Northampton County Executive Appoints Three New Cabinet Members
Director of Administration, Director of Fiscal Affairs and New Sheriff positions presented to County Council

Easton, Pa. – Thursday July 10, 2014 —John Brown, Northampton County Executive, announces the appointment of three distinguished professionals to leadership positions in the county.  The following individuals will fill top cabinet roles in the administration:  Luis Campos as Director of Administration; James Hunter as Director of Fiscal Affairs; and David Dalrymple as the new Sheriff. They will be presented to Northampton County Council later this month.

“Over the past months, we’ve conducted an in-depth search process to fill these critical positions,” said Brown. “I wanted to ensure we had the best candidates for the positions and we now have them.”

Luis Campos is a well-known management professional and community leader in the region, serving as the Chair of the Lehigh Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and a board member of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber and the Workforce Investment Board.  With deep experience in both the public and private sectors, Luis will provide the county with strong organizational management skills and the ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with all departments and the legislative bodies.
Campos is a graduate of both Muhlenberg College and Lehigh University and holds a Masters in Political Science.  He worked in the PA Governor’s Office of Administration and the Governor’s Budget Office during the Rendell administration, and has held executive roles in the real estate development and business services industries.
“Luis’ ability to lead is clearly evident and his capacity to manage a multitude of different responsibilities will be a strong asset to Northampton County,” said Brown. “Throughout his career, he has enthusiastically participated in community initiatives and accepted responsibilities in several important organizations including the LVEDC and the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Latino Affairs.”

James “Jim” Hunter is a banking professional with over 30 years of experience in fiscal management, loan underwriting, budgeting, and personnel management.  With a career that spans both regional and community banking, Jim served as a Vice President and Regional Manager of Bank of America, and most recently as Vice President and Commercial Lender for Merchants Bank of Bangor.  His community involvement includes volunteer leadership roles in the Slate Belt YMCA, Slate Belt Chamber of Commerce, and Northampton County’s Revolving Loan Fund board.

“Jim has outstanding financial management and leadership skills,” said Brown. “He understands the many dimensions of fiscal policy, capital resources and debt management that make up the environment a government of Northampton County’s size must navigate.”

David Dalrymple is recently retired from the New Jersey State Police as a Major.  A highly accomplished detective, his last posting was as Commanding Officer of the Intelligence Section, directing the efforts of more than 200 detectives, analysts and support staff.  His 25-year career in the state police includes serving in the Major Crime Unit and the Missing Persons and Child Exploitation Units, as well as Chief of the Official Corruption Bureau. In 2007, Dalrymple was named Trooper of the Year.

“I am thoroughly pleased to have a law enforcement professional of this caliber lead our Sheriff’s Department,” said Brown. “The citizens of Northampton County can be confident and secure in David’s leadership.”

  8. "Is Campos the same as the Allentown Doctor near Muhlenberg College?"

    I do not think so.

  9. "Northampton County is a $1 billion economic engine in the Lehigh Valley" which has proven itself to be much less inclined to line the pockets of Brown cronies than originally anticipated.

  10. Looking at the Merchant Bank About Us page, seems as though everybody at the bank is a VP so the title is that, just a title.

  11. Hunter is a crony pick. All he is ..is a local loan officer at the Bangor branch of Merchants Bank and a poor selection by Mr. Brown.

  15. some comments I have heard about Campos. He is the LVEDC and LVCofC plug into he operations of Northampton County. He is Iannelli and Cunningham's man to ensure Northampton County makes the "right" decisions.

Some in the know claim that once you peel away all the public relation type hype behind him you have a clever political move by Brown. A Hispanic in a top cabinet position to help with the
    Brown reelection.

Also it has been pointed out that Mr. Campos actually has less relevant experience in what he will purportedly do tan Brown's pick for Human Services Director that caused such great concern.

Brown seems more concerned with image that substance, as demonstrated by hiring a PR firm to say what County Executives use to say on their own and save a few bucks.

Should be interesting. Word is there are some interesting tidbits regarding Mr. Campos.

    We shall see.
