Leslie Altieri Attacks Marcia Hahn Over Sandusky Investigation

Marcia Hahn
The Sandusy investigation?

That's right. In a news release, State House candidate Leslie Altieri has essentially called her opponent, incumbent State Rep Marcia Hahn, a pedophile enabler. Them's fightin' words. Here's her news release.

On Wednesday, October 3, 2012, Marcia Hahn and fellow House Republicans walked out while the house was still in session when House Resolution 520, which requests the US Attorney General to investigate whether or not there were Federal Violations associated with the Jerry Sandusky case
.
This week, representatives twice tried to bring the Resolution for a roll call vote, and twice Marcia Hahn wouldn’t stand up and let a full investigation be held. Then, in a bold move, Marcia Hahn voted to cut this legislative session short by 2 days in a procedural loophole that prohibits the discharge of resolutions within 6 days of the end of a legislative session, ending the possibility of a federal investigation into the Jerry Sandusky case.

Marcia Hahn this year has cut funding to Veteran’s services, cut $900 Million from education in 2011 then made further cuts in 2012 which has continually raised our property taxes and eliminated programs like cash assistance for our most vulnerable citizens and HEMAP for people to stay in their homes. These are programs that assist families in our community that need the most help. Hahn also voted for salary increases both years she was in session. Now, Marcia Hahn is cutting justice for the victims of the Sandusky case.

Leslie Altieri, a resident of Bethlehem Township, is challenging Hahn for the 138th House District because the education of our children and their safety must be our number one priority. When representing our district, Hahn’s partisan politics and corporate interests are ultimately hurting our veterans, fixed income seniors and working families. Property taxes have increased, our children’s education is suffering due to gutting of our public schools, and now one of the highest-profile child abuse cases won’t get an independent federal investigation.

“I was willing to give Marcia Hahn the benefit of the doubt because people believe she is a nice person - however how nice is it to the constituents of our district when she votes against our best interests “.

Apparently, House Republicans did scatter when State Rep. Anthony DeLuca called for a vote on the appointment of a lawyer to determine whether the Sandusky saga might have included violations of federal law.

That could be because we already have federal lawyers to do that sort of thing. They're called United States Attorneys. They need no House Resolution to investigate possible federal violations.

Right before an election, this seems politically contrived.

But instead of running, Republicans should explain why they did what they did. I have forwarded this news release to Rep. Hahn, and will publish any reply I receive.

  1. Reading the link you provided regarding Rep. Briggs, it looks like he is specifically asking not only an independent body of attorneys to investigate, but also the U.S. Attorney General.

For the quell any ideas of being tainted, there should be transparency. A little sunshine exposed on this will put everything to bed.

  2. She can claim whatever she wants. In that Distric Hahn wins by at least 5%, probably 10%.

  3. I don't think the DOJ or the US Atty's office exists to respond to state house resolutions. That's my point. I don't know why Rs dodged this.

Pants on fire, Leslie. You never were willing to give your opponent the benefit of the doubt. This is a commonly uttered, disingenuous statement that comes from liars.

Have the guts to defend your positions without being phony. Just say what you want to say and don't couch it in disingenuous bullshit.

Marcia's in a very safe district and wins 70% to 30%.

Thanks for playing, Leslie. We have some lovely parting gifts for you.

  6. Those of us in the district will remember Ms. Altieri supported the NIZ. She will go down in a ball of fire!

  7. She's got a point. The Repubs want to protect Governor Corbett, who is a central figure in this tragic event.

  8. 15 investigators for Bonusgate, 1 for Sandusky...why?

  9. Sandusky is in jail for life.

The people who gave the City Without (Spending) Limits the notorious N.I.Z. should be in jail, too.

Perhaps I am just jealous because my wife needs a cushy job, too, but does not know the right people?

Sandusky is in jail for life, end of story.

  10. Corbett certainly was a central figure in this sad chapter. He did a remarkable job after inheriting a delayed and mangled investigation that included the disappearance of Centre County DA, Ray Gricar. Gricar was declared dead and his computer and files were dragged from the bottom of the Juniata River. It is Corbett's investigation that ultimately put the predator in jail for the rest of his miserable life. I think Ed Rendell was eating a cheese steak with gas fracking buddies at an Eagles game while Corbett was working the case that resulted in convictions on 45 counts. Leslie Altieri is silly and noisy and grasping for something to gain he more votes than her mom's and cousins. Her campaign is only noteworthy for its invisibility until now. Nobody will remember she existed in about two and half weeks. She should smoke dope in a Harrisburg hotel room if she wants party support and true political staying power.

