Rendell Stumping For Callahan, Not Reibman

In his campaign literature, Northampton County Exec candidate Glenn Reibman includes a forty or fifty year old picture of him with former two-term Governor Ed Rendell. He quotes Rendell as having said, "Glenn Reibman's vision and leadership in economic development is unmatched by anyone." Looks like Rendell has found a match. He's coming to the Lehigh Valley to stump for Bethlehem Mayor John Callahan.

That's what happens when you quote someone in your campaign literature without getting his approval first.

Rendell will campaign in Bethlehem Township in support of Bethlehem Mayor John Callahan’s bid for Northampton County Executive. The former Governor will headline a rally for Callahan on Tuesday, March 26 at 6PM at The Event Center at Blue (4431 Easton Ave, Bethlehem, Pa.  18020).

Everyone is welcome. Even the press. Even the pseudo press. Even bottom-feeding bloggers.

“As a former fellow Mayor, Ed Rendell understood the unique challenges that the city of Bethlehem faced," claims Callahan. "I always knew Bethlehem had a friend in Harrisburg when Ed Rendell was Governor and I’m honored to have his support.”

While Governor Rendell was in office, Mayor Callahan served for two years as the President of the Pennsylvania Municipal League and was appointed to the statewide Ben Franklin Technology Board, which created the first keystone innovation zone in south Bethlehem, helping to build a neighborhood with high tech jobs for the 21st century.

The Callahan Campaign is asking those who can afford it to for a $25 contribution at the door.

If you want to avoid seeing me, it will be $1,000.

  1. Rendell is now a paid schill for hire. Eight years ago he endorsed Glenn Reibman, now he is backing Callahan. That shows what money can do.

Of course all are welcome just be sure to bring your $25.

Why not remind of us of some of the things you said about Rendell when he endorsed Reibman over Stoffa. You had quite a bit to say.
Then again you also had a lot to say about Callahan when he ran against Dent.

Yes, it is true. Money can buy a lot of things. Even a cmapign full of paid schills.

  2. You headline from July 17, 2007 should apply:

Rendell Should Keep His Philly Nose Out of Pa 15th Congressional District

Which is most of Northampton County. Boy the tune changes when Rendell stumps for your chosen candidate.

  3. You should read the article. My objection was that Governor Rendell and the Pennsylvania DCED provided grants in excess of $100,000 to Sam Bennett's ridiculous Properties of Merit. I have been proved right about that idiotic organization.

Generally speaking, I have liked Rendell. He leads from the front.

  4. Unlike Corbett, Rendell like President Clinton is more popular now than while serving as Governor. It took some time to see that Rendell was right on a lot of issues. Unlike Reibman, whose record of scandal, mismanagement, cronyism and high taxes have hounded him after he left office. Only a fool would publicly endorse Reibman. This Executive race will be about McClure and Callahan. Rumor has it that Boscola (Senator) has endorsed Reibman. I hope it isn't true. Her standing will have dropped considerably in my eyes. Anyone backing Reibman will pay a price for promoting mismanagement in Government.

  5. Stomp?

Ed is revered as the godfather of PA fracking. PA drilling was a goldmine and PA was the wild west under Rendell. Corbett tripled the cost of doing business and imposed a host of onerous regulations. Fracking needs Rendell back.

  6. "Rumor has it that Boscola (Senator) has endorsed Reibman"

She circulated for him. Her husband worked for him so I would expect her to endorse him out of loyalty.

  7. Rendell only polls well in a match-up with Corbett. A poll of the lesser of two evils. Rendell has not enjoyed any more popularity since leaving office. In fact, it was probably a mistake for Reibman to use the quote and a bigger mistake for Callahan to use the endorsement. Points for McClure in all of this.

  8. Yeah, that McClure is very shrewd in not accepting the endorsement of anyone except Barron von Footinmouth.

  9. Is it true that Reibman was responsible for the swaption?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Reibman was the one who first put forth the swaption. When he left office, it was positive for the county (that is: making money for the county).

Stoffa refused to actually manage the swaption, and the result was that it morphed into an albatross.

The lesson here is simple: any investment, not properly managed, can become a massive liability.

  12. Rendell was all in favor of the controversial NIZ and, by extension, the $ 177.1 million dollar Pawlowski Palace of Sport.

  13. The Morning Call had a front page article on Sunday stating that the NIZ, which may or may not be good for the City With No Spending Limits, is not good the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a whole.

    Thanks, Governor Cardboard Check.

  14. Ed Rendell taught John how to cover up financial misconduct and family scandals that result in the loss of taxpayers' police cruisers.

