John Bryant has done a little bit of everything in his interesting life. He's worked at Acme and Food Lane, has been a sport photographer and has even worked for a private investigator. But most of his career, from 1973 until 2000, when he retired, has been with PennDOT. He used to be a regular caller on Ron Angle's radio show. and has always had all sorts of ideas. He may get to try some of them out. He's just filed his nomination petition for Plainfield Township Supervisor.
Bryant is a Republican. I think a Democrat lives in Plainfield about thirty years ago, but he died in captivity.
Bryant would like to see the Township be more transparent. He points out that you can't really tell what happens during a meeting until the following month, when the minutes are approved. He believes that all business, including resolutions and motions being considered, should be accessible on site.
Plainfield Township is a five-person board. The seats held by Glenn Borger and Bill Schmauder are up this year. Bill Schmauder has told several people, including Bryant, that he's not running. But he may have changed his mind. I left a message with Schmauder asking him his intentions. Borger is one of the area's most ardent environmentalists, but I do not know his intentions.
Executive Secretary Joyce Lambert is reportedly running as well. She plans to retire her position, but obviously is still interested in the Township.

Wow, this is why he is running? Really? This is all public information and subject to the right to know law. I would bet he is running to micro manage the staff and perhaps the new Manager. He will most likely become involved in every day to day issue and second guess the paid staff. There is always a power element to these locals running for office.

Word is Bryant hasn't been to Supervisor meetings in a few years. How interested is he if he doesn't? You can't release minutes until they are approved, and it is reported Plainfield does it promptly each month.
Is this really Bryant's platform?
Heard he is 84 years old. Doe she have the stamina to hold office?
Talking to him recently his memory of recent things can be shaky. Yet, he can recall with amazing detail events at a race twenty to thirty years ago.
So he is like the vast majority of voters, elderly. And if elderly voters dislike anything, it's people who are just like them, right?
Here is his site. http://www.nazareth-racecam.com/
John is a young man in his early 70s.
