From Newlins Mill Road, in Palmer Township, you can see a plume of black smoke billowing from the Nicos Polymer fire, seven miles away. This shot was taken at 3 PM, ten hours after the fire was first reported.
At that distance, the smell of burnt plastic could also be detected.
The silver lining to this dark cloud is that nobody was hurt.

could it be that the company was just sold? FIRE SALE!!!!!!!!
Wasn't there a plastic company fire just a few weeks ago?
Yes, there was another one recently.
epa says it takes 500 years for plastics to decompose in a landfill. How do they know? we haven't had plastics for 500 years
It is real big news, WNEP from Scranton had it as a top story. They are the Arsonist's News Station. A empty shed fire will trump a homicide at WNEP.
It is also where Bill O'Reilly & Bobby Gunther Walsh got their big breaks in the 1970's.
As for the fire, I suspect the State Police fire inspectors will be busy there and 7 miles away in Palmer. Seems odd plastic plants are burning, and where Volunteer Companies put out fires.
Why did the township permit use of a drought stricken pond for this company's fire fighting purposes?
Morning Bernie, I don't think anyone of us can appreciate the dedication and training involved with our firemen until that individual has lived through a fire. Our volunteers are non paid professionals. God bless them all.
COuld not agree with Spike more I interned and WNEP and there news picking is a joke. He is right a burning shed will trump a murder any day. They produced cheap garbage news and for some reason Scranton loves them. The only one entertaining on that station is their wacky morning weathermen Joe. Even though he is nuts on the air at least it is entertaining to watch. I just can't stomach another freaking newscast they have a 5 530 6 am and a 430 5 530 6 7 and 11 pm pluse their crap on their so called deuce station. All it is to me is a big pile of s*#$
Well said, Carol.

Maybe because there was no running water in the vicinity and it was a close source. I suppose they could have let the fire burn on and spread.
pretty sure the thing did just burn on.
