AG Kane's Office Spends $1.5 MM For Outside Lawyers

According to an article by Brad Bumstead in The Pittsburgh Tribune Review, state Attorney General Kathleeen Kane has spent $1.5 million on outside lawyers since her election, including a law firm for which she was once employed. She already has 180 lawyers on her staff. She has used these hired guns to respond to Right-to-Know requests, labor negotiations and to help with a suit over tobacco.

One of these paid lawyers denied a RTK request, which was appealed. She then hired a second firm to review the findings of the first firm, and the latter RTK officer reversed the first RTK officer while the request was on appeal.

I voted for he, which shows what I know.

  1. sounds like a lot of cash, but what did her predecessors spend? need something to compare it to.

  2. People voted for Kane because she's hot and wasn't endorsed by Tom Corbett. We now see clearly she's not able to do the job.

  3. Your blog has been quite depressing lately. I'm convinced that anyone serving in office is probably abusing authority and doing something unethical. I used to be naive and think the best of those who run and serve. Now, I don't trust any of them. The ones who appear clean have simply not been caught yet. Government is broken and seems only to exist for the purpose of enriching those who run it. There are two parties: incumbents and those trying become an incumbents.

  4. Don't be depressed. Lots of good people out there, in both parties.

  5. Yes she is not up to this job and I also voted for her what a big mistake. Many female bosses just can't handle big jobs, hope Hillary is not like her.
Her whole office is in shambles!!!

You own views are appreciated, especially if they differ from mine. But remember, commenting is a privilege, not a right. I will delete personal attacks or off-topic remarks at my discretion. Comments that play into the tribalism that has consumed this nation will be declined. So will comments alleging voter fraud unless backed up by concrete evidence. If you attack someone personally, I expect you to identify yourself. I will delete criticisms of my comment policy, vulgarities, cut-and-paste jobs from other sources and any suggestion of violence towards anyone. I will also delete sweeping generalizations about mainstream parties or ideologies, i.e. identity politics. My decisions on these matters are made on a case by case basis, and may be affected by my mood that day, my access to the blog at the time the comment was made or other information that isn’t readily apparent.
