Orloski Asks DA To Dismiss Shula's Crooner Case

Should Lehigh County DA Jim Martin dismiss all charges filed against James Ochse, the Allentown crooner who was bodyslammed by an Allentown cop for daring to sing in front of the gentrified NIZ crowd? That's what noted civil rights Attorney Rick Orloski thinks. He fired off a letter yesterday, asking him to "personally review" the matter and withdraw all charges.

Such a decision would be smart for everyone. Allentown police can claim it was a misunderstanding. Martin has come under some unfair flack for a very justifiable defamation action against WAEB and others. This could make very clear that part of his duty as the county's chief law enforcement officer is to protect the rights of others.

Across the river here in Northampton County, DA John Morganelli has on his own dismissed charges filed against antiwar protesters who were charged with trespassing at the Palmer Post Office. He dumped a goofy prosecution brought by a Washington Township cop who charged a resident for daring to fly the American flag upside down. He even reduced some serious charges brought against "Nature Dave" when he walked into a bank with a sign saying, "You're being robbed." Nature Dave was making a political statement, but he scared some people.

Ochse had no political agenda. He was simply singing, exercising his right to artistic free speech.

In the meantime, this Nazareth cop is in serious trouble for singing into his dash cam.

  1. Sick'0 Rick'0 might be the worst "attorney" (for now) in the valley, his multiple failed bids for elected office speak to his congeniality.

His only redeeming quality is his dwarven appearance which can be disarming although I do believe he wears some type of shoe lift.

  2. Tricia Mezzacappa, As you found out the hard way, Orloski is one of the best lawyers in the LV. His runs for office, which often was done as a sacrifice for his party, have nothing to do with his legal ability. Now it is time for your mother to execute a deed f=or for you to come up with $65,000.

  3. Prosecuting Ochse is simply a waste of money.

  4. The guy needed mental health treatment; not a law enforcement beat down. Drop the charges; get him help (he's about to come into some money via a civil award); fire the unprofessional cop.

  6. The video is funny, BUT it is not a Nazareth police officer. You can clearly tell by the patch on his arm and by clicking on the you tube link...... Nice try.

  8. 12:46, I would not fire the officer. I don't believe he can be held responsible for poor training.

  10. Speaking of the DA, does anyone know about the status of his defamation lawsuit? The press hasn't reported on it since the case was filed. Is the defendant using the 'snow-covered-porch" defense?

  11. The silver fox out maneuvered the ghastly liver spotted Sprague in a deft series of legal maneuvers befitting a Johnny Cochrane or Alan Dershowitz. Jumbo Martini can be reached for comment at the Olde Limeport Inne, just look for the bloated crimson ogre guffawing with his connected cohorts.

  12. I will check on the status of the lawsuit and provide a truthful answer. I do know that the Blog Mentor failed to do that.
