Dent Stands With Israel

Last month, when three Jewish teenagers were kidnapped in Israel, LV Congressman Charlie Dent was among those expressing concern to Secretary of State John Kerry. Now those teens have been murdered. Shortly thereafter, a Palestinian boy was murdered in an alleged act of retribution.

"The murders of children must be condemned in the strongest possible terms," notes Dent in a recently released statement.

He's signed on to two resolutions. One, introduced by Congressman David McKinley (WV-1) condemns "the murder of Israeli and Palestinian children in Israel and the ongoing and escalating violence in that country.” The other, offered by Congressmen Steve Israel (NY-3) and Tom Cole (OK-4), states that the United States supports Israel’s right to defend itself from Hamas’ unprovoked rocket attacks.

“As Israel faces a flurry of hundreds of rockets launched indiscriminately into its borders, it is appropriate to let our ally know that we stand with them and support their right to defend their citizens,” said Dent.

Says Congressman Charlie Partial Birth Abortion Dent as he stakes the higher moral ground.

  2. Your statement is nort really accurate. Dent supports a ban on partial birth abortions, but believes those are state, and not federal, decisions. Now please stick to the topic or i will delete you.

  7. I doubt that Dent, or most politicians for that matter, could even find Israel on a map... This isn't about 'support', it's about pandering to the Jewish community for money and votes....

  8. Condemn killing in the strongest possible terms and then proceed with killing as a response. The logic of war.

you are so very wrong. Dent has visited the middle east, including Israel, many times. He has worked with Congresswoman Ileana Ross-Lehtenen on initiatives that support Israel and he has done so for years. He has conversion ions and meetings with Israeli leaders in their country.

  10. "I doubt that Dent, or most politicians for that matter, could even find Israel on a map.."

Dent can find Israel on a map and has been there several times. He is a foreign policy wonk and does not use international relations to play politics, as you apparently do. If he did, he might be arguing against Israel for fear of offending Allentown's large and vocal Syrian community. Give the anti-Dent hate a rest. he has no opponent this year.

  11. Charlie's Gerrymandered district contains very few Jews. They wouldn't vote for him if built each one a sukkah. His support here is genuine. His support for the unborn's Final Solution shows a balanced approach to holocausts of all kinds.

  12. Well, that's really sweet, but it isn't what we need. What we need is for some politicans to stand up and be honest. There is no hope for this conflict and we should completely detach from it. No money, weapons, or political support for either side.

  13. @10:05, when you say either side you mean israel on one side, and the palestinians, lebanon, syria, egypt, jordan, saudi arabia, iran, iraq, etc. on the other. without aid jordan and egypt wouldn't honor the peace agreements. without aid israel certainly couldn't afford to first drop warning dummy bombs like they're doing now in gaza, before coming back later with a real weapon. you would hate israel even more then.

  14. MM,
With all due respect, any hint of credibility you may have had on this subject vanished like the wind when you deliberately lied about Gaza not being under occupation. Now, I see you have upped the propaganda machine by moving to the pathetic but predictable mantra that disagreeing with you equals anti-semitism. This approach has worked for decades, but it is waning quickly. While Americans can be slow learners, the rest of the International community has maintained awareness that Gaza is a veritable concentration camp under a brutal and illegal Israeli occupation. Common sense dictates that people living under such conditions are likely to be unhappy, and act out violently. Those who act shocked when it happens are living in an alternate reality. No country in the world, including the USA considers the West Bank, East Jerusalem or Gaza to be legitimate parts of Israel. The Internationally recognized borders are the pre-67 ones, and the International community should step in and apply whatever pressure is necessary to make Israel return to those borders. This should include boycotts, divestments and sanctions. If Israel wants a security wall, the current financial aid packages could be earmarked to make that happen, directly on those Internationally recognized borders. Referring to people who disagree with you as 'haters' proves you have no cogent debate here. The hate is staring back at you in the mirror

  15. You're both wrong. The rest of the Arab world hates Palestinians and has no respect for them. Israel is, and always has been, a proxy war between Russia and the US. Religion is the excuse. The cause of the conflict is pursuit of money and power. Israel spies on the US and demands that captured spies (i.e. Pollard) be released. Palestinians welcome al Qaeda into their fold and unleash terror by openly targeting innocents with crude, unguided missiles sent to population centers. Both sides are detestable. I'll hold my nose and side with the guys who don't align with Russia and didn't dance in celebration on 9-11-01.

  17. @6:58, interesting, how even when the sunni and shites are slaughtering each other, and the christians, people choose instead to vilify israel for not accepting a rain of rockets in it's southern area. interesting how you justify, Common sense dictates that people living under such conditions are likely to be unhappy, and act out violently.

  18. ah, so the Israelis should refuse accept having rockets shot their way, but the Gazans should be overjoyed to live under brutal occupation for more than half a century. Be denied access to the basic necessities of life, have the occupiers randomly turn off their water, and electricity, dent their schools text books and allow critically sick people to die at checkpoints because they have no access to medical care?

Of course, they should do this joyfully and be happy and never act out in any way...

I don't know about you, but normal people fight back...the whole situation is a 'chicken or egg' scenario. Which came first, occupation or terrorism? History says it was zionist terrorism and occupation.. Propaganda machines report the opposite, but have zero supporting evidence.

As I said, any credibility you may have had vanished when you deliberately lied about the occupation ending in 2005.

  20. Anyone who disagrees with Molovinsky is an anti-Semite?

Just the same way any fool who dares disagree with President Obama is immediately and viciously branded a Racist?

    I love the post-modern world.

  21. Nobody ever said disagreement with MM is anti-Semitism. You set up that false argument to knock it down. You are a sophist who will make false arguments without blinking. You hate MM (and me) bc we stand up to you and your bullying.

  22. "Israel is, and always has been, a proxy war between Russia and the US"

This is nonsense. The fighting has raged on in that area for thousands of years.

  23. "Israel," the country established in 1948, has always been, and still is, most certainly the tip of the spear of the larger east-west conflict. Look at whose arms, or their derivatives, are being used by each side. Look at where the financial support for either side originates. Israel is a sovereign country that is the only thing resembling democracy in a very troubled region. They spy on us and Pollard should have been executed. But we spy on our ally Germany and expect to get away with it. Watch Iran, Iraq and Syria continue to submit to Russian money and arms. Russia has fomented Middle East instability for as long as there's been a Russia.
