Geeting Displays Schadenfreude Again

I have little use for people who delight in the misery of others. Jonathan Geeting first demonstrated that tendency when Republican activist Charles Snelling killed himself. Now, after word has broken that Ron Angle's son has a serious addiction problem and has been arrested as a result of gunfire during a drug deal, Geeting calls this tortured soul a "Chip Off the Old Block".

"Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, And do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles" -Prov 24:17

Based on your logic, Jonathan, your parents must be real assholes.

  1. Although I have never have had personal dealings with Ron Angle (Jr. or Sr.) and disagree with his views often, I feel for him having do deal with this type of problem. These situations rarely end well so I wish him all the luck in the world.

It's odd that 18 year olds are considered mature enough to vote, serve in the military, and are legally adults but when it comes to crimes, addictions, etc., they are kids and the sons/daughters of so and so.

  9. I thank god every day that my wife and I were able to rear our children and never had to deal with drug problems. We like to think our children never did those things but deep down inside we have the feeling that maybe, and I say maybe, they tried it and made the intelligent decision to not do it a second time. We tried to teach them that you don't need drugs to make yourself feel good about your life or yourself, but doing good deeds and being a good friend, you could be on a high that will last you a life time. Not all kids get the message. I want to say to Ron and his wife, My thoughts and prayers are with you tonight. No one deserves this nightmare, and there are thousands of parents out there that feel the same as me.

  10. Hokie Joe,

Though he has led a public life, Ron's family should be off limits to assholes like Geeting. The notion that Ron is responsible for his son's addiction is ridiculous, but I am sure he and Sharon both blame themselves. They don't need lowlifes like Geeting to kick them around.

My father is not responsible for my alcoholism. I am. Someone who would attempt to blame him for my sins would be rebuked.

Should I blame Geeting's mother bc her son is an insensitive asshole? That would be wrong, but that's exactly the kind of mentality he displays.

  13. Jon posted one sentence that said "As if the police weren’t going to find out he got robbed by his drug dealer" and then copied the article from the Express Times, and you go after him? Go after the ET if you are so upset... All Jon did is the exact same thing that you do which is post blogs about what is already posted in the local media....

  14. Typical O'Hare hypocrisy. You have made a career out of bending the truth to destroy people. All Geeting did was post a story. You on the other hand are an evil liar.

I do feel sorry for the youngman and if he has a problem, I hope he gets help. His biggest problem is his fathers behavior. Because of his father, I would cut the young man some slack. However, firng a gun at people is a very serious offense that goes beyond addcition. I hope he gets help but the permit must be pulled and weapons confiscated. You fight gun permits in the wrong hands,I am sure you would agree.

  15. Bernie I could not agree more. I hope the Angle family is able to come through this and that something positive eventually comes out of this. Addition takes far too many in our community and impacts one in four Pennsylvania families. I may not agree with Mr Angle's politics by I do have compassion for their family.

Mr Greeting addiction has genetic and environmental factors and it is not the fault of the family. I am in recovery myself for 26 years and although I am responsible for my recovery I was born into a family with a high level of alcoholism and then made some dumb decisions to do around age 12 to do things that as an adult I know to be unwise given my family history.

  17. I haven't checked Geeting's blog in many months - not since he blew off my carefully crafted listed of top albums of 2012.

Anyways, Geeting does seem to delight in Angle's current misery. And then here in these comments, he directs Angle to "look after his own." This doesn't sound very left-wing liberal to me. It doesn't sound anything but mean. And stupid.

Geeting: ALL families have horror stories. Get off your high horse. If you think your own family is perfect, then you don't know your family yet.

PS - Bernie - The homophobic comments here…they gotta go.

I am so very glad that the perfect people with perfect lives and perfect children are able to post so sanctimoniusly here. Ron jr. obviously has problems, he must face them and the whole family must be part of the solution, but rather than mocking them and looking down our noses, lets support their efforts and the family. Do not hate the addict, hate the addiction and understand that intervention is needed before he becomes unrecoverable and a life long part of the society of drugs and crime.

Remember is could happen in your family too!

Charles was a prince of a man. A real gem. In these times he is missed.

They're gone. I was not offended by them as i did not consider them homophobic when I first looked at then.I only saw the humor. I looked at them again and agree. My failure to delete sooner is an indication of my own insensitivity. I have allowed several comments from "NorCo Twink" in the past bc they are funny but I agree this is also insensitive to the gay community. I ask whoever comments under that name to try something less offensive to the LGBT crowd.

  26. Been struggling with what to say on this one.

The reactionary side of me would love to see a blog titled, "Geeting's Mom a Crack Whore" because I can't think of any other reason he is the way he is other than drug abuse in the womb.

