Easton Mayor Sal Panto has appointed Betty Mauro to the Ethics Commission and Melanie Mauro to the vacant city council seat of departing Jeff Warren.
They are respectively the wife and daughter of chief city engineer Joe Mauro. This means that two more people are holding elected/appointed positions who are directly related to a city employee that serves at the mayor's pleasure.
This is what I'd expect from someone who appointed his own wife to City Council.

ReplyDeleteSadly it happens way too often. Check out Wilson's crossing guard crew. Nearly all have family who work for the boro or are related to council members. Don't think they even advertise the positions, they just hand them out to family. Political patronage jobs are great huh?
ReplyDeleteYou should post the old stories about the time Pam was voted onto council by her husband. Who as I recall verbally attacked one candidate who spoke out against it.
