Late last week, Jackson Eaton's Congressional campaign announced that it filed nomination petition with twice the number of signatures needed to get on the ballot. That would mean about 2,000 signatures. According to Eaton, that's a "a show of strength."
Really?
Well, then he better move over for someone who's twice as strong. LV Congressman Charlie Dent filed nomination petitions containing 4,000 signatures, which is four times the amount needed. Dent, I'm told, was particularly gratified by the support from three new counties (Berks, Dauphin and Lebanon) in the 15th District.
"I want to thank everyone who took the time to sign a petition for me and especially those who volunteered to circulate a petition to get their friends' and neighbors' signatures. This was a great effort that was outstandingly successful," said Congressman Dent.
Although I don't have an exact total for Rick Daugherty, the third candidate in this race. I do know he was able to garner petitions in big numbers from all counties. Eaton, in contrast, had only six signatures from Lebanon County. In Berks and Dauphin, he had none.
Updated Sunday, 2 PM: Rick Daugherty tells me, "I received around 1880 total signatures with 100 from Lebanon, 200 from Dauphin, and 46 from Berks."
Updated again, Sunday, 8:26 PM: Turns out Jackson Eaton did have one Petition from berks with 50 signatures.

Rick Daugherty is a joke. Charlie Dent will eat him alive. Jackson Eaton is new to Lehigh Valley politics and will still beat the pants off of Daugherty in the primary.
I hear Daugherty was almost Impeached as chair of his party and most of the people in Lehigh County Democrats group are supporting Jackson Eaton. Do you know if this is true?
I don't know if "impeached" is the right word, but do know he is unpopular with some members within his local party hierarchy. From what I know, most do support Eaton.
Game on!
Dent will win; after all he's got the evil genius (Shawn Millan) running his campaign!
Like Charlie (or any other politician) actually pounded the pavement for all those signatures...
What a waste of time, doesn't add any true value to the system!
why does a sitting pol even have to bother? Sounds a little silly to me.
Callahan plans to run for another local office and position himself to go at Dent in a future election.
Taken together, the nearly 4000 signatures for dem is quite impressive. Dent cant take this for granted.
Charlie has never knocked on my door. I doubt he's knocked on any. He sends mail using taxpayers' money. It's rather Orwellian.
Charlie Dent knocks on plenty of doors. In fact, he jogs from house to house. When one Democrat's dog took off, it is Charlie Dent who ran the canine down and brought it back. You can criticize Dent for lots of things, but not this.
It looks like charlie has seen a gost in this picture, because of the local level of political parasitism has not yet implicated him yet.
Collectively, Dems mustered up nearly 4K in Lehigh County alone!
Could there be some revelations in Dent's Lehigh County total?
