Allen Nomination Fails

By a 6-3 vote, Northampton County Council has declined to confirm Cathy E. Allen as Director of Administration at last night's meeting. With no discussion, her nomination was supported only by Council President Peg Ferraro along with Council members Glenn Geissinger and Seth Vaughn. All Democrats were opposed, along with Republicans Hayden Phillips and Mat Benol. Though present, Allen made no attempt to persuade Council. Nor did Executive John Brown. Allen is still a Deputy Director of Administration.

The County's current Director of Administration, Tom Harp, is resigning, effective May 2.

  1. Crowd sourcing a joke

What's the difference between john brown and the titanic?

  2. One is listing to starboard, and quickly taking on water, while the other is just a ship

  3. Has there ever been a recall of any Lehigh Valley elected officials?

  4. I may not always agree with some shit you write Bernie, but without your blog exposing things like this, it's possible some of it would actually get approved.

Do expand the story when you have time. I want to know who the 3 assholes were that voted yes. I'll remember when they come up for election again.

  5. Bernie, what is preventing Brown from thumbing his nose at council and just naming Allen acting director of administraion after Harp leaves? He seems very determined to have her as copilot of his Hindenberg.-

  6. The three yes votes are Peg Ferraro, Seth Vaugh and Glenn Geissinger.

  7. 8:05, Recall is unconstitutional. The remedy is the ballot box.

  11. Oh, like Doran Hamann who was acting finance director for 3 years?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Yes. Council can pull the plug on that after 60 days, is my understanding. Nobody would do that to Doran. It would be like slitting your wrists.

    Maybe I understand wrong.

  13. Bernie puts another notch on his lipstick case, hope your happy having sacked her chances to help NorCo before they even began.

  14. If I were so powerful as you seem to think, the Human Services Director and DCED Director would never have been confirmed. Also, the contract for PR services would never have passed. This woman is still Deputy Director, and if she is half as good as Brown claims, I will be among those calling for her appointment in a year or two.

  15. Hopefully this now gives an opportunity to a qualified and deserving county employee!

  16. At this point in time, John Brown stumbled so many times, that I don't think ANY county employee would want to be associated with this guy.

  17. Brown's finely honed business acumen from his mysterious past is serving him well. He and Scomillio are fast becoming the skipper and Gilligan in search of a rescue boat.

  18. First County Executive elected who can`t count to 5.

  19. Makes you wonder what his first budget will look like.

Also it must be clear by now that Geissinger was just a pandering opportunist that played the tea party while being another Rhino like Ferraro.

Too bad the tea party types are straight lever pullers. Hell Seyfried and Heckman are more conservative based on their records then some of these clowns.

  21. I am mostly disappointed with the vote from Seth Vaughn. His claim to be an independent thinker or able to do the right thing when needed are complete bulls*** and his true colors came out last night.
Peg, what can you say about Peg WOW
Geisenger is a complete tool who lacks all knowledge of matters Northampton County Charter and is now as irreverent to NORCO as his awful prayer before every meeting.

  25. I forgot that Brown & Allen got rid of fire chief Bob Owens. That was really classless. I loved chief Owens response to Allen, "stick it where the sun dont shine". These 2 jerkoffs are co-conspiritors in several crimes committed against the town. And Mariano Saveri is the biggest crook in bangor!

Where is Bangor and why does it effect Easton and Bethlehem? Its like the hinterlands or something.

  28. When we flush our toilets in the slate belt, your drinking water level rises. So you are drinking our duty water. Thats how it effects Easton and Betlehem. How does sludge taste?

  29. elections do matter ...but if your not up to the job you were elected to do ...there must be some recourse ...I voted for him , but I have serious concerns about his capabilities ...he has really fallen short and it's very discouraging also disappointing...seek advice if you don't know what your up against !

  32. I understand I'm a little late to share my point of view at this point, but having Gessinger call a degree "a piece of paper" is pretty absurd.

Ask a veteran who put his life on the line and used the GI Bill to get his piece of paper.

Ask a young person who has 2 other siblings and blue collar parents who couldn't pay for the "piece of paper" work a full-time job to make the "piece of paper" happen.

Ask parents who are borrowing on their 401ks to make that piece of paper happen for their kids.

Whether or not you personally feel it's relevant to the position or not, this fact remains: If you want to get somewhere in America, you need "a piece of paper."

Councilman Gessinger, don't demean our accomplishments as Moravian Grads, Lehigh U. Grads, Lafayette U. Grads and NCC Grads just to justify a crony appointment of a fellow party-member.

  33. Typical tea bagger comment. How voted for these people? I don't know many

  34. Geissinger played hard to the teabagger crowd. I don't think they realized he is just another Rhino political opportunist.

    Next election dump him.

  35. ET gave a trophy to council for the vote. Well desrved to sink this turkey of a nomination! But Brown will do what he wants anyway. Tone deaf and without a clue.

  36. John Brown is collecting turkeys from the express/times. By thanksgiving, he will have enough to supply all the food pantrys in the county! JB is a crook

  37. Dark days ahead for Norco. The lord of darkness is raising his army of defective minions. God bless the county employees who are decent and hardworking who will be thrown under the clown bus.
