No-Bid Contracts: No Comment in Stereo

Do media consultants get paid $84,000 a year to say, No Comment? That certainly appears to be the case here in the People's Republic of Northampton County. Let me fill you in.

Yesterday, I told you that three legal experts have concluded that Executive John Brown's no-bid consultant contracts are illegal. The Express Times.adds that County Council members Ken Kraft and Lamont McClure share that view as well.

In his account, Tom Shortell reports, "Neither Brown nor Kim Plyler, Brown's media contact with Sahl Communications, immediately returned requests for comment."

So are we now getting "No Comment" in stereo?

Not really. Plyler, a military veteran by the way, tells me she was never contacted, so there must be a mix-up somewhere. According to Plyler, "John Brown is reviewing the information with the county solicitor and will be releasing a statement as soon as he is done with the review."

  1. After eight years of rudderless incompetency, now we may have four years of funny incompetency. This is all great and a real hoot.

    However, at some point we really need to get serious about running Northampton county.

  2. Why start now? we are on the 10th week of the Brown administration. He has been to every council meeting since before the primary and every committee meeting. Stoffa gave him an office and a staff the day after he won the election so he could be even more prepared and hit the ground running as they say. and this is what he accomplished: Hired an incompetent economic development director with no experience, hire a Human services director with no real accomplishments, Hire a PR firm (for what no one knows) and hire another consultant or two. No cabinet appointments, no direction nothing.

  3. Democrats Republicans, county people, lend me your ears;
    I come to bury Stoffa, Miller, Mancini, not to praise them.
    The evil that men do lives after them;
    The good is oft interred with their bones;
    So let it be with them. The noble Brown
    Hath told you they were not ambitious:
    If it were so, it was a grievous fault,
    And grievously hath they answer'd it.
    Here, under leave of Brown and the rest--
    For Brown is an honourable man;
    So are they all, Reilly, Topper, Chrin, Daub, Scomilio,
    all honourable men--
    Come I to speak in Stoffa’s, Miller, Mancini’s funeral.
    They were my friends, faithful and just to me:
    But Brown says they were not ambitious;
    And Brown is an honourable man.
    He hath brought many captives home to Northampton County,
    Whose ransoms would have the general coffers filled, less council intervention:
    Did this in them seem ambitious?
    When that the poor have cried, they hath wept:
    Ambition should be made of sterner stuff:
    Yet Brown says they were all not ambitious;
    And Brown is an honourable man.
    You all did see that on the executive office walls
    We twice presented him a kingly crown,
    Which he did twice serve: was this not ambition? Milides building, open space, Sheriff’s Accreditation, Archives, West Easton, etc.
    Yet Brown says they were not ambitious;
    And, sure, he is an honourable man.
    I speak not to disprove what Brown spoke,
    But here I am to speak what truth I do know.
    You all did love them once, not without cause:
    What cause withholds you then, to mourn for them? Retribution, more lost cabinet positions?
    O judgment! thou art fled to costly private consultants,
    And Brown hath lost ability to make non party decisions. Bear with me;
    My heart is in the coffins there with them,
    And I must pause till sanity it come back to me in 4 years.

  5. 7:29 AM No he hired Scumillio his new solicitor to play politics and check with ANDY Boy DAUB first! Tomorrow Brown's new media team will release a statement when he clears the $$$$$$$ hurdle.

  6. Scomilio was given deals for his clients by Morganelli because of who he knows, not what. Now his true colors of incompetence are showing.
