Lehigh Making Farmers Market Vouchers Available to Seniors

If you live in Lehigh County, are 60 years old or older, and on a tight budget, you are more than likely eligible to participate in the Farmers Market Nutrition Program.
Lehigh County's Office of Aging and Adult Service employees is handing out vouchers while supplies last.

Are you eligible?

Total gross household income is not more than $20,147 for a single person, $27,214 for married couples, and $34,281 for 3 persons, and $41,348 for 4 persons. Proof of age and residency must be provided. Participants will be required to sign that they read and understand their rights and responsibilities.

How about if you're under 60 but want to pick up vouchers on behalf of a family member or friend in his golden years?

Get a proxy. Those forms can be obtained by calling the Information and Referral Unit at (610) 782-3200. You can get up to four of them.

What is a voucher?

It gives you up to $5 in fresh fruits and vegetables from a designated farmers market. You can't use it at your grocery. A single person is eligible to receive four $5 vouchers and couples eight $5 vouchers one time only.

Farmers Market Vouchers will be distributed at the following senior centers:

Fri., June 3 1:30-3:00 pm at Casa Guadalupe Senior Center, 141 Linden St, Allentown

You own views are appreciated, especially if they differ from mine. But remember, commenting is a privilege, not a right. I will delete personal attacks or off-topic remarks at my discretion. Comments that play into the tribalism that has consumed this nation will be declined. So will comments alleging voter fraud unless backed up by concrete evidence. If you attack someone personally, I expect you to identify yourself. I will delete criticisms of my comment policy, vulgarities, cut-and-paste jobs from other sources and any suggestion of violence towards anyone. I will also delete sweeping generalizations about mainstream parties or ideologies, i.e. identity politics.
