donald will be relentless beaten down by his own racist and clueless words.

Please refer to history. Our Democrat leaders have done the same thing with Republican Presidents. Time and again. When a democrat does it the deed is responsible behavior. When a republican does it the deed is a blunder.
Puleeese get a grip and check your hatred/anger.
I think that McGinty will beat Toomey. He is not popular with his base any longer, a lot of the Republicans I know call him "Turncoat Toomey". His gun control pushes were among the dumbest political moves I have ever seen, especially when he reintroduced it. He distanced himself from his base and will not pick up any supporters because of it. Anyone who would consider voting for him because of that will flock to the decidedly anti-gun McGinty.
Times they are a changing: according to Department of state web site the ammendment to allow Judges to serve til 75 was defeated! Claude Pepper is rolling over in his grave....
Sheesh, John M did even worse than I thought...did not expect him to win, but between Northampton and Lehigh County, there were over 19,000 votes cast for his opponents. That is no small number.
It is great, that the democrats still believe they will win with their same positions of the 1990's, They have been loosing in every sector except the white House for 6 straight years. They are hanging on to the same policies , in fact moving farther left, they have not figured out that figure head candidates are so out of fashion. even women voters are now thirsting for competence over emotional sentimentalism. I watched Hillary the other night ranting against guns. She just doesn't realize the democrats have lost that battle, it will be a looser for them in 2016. Everyone over 30 realizes democratic policies have been proved a dismal failure, just look at Chicago, Detroit , Baltimore, St. Louis, These are the test case of pure Democratic politics.
John knows he has no chance c of geography and money, but ran to give voters a choice and bc he felt as senior state DA, he had something to offer. And he did. Under the right circumstances, he could have won. I am glad he ran. His candidacy showed that not all Democrats are idiots. I confess I did like Zapalla and could have supported him had he won. But I will not support Shapiro. I will support Rafferty in the Fall. It is not sour grapes. I just happen to think Shapiro is completely unqualified and we should know by now that is not an office for unqualified people.
I see a GOP sweep coming in November from Trump all the way down through the Senate and House. Pennsylvanians see Wolfe as the big problem child in Harrisburg as well, and Republicans will sweep the statewide offices as well as the legislature.
It all depends on how much voter fraud goes on in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh to see if Clinton can win Pennsylvania. All the former union workers out of a job are switching from Democrat to GOP.
After all, what have the Democrats done to earn their vote other than give them food stamps and Obama phones ?
9:13, JM won Northampton, lehigh, Monroe, Carbon and Schuylkill by wide margins. He was 75% in Northampton. He was defeated by geography and money, not his message. Prior to the election, he was aware of this disadvantage. I believe his margin in Lehigh was 64%, which is pretty good.
Jamie, There will be a few pockets of victory for Democrats, but I completely disagree with fellow Dems who think this is going to be our year. I think the GOP will win big here, and I know the GOP is angry. I heard it at the polls, not inside, but when I would step out and listen to conversations.
I agree with Mr. Nemeth's comments above, adding, by most metrics, Blacks are now worse off than they were 8 years ago. Race relations are worse, too, because of the radical liberal "divide and conquer" strategy.
Hillary Clinton, someone who will continue the failed Obama policies, even deepen the damage, shouldn't even be a factor in the General Election. But, she will be, unless indicted. Why? Because many Democrats simply want to win, at ANY cost. Not to mention, the absolutely FOOLISH Republican Party who doesn't really need to defeat Clinton, but rather preserve the power and privilege of Republicans already in Congress.
Pat Toomey, and all down-ballot incumbents, this election and next, MUST recognize too many voters have had enough from the Boehners, the Ryans, the McConnells, the Priebus, etc. Mr./Mrs. Incumbent Republican, your OWN performance is being soundly rejected in 2016. The disappointment in you is strong and enduring.
If Trump is not your party's nominee, YOU'RE OUT, too!

