Trayvon's Mom Seeking Trademarks For Her Son.

You own views are appreciated, especially if they differ from mine. But remember, commenting is a privilege, not a right. I will delete personal attacks or off-topic remarks at my discretion. Comments that play into the tribalism that has consumed this nation will be declined. So will comments alleging voter fraud unless backed up by concrete evidence. If you attack someone personally, I expect you to identify yourself. I will delete criticisms of my comment policy, vulgarities, cut-and-paste jobs from other sources and any suggestion of violence towards anyone. I will also delete sweeping generalizations about mainstream parties or ideologies, i.e. identity politics. My decisions on these matters are made on a case by case basis, and may be affected by my mood that day, my access to the blog at the time the comment was made or other information that isn’t readily apparent.
Maybe its so that complete assholes like this do not get to promote their "sexiest entertainment" club nights by using her son's image:

That's pathetic, I agree, but so is attempting to profit from a loved one's death, and BEFORE the facts are really known.
ReplyDeleteI just think its pretty cynical to conclude that this woman is trying to profit from her son's death by seeking trademarks, rather than trying to seek a modicum of protection against the rampant exploitation of her son's death by other people and organizations.
ReplyDeleteI obviously don't know her motivations, and neither do you, but I think you have to go to a pretty dark place to jump to the conclusion that she's pursuing monetary gain for personal profit off the death of her child.
That's me. I have since read news accounts in which the mother denies having a profit motive and merely wants to use it for other families with similar tragedies. But I have no difficulty in believing in the capacity of one human being to profit from the misfortunes of another, even if it includes a family member. I have seen it often enough.
ReplyDeleteI guess better her than someone else. She might also want to secure trayvon.com.
ReplyDeleteI suspect that this might turn out not as what it appears to be. To me he looks like an innocent little kid.... looks can be deceiving.
I would like to bring to mind a local event . Recently in a nearby town someone thought a greyhaired man was looking at children playing. It was spread on facebook. The results: some greyhaired guy got 3 broken ribs for taking a walk.
HE, should have had a gun to use the Castle law to stop that beating.
You see....I disagree with that law, even though I just wrote that comment.
Her kid is dead. She gets a very wide berth here, despite the obvious questions.
ReplyDeleteI wonder when the media will show the updated pictures of the kid and not the 15 yr. old angelic ones. That's not how he looks. what about the pictures with the tattoos all over and the grillwork.
ReplyDeleteWhat about the drug suspensions?
People may be surprised how this is being played without so much as anything close to an airing of the facts.
Shame about the death but lets be accurate.
Turns out Trayvon was a declared enemy of civilized society, with multiple school suspensions, whose Twitter handle was No_Limit_Nigger.
ReplyDeleteHe was shot by a mixed race Hispanic who has significant injuries from an altercation. I doubt if Obama had a kid, he would have been such a problem for authorities and school officials.
Mom raised a real winner. Her apple did not fall far from its tree, apparently.
little boy got what he reaped and welfare mom wants money. same old same old
ReplyDeleteCapri,
ReplyDeleteJust what illusionist drugs are you on?
"Her kid is dead. She gets a very wide berth here, despite the obvious questions."
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
I recall when Kurt Cobain died, malls and catalogs all over America were selling "RIP Kurt" shirts (some with the death certificate on the back) like hot cakes. None of them paid money to the estate. I suspect the mother is not trying to cash in on her son, more keep other leaches from taking advantage of the feeling of America to make a quick buck on a dead kid.
ReplyDeleteI also notice the comments in favor of the shooter, always are loaded with latent racism. Jut flashback to when Bernie showed the Tazer video. Yes, this is really five decades since the "I have a dream speech". Sadly, we still have a long way to go for many.
ReplyDeleteAnon 3:41, how about the time in 2005 Mr. Zimmerman was charged with assaulting an LEO? Sure charges were dropped, but why were they filed in the first place? Also, what about the issue with domestic abuse for Mr. Zimmerman?
ReplyDeleteI know if some strange dude was following me in his car, then gets out and tries to grab me, I would punch him in the face. The guy was a renegade.
He was the self-appointed leader of an unsanctioned Neighborhood Watch. The National Sheriff's Association (an organization I belong to) oversees Neighborhood Watch. You are NOT to carry a sidearm in NW. You are NOT to act as the police in NW. And the 911 operator told Zimmerman NOT to follow the person, yet he disobeyed those commands. But I'm speaking to deaf ears, you are just looking for an excuse to coddle your questionable views.
And what is the difference between trademarking this name, or Susan G. Komen if the idea is for advocacy?
ReplyDelete"You are NOT to carry a sidearm in NW. You are NOT to act as the police in NW. And the 911 operator told Zimmerman NOT to follow the person, yet he disobeyed those commands."
ReplyDeleteYes, because only the overweight, union thug, overtime abusing, wife-beating, colleague shooting, donut eating bodyguards of the trough deserve that privilege.

ReplyDeleteMaybe a good thing HE WAS carrying a sidearm, despite the arrogant opinion of those more knowledgeable and just plain more deserving of carrying a weapon than the rest of us.

Thank you Clem.
ReplyDeleteOld superior Spike deserved that.
"Old" (Funny I'm 32) Spike works in Law Enforcement. What do you do?
ReplyDeleteOdd anon 3:41 that the victim had that Twitter account. It never started till his death and is twitting now. https://twitter.com/#!/No_Limit_Nigger
ReplyDeleteBut I know you just wanted a reason to say that one word for once in your life and not get called racist.
Another poster here claiming the victim had ink, and "grill work". Why stop there with racial stereotypes?
And plenty of law abiding people have tattoos. By assuming someone with tattoos is a criminal makes one a prejudice bigot in my view.
2:46am, Look out, there's nothing that racists hate more than being called bigots!
ReplyDeleteTo that end, I think its worth pointing out that the pictures circulating of a man with "grill work" and tattoos is actually a picture of a DIFFERENT person named Trayvon Martin but I guess its too much to ask for some people to look at the faces of two completely different people and note that they don't look anything alike and are not the same person.
The updated photo is accurate.
ReplyDeleteThat twitter account is not Trayvon Martin. If it is he is tweeting from the grave right now.
ReplyDeleteClem posted some link to patterico. I see all that blog does is cover things black skinned people do. President Obama being their number one target. The only white person that blogger seems to focus any negativity on is Brad Friedman. And well again makes me question who patterico's target demo is.
Putting a bounty on Zimmerman's head by the Black Panthers seems to be OK with all you self-righteous liberals.
ReplyDeleteThe bounty is just as wrong as Zimmerman's vigilante tactics. But again, try all you want to justify your anger towards black people I guess. Talk about self-righteous.
ReplyDeleteSo anon 8:45 people with tattoos are scum in your view? I hope you have the pair to tell the thousands of service members loaded with ink they are hoods. Or the countless police officers with plenty of ink. Or all the hipsters who work in offices, and raise a family in suburbia who are covered in ink.
ReplyDeleteYeah you people are not bigots. Just ignore your stereotyping people because how they look.
Capri,
ReplyDeleteGo back on your meds, honey.
Here is Mr. Zimmerman shortly after the shooting on Police surveillance video.
ReplyDeleteIf he had so much damage to his face and head, you can't see it here:
