Barron Tries To Defend Crime Victim Snub

Yesterday, I told you that Northampton County Controller Steve Barron snubbed a crime victim he had previously offered to help. His damage control machine went into high gear, with personal attacks aimed at me and my readers. Even the crime victim Susan Eagle, was herself victimized again. Barron topped it all off with his own, self-serving explanation. But waiting in the wings was none other than Ms. Eagle, and she had an answer for Barron.

Barron:

I read this post and felt your readers deserve some additional facts you failed to mention. The impression you leave is that I met this woman, promised results to her I could not deliver and then blew her off. This is simply not true.

My first contact with Ms. Eagle was 4/1/2011 when she provided me details to follow up on. I wanted to share my e-mail with your readers:
In a message dated 4/2/2011 8:14:29 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, SBarron@northamptoncounty.org writes:
Susan,
It was great meeting you last evening. I will talk to Leigh Ann Fisher on Monday about this and see what we can resolve. No worries. While I can't promise I'll get you the money any faster at least you'll have the most accurate and up to date information.
I'll do my best and try and make sure the PO and or courts work hard to get the money to you as fast as they can.
All the Best,
Stephen J. Barron, Jr.

You will note I clearly state that I can’t promise I will get her money any faster. I did make contact with Leigh Ann Fisher as well as folks in the Northampton County Sheriff’s Department to see what could be done.

The last e-mail I received from Ms. Eagle was on 5/31/2011 and I felt I had done everything I could to put her in contact with those who could work with her.

I was not contacted again until the evening of 1/3/12 and intended to follow up after making inquiries about the status of this matter. This was immediately before the 1/5/12 Council meeting.

I sympathize with Ms. Eagle. It is a difficult situation and sadly there are far too many county residents in the same situation.

However, to say that I promised more than I could deliver or did nothing is not true at all.

Sincerely,

Stephen J. Barron, Jr.
Northampton County Controller

I see. As reader Barron von Footinmouth aptly observes, "Jesus H! My nom de blog is apparently well earned. In the above excerpt, I provide proof that I said I'd get her the money - just not any faster - right before I promise to get her the dough as fast as possible - right before I blow her off because I'm a bullshitting idiot who just wanted a crime victim's vote."

But wait! Another person chimes in. Susan Eagle, the crime victim who Barron snubbed, tells us this (I have slightly edited her response):

I was not going to respond to Mr. Barrons message but feel at this point I have no choice, I have sent numerous emails to Mr Barron  5/5/2011 at 5:43:30 AM EST, 5/31/2011 5:47:55 AM EST and again on 1/2/2012 8:37:10 PM  Not one of these emails was even acknowledged by Mr Barron. His response to me on Thursday at the council meeting was that he did'nt respond to me because he didnt have anything to tell me. Why, because he had done nothing further about the issue or because he was simply blowing me off? Quite simply, if I had recieved a response in regard to my inquiries, I would most likely not have been at the County Council meeting. If you tell a citizen you are going to do something then do it and at the very least acknowledge them when they call or email you. This is all I was asking for and this is not what I received. As for the person who thinks I should spend my own hard worked for money to go after these 2 individuals I think not. The County Court issued a judgment against these 2. It is the county's responsibilty to collect on it. I have provided a lot of information to the county on both of these individuals. It was easy to find and they should have been able to find it also, but in my opinion someone is not doing their job. For every month that either of these 2 defendants don't pay, they are telling the county "F You" and they know the county will do nothing about it and they are right.

I'm going to find out exactly how much money our Courts have failed to collect from deadbeat Defendants, and I'm going to ask the Courts to explain how this is called criminal justice. Barron can continue playing games.

No one really cares, except for dolan. she has a crush. they deserve each other both wind bags would look terrible in skirts.

  2. Actually, we should all care that we can be victimized and never see a nickel in restitution. We should all care when an elected official takes it upon himself to exceed his authority, but can't even be accountable to a crime victim.

  3. I also will add I think Karen Dolan looks pretty good in a skirt. Steve, not so much.

  4. How are you going to get this information Bernie? Gonna threaten a few county employees as per your usual MO?

    ReplyDelete
  5. I will get this information because it is a public record and something we all have a right to know. You can throw roadblocks up, and I will knock each one of them down, as I have done many times before. It amazes me how the wagons circle when someone perceives that Barron von Footinmouth will look like a fool.

that old council hag? Angle has better legs, you should know that. Bo, try to have some class and return to TM. At least you could get the pig. Your standards are really getting poor.

  7. Bernie, if Barron wanted too or if he had the political stones, couldn't he do either a financial or a financial/performance audit on this area of county government. This was something John Schimmel did all the time. Of course John was a professional who knew his job and worked the hours.

