Reillyville Post Correction: Apology to Diane Teti

On Monday, in my Reillyville post, I chronicled the adventures of Occupy Allentown, which joined in a recent First Monday mixer located in the heart of J.B. Reilly's headquarters. Before being stopped, they captured some video of Reilly's future plans, and I wanted to get that to you.

I met with them on Saturday night, at which time I was clearly told that Diane Teti, formerly of Allentown Brew Works, tried to eject them. I certainly did not pull her name out of thin air. She was identified as the person who asked them to leave.

Teti, when she read this, went apoplectic. She demanded I remove her name, threatened libel, called me an "idiot," "mean old man," etc.  She also complained on Facebook, where her friends called me an idiot, mean old man, etc.

Because I really am a mean old man (I prefer the term miserable bastard), I refused to back down. But then the Occupy Allentown people who spoke to me came on my blog to deny Teti was the person who asked them to leave.

Now it was somebody else who approached them. Now they are claiming they were just made uncomfortable, not really asked to leave.

Now this puzzles me. A lot. I took detailed notes of our meeting. I even went over them with these fellows. I certainly made no mention of a person named Diane Teti. They brought her up. But they now deny that she is the person who asked them to leave.

Frankly, at this point, I don't have much confidence in anything they told me.

I like to get my facts right, and when I make a mistake, have an obligation to point it out. Also, this matter is obviously important to Teti. She believes I only mentioned her because of some animus towards Allentown Brew Works.

I withdraw my public claim that Teti is the person who asked Occupy Allentown to leave. I apologize publicly to Teti for any sleep she lost over this kerkuffle.

In hindsight, I should have done a little more digging.

  1. I hope she sues your worthless yet misogynist ass. You really have a knack of going off half cocked. It is part of the reason you have led a crazy life.

Bernie, You and I rarely agree on things... but this was the right thing to do. This post exactly what was needed to be done... and if anything that comes from this you have learned not to trust the "Occupy" movement...

  3. FDAA, I like to joke about it, but I really do try to get my facts right. I believe this is an instance in which I failed, and I have to point it out for the sake of my readers.

  4. Nice not censorship on anon 1:46. Of course that is the O'Hare way. You may not attack others posters, unless those posters disagree with O'Hare.

  5. Hey anon 2:23 am, I'll play by the rules of love and not the O'hare way. Someone needs to expel some love onto you as such: GO FUCK YOURSELF, TOO!

Can she sue for libel considering some would say she's a semi-public figure working for the top PR agency in the region.

  8. Hyperbole does have its short comings. The post was entertaining I will make every effort to avoid anyone named Teti.

Your libelous statements were nothing compared to her immature and overemotional attack on the "mean old man". Someday she will be an even meaner old woman.

Too bad Occupy, you lost credibility.

Hopefully Bernie realizes a crazy life is infinitely more interesting than a do the right thing life at the cost of personal autonomy life, any day.

  9. Annon 7:36 a.m.: "Occupy" had credibility? I'm also shocked they didn't feel comfortable at a business card exchange.

  10. 6:42, I don't care what the hell she does, as I told her myself. After 6 years of blogging, I'm used to defamation threats. If I'm not getting them, I'm doing something wrong.

  11. Bernie, mistakes happen. A lot of things were talked about on Saturday including that Diane was there. She was brought up when it was mentioned that the Brew Works provided the free food and beverages. You asked if the Fegleys were there and were told no, the only person we knew associated with the Brew Works who was there was Diane. It may have been a mistake to assume that Diane was there in an official capacity for the BW but that is the only way she was brought into the conversation. I know it's hard to keep things straight with everything that was talked about, from your running, to wishing molovinsky was there to identify the history of the buildings in the video, not everything we talked about was relevent to what you wrote, and a mistake was made. your right, you did not pull Dianes name out of a hat, it was brought up by Occupy but not as the person who implied we should leave (and was stoped from ejection OA by Jim Vaughan who later tried to stop the filming)

I'm sorry that this mistake has caused such turmoil, I feel as if both yourself and Diane went off the deep end on this one, of course it's always better to dive into the deep water then shallow...

To those who claim Occupy lacks credibility, remember that before there was any township lawsuits there was Occupy pointing out the unfair field of taxpayer subsidizing private developments.

I don't care how much propaganda The Morning Call cranks out.

  14. Ms. Teti was very quick to call you out, yet here is an apology and she's nowhere to be found.

Guess we learned a lot about her lack of character today.

  15. Anapology from her is unnecessary, but her F/B friends are getting ugly.

  17. It's just the beginning of a long list of apologies you are going to have to make...for perjury, for using tax money for your private law suit, for defaming people for exercising their democratic rights, for harming people on your your blog because they dare to disagree and the list goes on and on......

  18. 1) Perjury? That was part of the Otter motion. He never quite explained how that happened. just threw it out there. It's been dismissed several times now, and when the Supreme Court dismisses it, i intend to pursue a Dragonetti claim against Otter and his clients.

    2) I never used taxpayer money for a private lawsuit. Another false claim, and one that has been bounced out of several courts. See #1 above.

    3) Anyone who feels I have defamed them is free to sue me. I take responsibility for what i write. I do not believe I have ever defamed anyone.

    4) Harming people on my blog? I try to tell people what really is going on. When a racist tuns for West Easton boro council, people have a right to know. Things like that.

You are mentally disturbed and know nothing about victory or truth.

  20. Bernie,

You and I are old school guys who are accustomed to taking people at their word. In this case, you got screwed, found out, admitted it, and apologized. Old school would be case closed. Nowdays, name calling, insults, and threatened lawsuits. Isn't progress wonderful?
