No More Fireside Chats With Brown

I stopped attending what Northampton County Executive John Brown calls "media events" after he decided to post armed guards at one of them. Late yesterday afternoon, he announced that he's dropping his Thursday meetings with the press, which is likely because everyone else has stopped going, too. posting armed guards at them. Now he didn't make the announcement himself. He's too important. He used his Executive Secretary. A few minutes later, she sent an email instructing  reporters that if they wish an audience, they must go through his public relations consultant, Kim Plyler.

My response to his Executive Secretary? "If I have a question for Brown or anyone else, I intend to ask them directly. I respectfully suggest that Brown has no right to instruct me on how to pose questions. He is simply muzzling free inquiry, as he did his first year in office."

  1. Thank you John Brown for taking a stance against rogue bloggers who give yellow journalism a bad name.

County matters should take precedence over the warped ambitions of the perpetually bereaved.

Untreated narcissism is a frightening condition, do not give the squeaky wheel anything other than contempt.

  2. Thanks again Republican stooges!

  3. @12:35 You don't seem to get the obvious point that this is all reporters, not just the one blogger you loathe. You are the one suffering from narcissism - but you're blind to it. Get some mental help, because you're slipping fast.

  4. His actions speak louder the words. A real asshole.

  5. Every County Executive had an open door policy for the public and that included reporters. I don't know how you justify doing the things he does but brace yourself because every time you think he's maxed out on lunacy, he comes up with some new idea to prove you wrong.

  6. Brown must have skipped Leadership 101. He needs to take some classes fast or maybe even call some past executives for guidance. Apparently Brown believes he is above everyone. He needs to come out of the 3rd Floor Suite and talk to communities and listen, meet employees and show appreciation, seek help from those willing to help for free. He is too defensive for his own good and the counties.

  7. I would like to have a clock erected at the courthouse showing the days, minutes and seconds left for the turd John Brow as our County Executive term.

It will give all of us a little relief and hope that this political douche bag will be soon gone and forgotten

  8. I thought the Sahl contract was over. Brown is a pussy. He might as well build an underground bunker to hide in.

  11. John has all the right enemies. They were always going to hate him. They even gnawed on one of their own in Stoffa. Stoffa was a quintessential gentleman and they called him everything but his name. Haters gonna hate. Keep up the good work J.B..

  12. He was not the worst mayor Bangor ever had and you know it. Bob Janus takes the cake there. Stop with the hyperbole..please.

  13. JB is a classic paranoid personality case. It is very obvious by his behavior and his continual retreat from the public eye. Never been much of a leader ever and the smug attitude a mask to hide the little boy inside. Elections have real consequences. Case in point..

  14. "Keep up the good work J.B.."

What good work is that? Driving the best county workers away? Proposing an illegal $20 MM line of credit to balance a budget. Allowing positions to go unfilled until officers at the jail are at the breaking point? Allowing long lines in the civil division bc there is no staff? Government by consultant? Using your money to hire a propagandist?

He is an unmitigated disaster and if the election were held today, he would lose. It's why Viv Scomilio will lose.

I think it groans on until July.

  16. Worst county executive..ever? I got nothing to argue against that statement and it is only the second quarter of the game but we are losing big time already. Can JB make a comeback? Can he turn this around and win the game in the second half? Odds say..NO!

  17. The halftime show includes lots of clowns, wardrobe malfunctions, and a freak show. Once jim Greggy gets out (If he gets out?), the Brown trainwreck will be in high gear!

    Toot-TooT

  18. If Greggy gets out, rumor is he plans to open a gay message parlor.

  19. Brown does not know what to say to reporters. When his mentor Scomilio looses he can return to the county and hold press conferences again!

I thought the Bangor taxpayers paid him to take a leadership class at Notre Dame, no?

  21. John Brown is loved by the taxpaying voters. he is cutting the waste left over from the Stoffa years. The guy was incompetent and Mr. Brown inherited a real mess.

O'Hare may be on a hate campaign but the truth be told the taxpayers are with you Mr.Brown.

  22. JB lied to the voters and to Bangor council. The ND leadership training money should be returned to the boro as he was already then planning his candidacy for county executive and misled the council by not telling them the truth. The whole thing was a scam. John Brown has no credibility at all. He fashions himself the king of the county now so either kiss the ring or get lost.

  23. this is one taxpayer that does not love brown. cutting waste by raising my taxes? get your head out of your ass.

  24. Technically it was the 5 Republicans on council that raised your taxes. John Brownstain just lied and said county would only have 1million in reserve with his budget. Just a tiny little whit lie and the at-Party Rs panicked and raised our taxes. How is that change workin for ya?

You don't speak for the taxpayers. You speak for yourself and possibly other fools who think Brown knows what he is doing.

  26. some of us weren't even alive when the first County Executive took office. How do you rate these guys/women? When I google County Executive Northampton County it comes up that there were only seven of them. It should be easy enough to rank them since you were alive for all of them.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Most people will agree that the first two Execs, Marty Bechtel and Gene Hartzell, were the best. People will disagree on 3-7. I would list them as 3) Jerry Seyfried, 4) John Stoffa, 5) Bill Brackbill, 6) Glenn Reibman and 7) John Brown.