Then, he taught Callahan how to make an unqualified asshole out of the blogger who used to rail about sleazy shits like Callahan.

He represents the very darkest, shittiest, most untrustworthy political sleaze in a long time. Bernie O'Hare said so:

  15. 1:18 did Callahan steel your girlfriend in middle school or something? LOL. If you know your accusations are so factual and true, have the courage to put your name on the post instead of hiding behind a post that you can claim anything and everything without any facts.

  16. Moderates have no ability to fight for their principles because a Moderate's only prinicple is to keep his/her popularity rating over 50%.

The Government has no business building a $ 177.1 million dollar Palace of Sport but people like Ed Rendell DON NOT think that at all.

One day, it's all about evil rich white guys in the NIZ ... the next day, it's all about Governor Cardboard Check and how so very cool and hip he is, in fact.

    The entertainment here is unbeatable.

Public school education or does one have to pay extra for THAT?

  19. I'm not the one accusing people of wrong doing. You are! State the facts of what you are accusing him of and state your name. I'll bet my mortgage you don't have the "intestinal fortitude" LOL. Anyone can state gossip on this site. You claim to know so much detail, lets hear the facts according to you with your name attached to it!!!! I've got a $1,000 says it never happens! LOL

  20. So Bernie when are you going to report on the petition numbers for the county council candidates? Any challenges there yet?

    ReplyDelete
  21. There's no "steeling" going on. Bernie has investigated Callahan's sleaze in detail. Even John's supporters know he's a bit of an ethical mess. He's just a bit dirtier than Reibman. McClueless just doesn't show up for stuff. What a bunch. But of the bunch, Callahan is particularly troublesome. You can't make this kind of moral and ethical crud up. Bernie didn't.

  22. "steel you girlfriend"

More of the High School type thugary the Callaham clan is known for.

I think it is hilarious that Ramdull endorsed Reiberman and Callaham. Both have every right to use the od pol's words. MClure will end up benfiting from all the confusion. I hope Reiberman quotes the ols gov over and over again.

Now that is funny "steel your girlfriend" guy. You new Long Dem's have no sense of humor. That is one reason voters arr turned off by your thuggish candidate.

    Ya Maroon, you!

I have no intention of sitting down and counting them. There were no challenges as of 4:20 PM today.

  25. 1:18, I raised questions when they needed to be raised, and pulling out every stop, was unable to implicate Callahan in a cover up. I later learned, as a result of a conversation with Bethlehem's then Comm'r of police, that Callahan at no time contacted him or the police concerning his in-law's accident. There is no record of any calls, either for Callahan or the police chief. A news editor told me that, on Superbowl weekend, it is very possible that a reporter would miss getting the story. I also spoke to Callahan, who told me he stayed out of the matter. I believe I was right to raise the issue I did, but was satisfied by the answers I received from several sources. Because of the election, you just want to keep raising the same issues that have already been answered. I am more concerned about the truth.

  27. "Anyone is BETTER than Glenn Reibman all over again, for sure"

If you liked Reibman you will love Callahan. He is Reibman on steroids. Calahans gang is some of the ol; Reibman cronies. He has developers and wheeler dealers just salavaiting at the chaqnce to buy the county. Their backroom deals are legendary in Bethlehem.

Better be sure you elect a better county council than you have now or the county woll be sold to New York.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hard to imagine anyone slaming Reibman, then supprting Callahan. One is just a younger version of the other. Except he is even worse.

  29. what's the over/under on McClure's vote, since his folks seem to be populating the comment section.

    12%? 13? certainly, no higher than 15.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I don't know what all the bickering is about. When it's all said and done, Callahan will win this thing by a wide margin. I'm not from Bethlehem, or affiliated with any of them but look at what has happened in Bethlehem in the last decade. Then ask yourself......do we really want Reibman in charge of anything ever again in this county? McClure is weak. He will be lucky to pull in 10% of the vote.

    ReplyDelete
  31. "I'm not from Bethlehem,"

You guys are funny. Of course you are not from Bethlehem little Long Dem, of course you are not.

People are wise to the Callagoon tactics. He will be lucky to get a majority of the Bethlehem vote. How about that North Bethleehem Fire Sation he closed. Also his effort to have the city take over garbage collection.

The Bethlehem success es can be laid at the feet of Ken Smith and Don Cunningham. Callahan took the Casino money and still had to ask for a tax increase.

  32. Just read Reibman's literature... He improved the criminal justice system be creating the Domestic Relations Building??? ....

So anyone receiving or paying child support and/or spousal support is involved in the criminal justice system (and by extension a criminal) in this guy's eyes?

Astounding, to say the least. Worst part is, I very briefly considered voting for this guy.