  11. Corbett delayed bringing charges because he knew it would hurt his election chances...meanwhile, Sandusky continued to rape children...plain truth.

  12. I know its a throw away vote, but I won't vote for anyone who approved the congressional redistricting map.

  13. The PA House is authorized and empowered to conduct hearings at any place in the Commonwealth to investigate any matter provided for in such resolution.

The DOJ serves as counsel for its citizens. It represents them in enforcing the law in the public interest.

  14. This is funny on both sides. The resolution - and Altieri's attempt to use it - is undoubtedly political grandstanding, and Marcia Hahn is, once again, a stepford rep in the mould of her predecessor.

She has no idea why she walked out. She followed, like when you are at Mass and certain folks don't know when to sit, stand or kneel, so they just look at the person next to them and do what they do.

In fairness to the D side of the trough, though, this resolution is no more ridiculous, perhaps less so, than the non-stop nonsense that comes from Dent and all the other "proclaimers" that do little else.

  15. Joe Paterno should have done more. Thats what most people say. he is dead.

Tom Corbett should have done more. he was in the position to do more than Paterno, but Joe takes the fall. Corbett will be defending himself for the next 12 months on this. If the repos want to walk with their tails between their legs, fine.

Paterno is now the head figure related to this sad case. by next november it will be tom corbett. Take that to the bank

  16. Corbett's investigation resulted in conviction on 45 counts. He was very good at what he did.

Paterno defenders and family are no better than NAMBLA types.

Trying to get votes on the backs of crime victims is sick. Altieri is a disgusting ghoul.

She was slightly less disgusting when trying to make her prospective constituents pay for Allentown's NIZ disaster. She's already gone for the wallets of the electorate that will soundly reject her filthy tactics.

  17. In response to why I decided to put out a press release regarding this issue is because of the following reasons. First, Bernie I did not call Representative Marcia Hahn “a pedophile enabler” nor would I. Rather I wanted to point out that Representative Hahn decided to walk out before the legislative session was over for the day with her Republican colleagues. Then second, when the House was later back in session voted to cut the 2012 session short by 2 days to avoid having to address any House resolutions to be discharged within the last 6 days in session. What job can you walk out on and then exploit a loophole to avoid completing the tough tasks later? Keep in mind this was after the State House voted 2 years in row to increase its own salary and benefits. I am not trying to politicize the Sandusky incident any further than it is already an issue; rather I am trying to point out that Representative Hahn has failed to tackle the tough issues when they come across the floor. I will not be a rubber stamp and will stand up for the people of my district and their needs. I want voters to know what their current Representative’s actions and record is before they have to make a decision on November 6th.

    1. These bozos walked out and we still do not have a transportation funding plan in PA.

There is plenty of work to do how could the possibly find time to cut the session short?

  19. Leslie, I'll leave it to my readers to decide what your intentions were with the negative attack over Sandusky. I personally believe you were trying to taint her. I think you have a point with some of your other complaints, but the Sandusky rip is needlessly inflammatory.

As for being willing to make tough decisions, it is Marcia Hahn who stood up and bucked her party by voting NO on the payroll lending bill.

  20. If I leave work early, or miss time, it comes out of my pay. We should demand the same of the representatives we employ.

  21. "The DOJ serves as counsel for its citizens. It represents them in enforcing the law in the public interest."

Precisely. It seems we already have a good set of lawyers to enforce our federal laws.

  23. Corbett will be on the hot seat during his re-election attempt. He did NOT do enough to stop Sanduskey. he knew what was going on. And he Knows what happened to Ray Gricar. He will have to answer for it.

You mean was given a pass by her Leadership, right Bernie...if final outcome was in question, she would have done her proper little duty and voted yes...please get a clue.

  27. 10:19 - You are nuts. Corbett was busy taking massive contributions from Second Mile members and dragged his feet and did nothing to help this case along. Unless of course you consider ignoring the 1998 incident and then taking 9 years to prosecute case based on the 2002 incident.

  28. BOH, instead of covering pothole fillers, why not look into Corbett's handling of this matter before attacking a person for being "inflammatory."

  29. In my opinion, the Sandusky attack was a cheap shot designed mostly to attract voters. It was needlessly inflammatory.
