Psychotherapist to Run For NorCo Council

This may have come just in time. A psychotherapist is running for a seat on Northampton County Council.

Lori Vargo Heffner is expected to announce her candidacy for Northampton County Council District 3 seat this evening at The Hellertown Historical Society. Since she has no opposition, it's likely she will be the Democratic nominee and will face either Mickey Thompson or John Cusick in the general election.

A psychotherapist at Affiliated Clinical Services, she's a graduate of Moravian College who went on to obtain Master's degrees at Kutztown (psychology) and Temple (education). She believes her background will be an asset to a County charged with the responsibility of delivering human services.

“It's time to stop seeing basic, essential County needs as an either-or issue. We need to work together to accomplish goals and to provide high-quality services with practical, fiscally appropriate solutions."

She hopes to foster open communications, transparency and healthy dialogue.

  3. See most people would think a person of this profession only deals with 'off center' types . Not so . Example of this would be if YOU OWN A BUSINESS mostly a eating establishment it would be in your best interest --before you open the doors to establish'' social rule of engagement''so the staff has an idea how to deal with social issues to retain a customer base that will pay fixed costs.

You own views are appreciated, especially if they differ from mine. But remember, commenting is a privilege, not a right. I will delete personal attacks or off-topic remarks at my discretion. Comments that play into the tribalism that has consumed this nation will be declined. So will comments alleging voter fraud unless backed up by concrete evidence. If you attack someone personally, I expect you to identify yourself. I will delete criticisms of my comment policy, vulgarities, cut-and-paste jobs from other sources and any suggestion of violence towards anyone. I will also delete sweeping generalizations about mainstream parties or ideologies, i.e. identity politics. My decisions on these matters are made on a case by case basis, and may be affected by my mood that day, my access to the blog at the time the comment was made or other information that isn’t readily apparent.
