NorCo Exec Debate on Tuesday

Northampton County Executive candidates John Callahan and John Brown will square off in a debate on Tuesday night, 7 pm, at Northampton Community College's David A. Reed Community Room (in the College Center). Set up by the Lehigh Valley LWV and The Express Times, this is the only time that the voters will have to see the person who ultimately will hold the highest office in Northampton County.

Brown, a Republican, is Bangor's Mayor. He ran unopposed in the primary.

Callahan, a Democrat, is Bethlehem's Mayor. He obtained a majority of the vote in a three-way primary against former Executive Glenn Reibman and Council member Lamont McClure.

This race is beginning to heat up. Finally. A Brown mailer attacking Callahan's "alarming fiscal record as Mayor of Bethlehem" was delivered to my estate on Saturday morning. That tells me Brown is behind.

  5. Whether it is Callahan or Browne, the next Exec will have no choice. It should really be done now.

  6. Brown's a teatard. He'll sell Gracedale and have the old people shot - black patients first. That's a teatard for you.

  8. The haters are out I see. Callahan campaigns on one thing and does another. Hey just like Obama. Brown has not done a thing to prove he can't be trusted. Why would anyone put the known liar charge of us little taxpayers. If you rent or live at home what do you care. You don't even care that your parents will pay more. You should not even be allowed to vote. Renters do not have a vested interest......Callahan has proved he is the worst of politicians. Brown is not a politician so he is ahead there. How's Obamacare working for you?? Yes we need more democrats.....right. Hunter will not blink about raising taxes and neither will Callahan. Yes taxes have to go up because we have too many services and don't know how to cut one dollar. I trust Brown with a tax increase because I know he won't ask for one extra dollar to spend on one more thing. We on the right will deal with Obamacare in our own way. We won't be wasting a dollar on it I can assure you. You others spend away.....

  9. Maybe he'll wear his referee uniform.

  10. Now THERE is an interesting scenario. Professor Barron in his referee garb blowing the whistle when Callahan commits a personal foul, and then Johnny Casino deluging him with obscenities! Now THAT'S worth the price of admission to this otherwise snore fest.

  11. John Brown need only ask one question;

    Are you the same John Callahan that ran against Charlie Dent two years ago, the person Charlie Dent described accurately in his mail pieces?

    Yes or no????

  12. Give Brown credit. He has regularly attended council meetings and is likely much more versed in county issues than Johnny Casino. How many times in the last 8 years has Callahan attended a county council meeting? His appearance is rarer than a McClure sighting at a committee meeting.

  13. Brown does get extra credit for attending meetings. Callahan must be watching the videos. Last Thursday, I discussed some county issues with him and he was on top of everything. I was surprised and figure he must be watching.

  14. Callahan watches videos online alright. That's why his hands are so calloused and his keyboard has several stuck keys. I think he likes to jack to wrestling videos. I love John and support him.
