Zawarski Decides Against NorCo Exec Race
Zawarski, a Republican, would be challenging Bangor Mayor John Brown, who filed his petitions on Friday and was bringing in more today.
As a Bethlehem Township Commissioner, Zawarski has been a pleasant surprise. He's a quiet member with something of an independent streak. He's a Lehigh grad, as is his daughter. Unfortunately, his son became a lawyer.
Last night, I learned that Zawarski was being courted to run by NorCo GOP Boss Robert Kerr, even though Kerr had previously pledged his support to Brown. Kerr even offered that he would o out and get the 250 signatures himself, according to what i'm told, but I'm unable to confirm this yet.

Your story is not correct, you should have called around before posting rummor and assumption.
ReplyDeleteActually, it is accurate, right down to Derr's involvement.
ReplyDeleteAgain Mr. KERR's job as chairman is to get Republicans elected...and since Mayor Brown came around months ago and Zawarski just decided he might run on friday anyone with even a 1/4 of a brain would no noone would pro.ise 250 signatures over 2 days! You should not be printing false information or even information that you heard. There is a reason you are receiving false information and it is sad for you that you dont have the integrity in your column to continuously write falsities and pass them as fact.
ReplyDeleteNo really, your story is VERY inaccurate. You have the facts all wrong, even the Chairman's name is not correct. (even though I believe that part is Ron Angle's and your little inside joke)
ReplyDeleteThe truth here is that Mr. Z didn't know to piss or get off the pot until two days before the deadline. Now he wants to blame the Chairman and the Committee for his lack of planning. Maybe the question here is "Why did Mr. Z want to get into the race with only two days left?"
There has to be some republican with a better chance of winning than brown. He's awful as mayor, has no personality, has alienated 90% of the voters in Bangor, and his public speaking ability is at a 7th grade level. His wife is the bread-winner and the persona in that couple. maybe she should run?
ReplyDeleteIt's true I mis-spelled Kerr's name, and that was completely unintentional. I have corrected that error. I believe the rest of the story is accurate. Whether Marty was undecided or not has nothing to do with the fact that he was being courted by Kerr.

ReplyDeleteI suspect that what really bothers you is that my story is accurate. i did spell Kerr's name wrong, and for that I apologize. But Zawarski was considering a run, and Kerr reportedly promised to et those signatures.
And unlike you, I have enough integrity to take responsibility for what I write.
Marty Zawarski is precisely what is needed in Northampton County. A relatively young guy/newcomer to the political arena. A successful business man with fresh new ideas. NOT A POLITICAL RETREAD!! Too bad he did not get in earlier and was ready to go. He would be a wonderful breath of fresh air. Not one of the running candidates has done anything good for where ever they came from except running up the debt by spending and spending. What a bummer on this one.
ReplyDeleteYou can beat the drum that your story is correct all you want. But it's not. Maybe you should ask Mr. Z the date that he first met with the Chairman and the Vice-Chair. That information alone will prove that the numbers don't add up quite right.
ReplyDeleteThe same Chair who asked a racist to lead them all in prayer?