The compassionate side wants to urge him to get help - but that hasn't worked withe the blog mentor, and Geeting is as much off the rails mentally as the other guy is.

But the reality is that it is Geeting's parents fault, and a common fault it is - we as a generation have raised a bunch of petulant, spoiled, rotten kids who are incapable of doing much of anything productive. So even if Geeting's mom wasn't a crack whore, it's still her fault.

So I come back and agree with Bernie.

Fuck off Geeting. Take your hate back to NYC and keep it there.

  27. The issue isn't this young man's addiction but the choice made my Mr O'Hare to comment on someone else's inappropriate comments. Therein lies the problem. Addiction is a terrible disease and he needs help, but commenting on someone else's below the belt comments is laughable, especially when you allow heinous comments about people here all the time, as long as they are about the people you hate. By associating himself with you, this outcome was ensured the very moment you decided to comment Bernie.

  29. When people use slurs and derogatory language towards LGBT folks in says nothing about the target but tells clearly what the intent was. Slurs towards LGBT folks only reveal what that persons fears are. The days of targeting people with LGBT slurs is loosing it's sting.

We all have to keep our ears to the ground and contribute to building a bridge to understanding. The year is 2013.

  30. This comment by Clinton Oxford is outside of the realm of what is known about the nature and origin of addiction. Addiction is a brain disease verified by research. Gravity is also known as a scientific theory. Back in the 1970 addiction as a disease "concept" was referred to as such as the research was just coming in. It has shown overwhelmingly that addiction is a brain disease and has been recognized as such by the American Medical Association. This is my area of expertise in which I hold a Masters Degree and 23 years clinical experience:

  31. The point of the post was that Daddy Angle is a dumb dumb and Baby Angle is also a dumb dumb. What kind of a dumbass asks the police to intervene in a botched drug deal? If this is about something harder than pot (the article didn't say) I'll feel a little bad for laughing at the guy, but come on you gotta know better than to go to the police.

Also gotta LOL at the idea that I have a "blog mentor." I believe the term you're looking for is "troll"

    ReplyDelete
  32. No, Jonathan, the point of my post is that you delight in the misery of others. It makes you a despicable human being. This is the second time you have delighted in the misery of others, and I am tempted to remove my link to your blog.

My reference to the Blog Mentor's comments has nothing to do with you. He does not give a shit about you or your issue, whatever that is. He has his own agenda. The only thing you have in common with him is hatred.

  37. Geeting, no one cares what you have to say. Hopefully you'll never have to deal with a family member with an addiction. It has nothing to do with being a "chip off the old block."

It is a tradegy and something that I'm sure has been a struggle for the entire family. F--- Off!

  38. As someone who overcame substance abuse, with friends and family still trying to beat it (and a few that we're beaten by it), he had my sympathy thought the first half of the story.

He lost my sympathy when he chose to fire a gun at a car full of people.

I lost any guilt about ridiculing him when he reported it to the police and wrapped the story in lies.

    ReplyDelete
  39. 12:07 Your comment makes it clear that you are full of shit. In order for one to live a life in active addiction, lying and a lot of it is required. Stop trying to cover for Geeting's ignorance by revealing your own.

  40. Ron has always been there for those in need. He has always supported drug and alcohol treatment and mental health care. ( Charles Snelling was also extremely generous to all those poor souls in need. ) We should support his family in their time of need.

  41. 12:23 lots of lying, to your loved ones and yourself, certainly is required to live a life mired in addiction. Lying to the police about the people you just shot at, however, is not.

He may need to be sent to a SCI for treatment.

  44. Addicts "do not differentiate" which part, exactly? Lying to the police, or shooting at a car full of people? Lots of addicts get ripped off by dealers without breaking out a gun.

  50. WOW!!!! I don't care if little Ronnie is an addict or not, he shot at a car full of people ... and then flat out lied to the police about it. Kinda like his father, papa Ronnie did years ago when caught shoplifting in NJ.

I find it hard to believe that anyone here would be using "addiction" as an excuse if little Ronnie ended up killing someone. Just like an alcoholic who drives drunk, this kid put people in harms way because of the decisions he made. And he should pay the price for those mistakes as well.

Again, he could have legitimately killed someone when he shot his gun. There is no justification for that.

  51. Title 18 Section 2701 & 2702, provide for a 40 to 54 month minimum sentence for intent to do bodily harm. A tragic result of youth gone wild. "It is very clear that God has loved Ron jr. and his Dad to death. They have been loved to death by God our savior.

And word on the street is there is more love on its way in the pokey.
