Sanity Prevails in NorCo GOP: DeFranco Tops Kerr

Lee Snover with Craig DeFranco
Tea party extremist Bob Kerr, who resigned as Northampton County's GOP Chairman in April, failed to get his job back in a special election last night at the Chrin Community Center. By a 66-19 vote, Committee members picked Craig DeFranco as their new Chairman. Lee Snover was elected Vice Chair with no opposition.

In stark contrast to Kerr, who refused to let members speak at the last meeting, DeFranco pledged that he is "going to listen to everyone."

According to my unreliable blogging intern, Ron Angle,"it was a pitiful attempt at a coup that failed." He added that Kerr, Tony Simao and Tom Carroll were "dragged off to the jail in shackles."

Another Republican, who is a little less colorful but a lot more reliable, told me the meeting was actually "very cordial, very civil."

The election was moderated by Solicitor Brian Monahan, the attorney whom Kerr tried to fire.

Since DeFranco is a former cop, I will have to be nice to Republicans.

For awhile.

  4. Thank God. I like my Rs to be like Ds. Vigorous debates are not good for democracy.

  5. Kerr and his ilk weren't interested in debate. They were interested in imposing their will on everyone else.

  6. Unless the folks wake up the Republican party in Northampton county will be gone. These "winners" are no more suited to hold office then those who did not win. The entire Republican party at every level needs to be dumped.

  7. It's good they're following Ron's advice. Perhaps they'll end up not in office just like Ron. That's a winning strategy.

  8. Wow, this reads like a Jr high paper! The republican and democrats need to focus on the issues all of us are dealing with. Education cuts, crime, rising health costs to name a few are more important than what is discussed on this thread....
