Prendergast: Loser Wants to Be Winner

Over the past two years, Easton Attorney Tim Prendergast has lost 200 pounds. He should be quite proud of that accomplishment. But now, instead of losing, he'd like to win the District Judge seat vacated by Gay Elwell.

Like Antonia Grifo, Prendergast is also the son of a prominent Easton luminary. His father is the late Jim Prendergast, who was both an attorney and a State Representative from Easton.

After graduating from Dickinson Law School (that's where I went), Tim has practiced law in Easton for the past 10 years. He is also a part-time Public Defender.

I missed Tim's announcement. But he claims in a news release that his grandparents and sister, in addition to his father, were involved in public service. I'm embarrassed to say I don't know who these people are, but will try to find out.

Eight generations of his family were baptized at the former St. Bernard's Church, which was named after me.

In addition to fellow Grifo, this judicial slot is also being sought by Easton Code Officer Sharbel Koorie and Constable Lance Wheeeler.

This is starting to shape up to what is going to be a really good list of candidates for what I hope is a really good race. Good luck to all!

Once upon a time there were 2 lawyers, a Code Officer and a Constable running for judge:

May the dirtiest ending win!

Tim get slammed bc he has facial hair. Antonia get slammed bc she wears glasses. How about looking beyond that?

and their religion?

Roman Catholic. We just went over that.

Don't know much about him, but his old man was one of the good ones. It's good to have good choices.

St. Bernie, I had no idea! Is Clairvaux a Hellertown neighborhood? I always suspected you had "connections." Can a brother get an indulgence?

P.S. Your confessions here are rather Augustinian, although not nearly as spicy.

This guy is a winner!

Yeah, he comes from good people. His Dad received the Navy Cross from actions in Saipan. Lost his arm from wounds but became a lawyer and raised a big family. Was an inspiration to his kids.

I did not know Jim well, but know he was tight with my Dad. They would sail together, and during thee trips, my Dad invariably found a way to toss Jim - who only had one arm - in the drink. He'd swim around like a corkscrew. I can tell you more stories about that, but better not. People who think I'm a bastard never knew my Dad.

Your dad was a tough person. You don't survive what he went through during the war unless you had those rare qualities. Jim was an equal. What amazed me about both was their ability in later life to have a good time and a good laugh despite the scars of war. Of course, a little gin and whiskey always helped.

Holy Cow! If this guy lost 200 pounds what did he use to weight? He still looks like he is a good 300 pounder.

Both Predergast and Grifo need to drop out if they are not running on there own reprutation....And Grifo is not the one for the job at all.

"Both Predergast and Grifo need to drop out if they are not running on there own reprutation.."

It's "their", not "there". Rather than telling me what is wrong with Attys Grifo and Prendergast, why not tell me what is right about your candidate?

Bernie, both are real decent ,educated and experienced people,I know what your thinking, but given the field ,and what this job is now, what would you what to to decide if a defendant fits the criteria for trial? Both do not need this occupation, but would be willing to serve, is that wrong? One more to announce shortly anyway.