As it appears the one thing Barron could do is shake things up a bit by letting the courts and the DA know he is going to be checking out how they are handling this program. Of course that would take political courage and no fear of offending anyone that you want to support your future political ambitions.

So Bernie as I see it there is actually something Barron could try but he would never do it in a million years. No votes and possible powerful enemies, such is the dilemma of the political opportunist.

The boy is in over his head. He is lucky he has some of the Callahan Clan covering his arse.

  8. Instead of maintaining his independence and auditing the DA, he testifies for him.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Maybe people circle to defend Barron cause they like him and he does a good job. Seriously, when you don't like someone you stretch any little thing to make it an "issue" in your warped sense of reality.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Barron testifies for the DA as he is an expert and has credibility. His testimony is one less expert witness fee the county has to pay. What he is doing actually saves taxpayers money!

    ReplyDelete
  11. When Barron testifies for the DA, he compromises his independence. Moreover, I have heard all about his testimony. I'm sure the DA would do better to just hire someone.

  12. "Maybe people circle to defend Barron cause they like him and he does a good job."

When Barron snubs a crime victim after promising to help her, he is not doing a "good job" and deserves no admiration.

what a bitter old wart you are. you have no morals or shame. just a desire to destroy everything and everyone, just as you have destroyed yourself and you legacy.

Even those who you supposedly care about know the evil that you are.

You are not worthy to wash my feet

  14. Ok Tim, we get it.

  15. This is all such pious baloney. You're having fun trying to ruin a man's reputation on a whim - this has nothing to do with his job, or the issues, or what the taxpayers deserve. This is clearly a put up job, changing direction every so often as key belements of the deception are revealed, helped along by self servers and haters.

  16. So now the County Controller is not only a Union lobbyist but a crime victim advocate? Doesn't the Controller's position have to do with Accounting?

    ReplyDelete
  17. I posted at 10:49 AM a few days ago:

"an elected official who blows off
"anybody" without some kind of help is truly not a public servant!

Does not necessarily have to be their area of responsibllity. If not, get a job where you don't ever have to help anyone if you choose not to do so is my opinion."

I sure don't understand folks who suggest the "not my job" defense for not helping "anyone" who asks, especially as a publicly elected official! Union folks do that all the time when asked to perform a simple task that is not in their job description but a public servant does not have that option is my honest opinion.

As a Bethlehem City Councilman, I helped steer many for help with the BASD. Same when I was a BASD board member steering folks to help solve concerns with the city.

Sometime the steering helps and sometimes not but getting back to the people with reasons is most important to me. The only real job we have in life, boiled down to basics, is to help each other! This is especially important if one claims to be a public servant.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Larry you did a great job of describing the difference between a "politician" and a true "public servant".

Mr. Barron has time and again shown himself to be an immature politician.

    ReplyDelete
  19. All Hail Larry K. the man never met a mirror he didn't like

  20. I think the interaction between 6.13 and 6.29 sums it all up. 6.13 can't understand how the facts or the truth have nothing to with your desire to get people you don't like. 6.29 does get it, is on your side on this one, and is impatient to get on with the crucifixion.

Just as well only 14 people read this shit, Bernie.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Do you county job seekers really think Steve Barron can get elected county Executive? Do you really think that his bonehead actions in the short time he has held an "office", won't have opponents Democratic and Republican tearing him to shreds.

The guy is a known political opportunist and suck up.

The idea of Steve Barron running the county is as frightening and laughable as wee willie Reynolds being mayor.

    ReplyDelete
  22. "Just as well only 14 people read this shit, Bernie."

Looks like you're one of them.

  23. Larry did do a great job, and for that he is anonymously attacked. Figures.

    ReplyDelete
  24. "Doesn't the Controller's position have to do with Accounting?"

At the same time, Barron was encouraging a group of union employees to complain about asbestos. While the County's financial adviser was laying out swaption options, Barron was in the hallway, talking to them.

    Amazing.

Yes I am. Like you, I'm in the fortunate position of enjoying and having the time to indulge in political back and forths of this kind. And like you I am woefully out of touch with what the voters and taxpayers real concerns are (I admit it). I just don't profit off it, economically or, in your case, otherwise.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I see. Unlike me, you lack the personal integrity to identify yourself, preferring instead to lob grenades anonymously. And given your self-admitted disconnect from reality, one can only conclude that this desire to remain anonymous is nothing more than cowardice. After all, you don't benefit financially for your slime.

It's pretty clear that, once again, Barron has managed to make an ass out of himself. His attempts at damage control are laughably obvious. His attempt to defend his snub was rebutted by the crime victim herself.

So now, assholes like you come on this blog and attack me or anyone who agrees with me by trying to shout us down. Anonymously, of course. What you really do is give us more credibility.

