Sheriff Dalrymple Makes a Trade For More Clerical Assistance
Dalrymple's proposal was unanimously adopted at Council's March 19 meeting.
"We need clerical assistance," Dalrymple argued, noting that there are only four clerks in an 81-person department. He added that "the citizens of this County will greatly benefit" from a "constant, steady presence at the front desk." The Sheriff's Office processes nearly 4,000 license to carry applications every year, This new clerk will also be part of the team reviewing these applications."It will greatly enhance our operational performance and professionalism," he concluded
"I think it's a great idea," said Council member Bob Werner, who thanked the Sheriff for "reaching out."
Council also unanimously agreed to add a probation officer position for the newly created Drug Court that launches on April 2. The salary for that position is $59,404. This person will supervise participants in this program, conduct treatment meetings and participate in the hearings that will be held weekly.
"We can't do it with our current staff," stated Court Administrator Jill Cicero. She added that "we will find the money for this position in the Court's budgets."
Ken Kraft supported the proposal because "it will save us money in the ling run" by keeping participants out of jail. Agreeing, Hayden Phillips stated this new position is needed because Council decided during budget season to eliminate the treatment program at the jail.

ReplyDeleteFile a lawsuit. I believe it entirely appropriate. No LTCF should be issued to anyone who has exhibited anger management problems. Checking the references listed is a way of determining someone's reputation.

ReplyDeleteThis is a proposal to shed 5 PT jobs and add one FT jon. Overall, itis a reduction in government that I would think limited government enthusiasts would embrace.
Unles the limited government enthusiast can't do simple math.

ReplyDeleteFYI: 1 Clerk is dedicated to the county scope and covers all warrants. 1 Clerk is the Exec Sec and covers administrative work. 1 clerk does civil paperwork and takes applications at the counter. The last clerk does License to Carry, License to Sell both firearms and precious metals and Retired law enfocement cards. I believe the last 2 are cross trained to do each others job but with 4000+ applications, walk ins and loads of other day to day operations keeps those 2 clerks very busy. It is about time they got some help.

It is evolved into a great department and I hope tgat some day soon tgat efforts are made to establish a region mal.
ReplyDeleteAnd- As I have warned in the past -the Sheriff will most likely will have to fill a void at Domestic Relations shortly as the ;Deadbeat Daddy Catcher" because Constables will no longer work this detail under revised fee bill. So- We support you Sheriff Dalrymple but the guys can not work for nothing.You could hire the guys that know how this is done an have them on you books.It would not be me anymore --I'm done under present circumstances.
