A Milion Reasons To Say No To Slonaker

Don't know where he got his education, but he should ask for a refund.

He certainly has demonstarted his expience. Gootta' love this in a piece that essentially claims that Glenn Eckhart is dumb.

  1. If someone can't proof read their own flyer with multiple mistakes how can they oversee $400 "Milion"?

  2. The Milion (Greek: Μίλιον or Μίλλιον, Míllion; Turkish: Milyon taşı) was a monument erected in the early 4th century AD in Constantinople (modern-day Istanbul, Turkey). It was the Byzantine zero-mile marker, the starting-place for the measurement of distances for all the roads leading to the cities of the Byzantine Empire. It thus served the same function as the Golden Milestone (Milliarium Aureum) in Rome's forum. The domed building of the Milion rested on four large arches, and it was expanded and decorated with several statues and paintings. It survived the Ottoman conquest of Constantinople in 1453 but had disappeared by the start of the 16th century. During excavations in the 1960s, some partial fragments of it were discovered under houses in the area.

  4. 6:50 PM- and those political hacks who went to ivy league schools over the last century have been complete idiots as well. do the names bush and obama ring a bell? and how did that work out? how Woodrow Wilson to go back a few years. how did that work out. give me a successful small business man or woman with no connections to any special interest groups, like the Chamber , the unions or developers.

it has nothing to do with education, or where they went to school. it is about morals, ethics and the courage to do the right thing for the people even if it means you lose your election/reelection. it is all about exposing the waste fraud and corruption we see daily in the local area, the state and on a national level.

politics is dirty and disgusting and that applies to both parties.

  5. Anon @ 8:10 PM

    oh Huff huff huff.

It's a legitimate observation, the first impression a candidate makes and it's a misspelled, unprofessional flier. Come on. Winning a race does depend on impressions voters get from all over- even relatively minor ones. Election lit is expensive as hell. He could have at least proofed it.

  8. @2:10,
So, what you're saying is, that it's ok to be illiterate?

  9. The substance of the flyer is excellent. Everyone can make a typo.

  10. By the way Bernie, in the headline of today's endorsement post, you mis-spelled the last name of Roger MacLean.

  11. Charlie, he made three of them. Pretty blatant, too.

  12. @ 210 AM, what are you doing awake? That *typo* is going to cost you votes, possibly. pretty D-U-M-B.

  13. The office of Controller is independent of the Executive, Judicial, Commissioners, and Departments. The fact Eckhart "blatantly" decided to accept campaign contributions from the DA, illustrates how Eckhart, still does not understand the roll of that office. The Controller must not have an agenda and be approachable by any County worker that has a concern. Slonaker is the better choice.

  14. Considering that DA Jim Martin gave only $250, I doubt there's any basis to your argument, especially since Martin sued Eckhart over his right to hold office. To his credit, it looks as though Slonaker has spurned donations and is funding himself.

  15. I'm not a fan of candidates hating on their opponents. I think Slonaker's fliers reflect poorly on him. Glen has done a good job, he just does it quietly. Honestly, I think the proofreading debacle illustrates what happens when you don't have Mike Fleck around to keep the standard of work high. (SIC) I think Glen is reelected easily, and maybe Hartzell gets in displacing an R as County Commissioner. I would like to see all the R's replaced, but I am not holding my breath. The back lash against D's because of Pawlowski's foolishness will sink D's countywide, but I think there are enough of P.T. Barnum's fools among the City Electorate to keep the PawPuppets in power.

  16. A 24 hour online report suggests that the DA gave another $500 in late Oct. Considering the DAs challenged Eckhart's eligibility to hold the office of Controller and the fact he did not like how Eckhart politicized the DAs budget when Eckhart was a commissioner, I believe the DA was not going out of his way to make these contributions. What this tells me is that they were solicited by the Eckhart campaign. Maybe in the DAs mind the two contributions were token money, however, this suggests Eckharts's poor understanding how the office of Controller must remain independent and give no impression otherwise.

  17. &:20, What all this tells me, by the way, is that you are full of shit and don't know much of anything. I don't know what further proof there can be of the independence of these two offices than that the DA challenged Eckhart's right to have it in a lawsuit. Also, despite my fears, Eckhart has avoided policy and politics.

  18. Hmmm....now I'm left to wonder whether "Slonaker" is spelled correctly.