I understand what you are saying Mr O'Hare and of course some Democratic incumbents will be re-elected. However new candidates seeking office can't expect any help by associating themselves with Governor Wolfe or Hillary Clinton. We live in the 131st District and voted for Simmons, because he does represent our views and stopped Wolfe from raising our taxes.
Coyle ran a one-issue campaign on Simmons breaking his "pledge" not to run for another term, but really that was it. Coyle is a good man and I would have supported him if he had won. And that is the same with any Democrat that has the support from the people he represents.
My parents still live in Allentown and are, unfortunately represented by Schlossberg who re-defines the word "creep". Long will get their vote
Republicans gained their majorities due to reapportionment. Everything the conservatives wanted lower unemployment and lower gas prices was achieved by President Obama
Morganelli can retire to County Judge though im sure he wished the 75 age limit passed. Zappala would have killed Rafferty but he now has the edge over Shapiro. Toomey is toast with Trump on ticket that is why he supported "lying Ted" Cruz. Finally history is made: Madame President!
11:28 - I assume then, your pick will be Hillary. That's fine. However, I believe the next Presidential Election will be the most important of our lifetime. Its significance can't be understated.
America's position as a stand-alone, sovereign nation is at stake. Hillary represents a continued move toward globalist governance and a diminished power of OUR citizen electorate. Mega-corporations and world banking cartels doing as they please under a puppet, United Nations-like group. Globalism represents a loss of personal freedom, an entirely new level of taxation, and the destruction of the middle class.
Don't believe it? Look at the European Union to preview what the planned North American Union will look like.

Someone who has seen the inside of s courtroom less than your local constable won the nomination. And then Bill Clinton's "advisor" on environmental issues got the Senatorial nomination. McGinty was hand picked by New Yorker (and NON-PA resident, Chuck Schumer. Uncle of comedian and NON-PA resident, Amy Schumer). So this loss will be thanks to "Inside Chuck Schumer".
Maybe Commonwealth of Pennsylvania residents should meddle in New York elections, as they seem happy to do in ours.
The economics of the Reagan era and the foreign policy of the Bush era have created the mess that is today's America. As flawed a candidate as Clinton is she will win in the Fall. The right wing extremists that are now the backbone of the party do no understand that their confederate flag waving, back to the 1950's mentality is confined to their own little hate circles. They are an echo chamber for each other. American is moving on. They will own their gerrymandered seats but large elections like Toomey and the Presidency are not in their future.
Science, economic reality and lifestyles are real and not defined by the tea party, the Bible or candidates that reflect the 19th century. America is growing up and is less inclined to tolerate two year old tantrums as its vision for the future.
The Prophet!
@3:08 "he economics of the Reagan era and the foreign policy of the Bush era have created the mess that is today's America."
I believe we had a booming economy for over 20 years between 1981 and into the early 2000s. Where were you living ?
To much reason prophet, you will never get through to them.
@3:30 We tried it the Democratic way and what did we get? Millions on food stamps and Obamaphones.
"To (sic) much reason prophet, you will never get through to them."
That's heavy stuff from someone who hasn't mastered the Queen's English. Will more school funding fix dipshits like this?
I agree 110%.
It's great that John runs for office and is so popular in this area, however, don't you think its time for JM to stop hitting his friends up for money only to lose every time.
Sounds like some of these folks have not checked the data. Real income of the majority of Americans has remained flat or dropped since 1979, while the wealth of the top two percent of Americans rose over 800%. Costs have risen and income flat. Reaganomics was and is the "voodoo economics" it was declared to be by one of it's original sponsors.
You need to stop drinking the right wing whacko Kool-Aid. There is a common thread behind the populism of Trump and Sanders and that is more and more people no longer believe the lies of the last thirty years.
I can't imagine how Toomey survives this election. He is wildly wrong for this state, and against the backdrop of Trump, I don't see how he pulls through. Hillary wins by ten points, Katie wins, and Shapiro...who knows. He is a hard worker, but AG is definitely a Republican-leaning seat. Morganelli would have been great. But it's hard for a Lehigh Valley candidate to get much traction statewide as John Brown is about to find out.
Dream on.
