NAACP to Host Allentown City Council Debate

Last time I attended an Allentown City Council debate hosted by the NAACP, I was muzzled. NAACP President Dan Bosket told me that video is prohibited unless waivers are obtained in advance from the candidates. I asked candidates if they objected, and Julio uridy was opposed. Now he's Chief Bobblehead for Allentown Mayor Edwin Pawlowski, and would like to succeed him.

Fast forward four years. Once again, the NAACP will be hosting a debate this Thursday, April 18th, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm for candidates seeking election in the May 2013 primary election to Allentown City Council. It will take place in the lower-level conference hall of the St. James AME Zion Church located at 410 West Union Street in Allentown PA.

I have asked debate moderators to be a bit more transparent than they were the last time to be transparent this time and allow video. I'll let you know what happens.

  1. That's the night of the annual Leonard Buck Dinner of the Allentown Crime Watch. It seems that the Allentown Neighborhoods are shafted again by politico arrangements.

  2. Lord knows your editing will be honest. Are you planning on covering all of Ms. Velez gaffes as a first time candidate or are you going to compile a look how pretty she is video?

  3. I hope someine asks Senor Guridy why he bought and lives in a home that is in the PARKLAND School district.
Please asks Senor Guridy what is his biggest accomplishment in the last eight years. Was it getting appointed by Ed Rendell to his $180k a year job at the DRJTB, or was it voting 100% of the time for whatever the King wanted?

  4. There was no wfmz tape of the man with the inner city water filters publisize by wfmz/gag on the local media outlets¿ At this particular meeting that is when mr fegley was gog to be tazed by the kings police force for being the voice of many¿ Kim was also there and spoke for the populus that makes up the greater part of allentown?

Takin advantage of the disadvantaged has been the way of life for local political parasites to long than I care too remember in allentown¿ The locally politically corrupt machine referes to them as subhuman and undesrving of decent hovels to live in¿ Politicians allow uninhabitable tenaments to be sold as long as they get there piece just like the slumlordian pay to play destruction of allentown¿

  5. No way are they going to let you record anything Bernie.

Treating us like mushrooms, in the dark and covered in shit, is the only way they stay in power.

No Blog Mentor, but I have a pretty good one of you, rolling around on the floor, foaming at the list over your 28-person enemy list. What a sad and little man you are. And I use the term "man" advisedly. you cannot even sign your name.

  7. BH,

They invited me and I agreed. Also, I have no problem with you video taping me or the event. In fact, I believe all of the City Council meetings should be video taped also. (I guarantee there would probably be less drama) I am hoping others agree to attend because I really am looking forward to a good debate/discussion on City policy, issues, and solutions.

    1. Videoed and broadcast on nation tv by the gag/wfmz¿ Ooops that right they all have signed a nondisclousure prenump with the local powers that be¿ They are the first to see the true video's before the editing out of the trouble makers¿ Don't question them on there acts or lack thereof¿

  8. Dan. Bosket works for Alan Jennings. Alan Jennings does not support a free press. You know this Bernie, but you refuse to cover that important story. Your old boy Mr.Jennings is one of the hacks who keeps the rotten structure that is Allentown doing biz as usual. Bosket, Julio, Jennings to the Mayor and the Big Money Boys.
How about the rest of the story Bernie?

  9. 1st, "NAACP to Host Allentown City Council Debate" is not a debate.
2nd, Guridy obviously has an IQ of around 83.
3rd, What is happening in his highness palumsky's court in no way reflects the wishes or desires of the population of Allentown.
Thuggery is the name of their game.

  10. Naturally Julio does not want it videotaped. Todd is dreaming if he thinks Julio will allow it to be videotaped.
The Boss Mayor has Bosket/Jennings covering for his stooges Julio/Moto, the Dominican Dream Team.
Everybody had their role to play.
.........and in the end BOH covers for Jennings. Bernie and Alan have an understanding.

  11. The NAACP needs to disband immediately, they are a throwback to the KKK and other hate groups.

  12. The Allentown NAACP is a historic group. Good people, good work. It will recover from the current unfortunate influence of Jennings and CACLV. Right now they are afraid, like so many others, to publicly buck the Mayor or Jennings. Give them a break.
12:21 comments speak for itself. How sad.

  13. Why would he want to be mayor and drop from $180,000(if that is true 7:41) to $95,000 a year in pay?

Agree. moving to Parkland SD is not smart politics.Schools are the number one concern in the city. No amount of new office space will fix th problem of the terrible school situation.

  14. Does anyone have any way to prove that Julio lives in Parkland school district? How would one go about proving this without stalking him? I am very interested in this - if he doesn't live in the city that is HUGE and the people should KNOW but we need PROOF...

  15. you can live in the city and be in the parkland school district parts of the 17th ward and 18th ward are in the parkland school district

  16. The easiest way to fond out what precinct and school district Julio lives in is for someone to go to voter reg and check his address on his petitions. If he lives in 17P or 18P you have a point. I work Monday and am having cataract surgery Tuesday, so I won't be roaming around for awhile, unless they allow you to drive with a 50 foot red tipped white cane!

This is correct. I am sure Julio lives within the City limits.

  21. I realize that you can still live within Allentown and be in the PSD. I strongly believe that an elected official for the city of Allentown where the VAST majority of residents children go to ASD should have his or her children in PSD.

How can someone be "in touch" with the city and what goes on it when he/she isn't even involved in it and really has very little vested interest in it. While I realize the council is separate from the school board, I believe it would create a sense of being out of touch with the (again VAST marjority) of people he is supposed to represent.

This isn't about legality imo, it's about how I feel and how I think city residents who have children in ASD would feel.