    ReplyDelete
  27. OMG..Mr. Kisslinger,

I can't believe that you actually said that Union folks who are ask to perform a simple job not in their job description use the defense, " not my Job"..All union folks??Really..Saying that destroys any credibility you have to speak on anything..It just shows you as another far right wing nut who has completely lost their mind...Since most of the city employees who were there under your tenure were of course union, I must assume from your statement that you believe they were all, and still are, lazy..Sad Larry, sad..

    ReplyDelete
  28. Anons like 1:22PM who comment and
    won't identify themselves are the
very sad ones indeed! I don't ever
    take anons very seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Someones been sniffin' the nail polish again!!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Whether you take anons seriously, Larry, or not, does not change what you said..you shouldn't generalize when speaking about any issue.

    ReplyDelete
  31. OK, not all Controllers' are lazy lispy skirt wearers just the one that is Northampton County Controller.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hey maybe he's a lumber jack, and that's OK!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yo Bernie. The Rev is having some problems on his blog. He blames you too. Apparently he has been deleting comments. He came on to explain that it was you trying to hijack his blog.

Some of the people deleted are very much for Gracedale but not for Barron Von Footinmouth. Since the blog now seems to be a Barron political advertisement some of the people that are not Barron fans are none too happy.

I guess at least some of the pro-Gracedale folks have the sense to realize that Footinmouth is not really their friend but more a liability.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Did Jesus tell Mario Martinez I was hijacking his blog? I have read his charge, and all I can say is that I have made no comment there since the last time he, MaryAnn Schmoyer, Tricia Mezzacappa, Jack & Peggy D'Alessandro and their "blog mentor" defamed me on that site. I will be addressing that in another venue soon enough.

I do delete comments. I delete anonymous personal attacks aimed at private individuals. I will delete some anonymous personal attacks at public officials, although I am more lax about them.

That blog no longer has much to do about Gracedale It seeps with hatred, masked by false piety. Disagreement on an issue is fine. But to call someone a pedophile or taunt a person with childish remarks about penis size, or to claim someone is corrupt, with nothing to back it up, is simply outrageous. To wish for someone's death, as they have, is the ultimate curse condemned by any good God. To do this while claiming God is on their side is hypocritical.

I would suggest that you man up, identify yourself, and comment there again. Force them to admit their lies.

Stop being an anonymous coward like them, and own your words. You'll like yourself more.

    ReplyDelete
  35. in response to your latest claim, the only pedophile claim on our site is for that joke of a priest is that angry priest that comes on here and cant hold a job. He got chased out of the county and now lobs pot shots with his holier than thou attitude. He used to go to the gracedale free lunches and eat steak and shrimp. He is the fake reverend. Not our fearless leader.

    ReplyDelete
  36. You just demonstrated again, anonymously, that you drip with hatred. Anonymously, of course. Jesus would be proud. In addition, you are a liar. There is comment after comment on your hate blog accusing me of unspeakable acts.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Exceed his authority or simply doing a favor? The guy is a Controller.

As an objective party, it seems like this piece was written with a large chip on your shoulder.

    ReplyDelete
  38. That's right. He's a Controller, not a County Exec, and should act like a Controller, not a County Exec. And whatever the circumstances, he has an obligation to respond to any taxpayer who sends him multiple emails, especially after he promised to help that person.

If that makes me someone with a chip on my shoulder, we should have a few more people with chips on their shoulders.

    ReplyDelete
  39. His attempt to defend his snub was rebutted by the crime victim herself.

I didnt see that as a rebuttal. I read it as saying the same things Barron said but with moral indignation.

    ReplyDelete
  40. You didn't see that as a rebuttal bc you are doing damage control and trying (and failing) to defend an elected official who snubbed a crime victim.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Wait a minute Bernie, isn't Lord Barron the county executive in waiting?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Brains!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Not only county executive in waiting but he thinks he can take on Boscola for Senate. The boy has ambition. No common sense but ambition. Now if he would only apply some of that to his actual job.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Don't be a hypocrite, Bernie. If it wasn't for anonymous posts, this blog would be dead in a month, and all your feigned righteous indignation with it.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Look, I do not oppose anonymous comments. What I do oppose are anonymous personal attacks from cowardly slime like you. Is that too difficult for you to understand?

    ReplyDelete
  46. "Will Soffa and Harp pay as much attention to all the other people in the same boat as Ms. Harp?"

That is their job. If someone like Mrs Eagle complains to them, they have and do look into those complaints. They do it with people all over the County and with all kinds of complaints, every single day. They do not blow off people the way Barron did.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I am deleting OT comments about my commenting policy. If someone wants to take issue with that, send me an email. If not, tough.

    ReplyDelete
  48. He really think she can take Boscola's seat. the boy has issues. I would love to see him try.
