In a moving essay, Alan Jennings appears stunned by President Obama's proposed reductions in CDBG funding, which will affect nearly half of his funding at CACLV. As Jeff Pooley observes, "This will hurt poor people all over the country, but it will hit hardest here in the Valley, where CACLV is far and away the most important advocate for the poor."
Although LV Congressman Charlie Dent has previously stated there are no "sacred cows," his office reports that he and two other Congressmen were expected to propose a measure to preserve funding for valued and effective programs in 15th District, including Assistant for Firefighters Grants (AFG), Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS), Community Services Block Grants (CSBG), hydrogen and fuel cell technology programs, Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grants, the Weed and Seed program, and more.
When I get more detail, I'll share it.

jennings is always bemoaning something. biggest cry baby in the valle. What you want to bet he voted for obama?
That would be great, but isn't the real point that none of these things contribute to the deficit, and so they shouldn't be cut at all, in anyone's district?
CDBGs are not accelerating as a fraction of the economy like health care costs are. We don't have to cut them now, we don't have to cut them ever. It won't make a shred of difference to the deficit. If you care about the deficit the only things you should be thinking about cutting are Medicare Medicare Medicare.
The cuts to discretionary programs are about cutting off people and programs who are out of favor with the Republican Party - i.e. poor people, women, minorities.
Hydrogen is an energy storage system, not an energy source.
It also happens to be a storage system that requires lots of fossil fuels (and pollution) to produce.
100% total waste. Can't believe this guy still supports it.

If you read Alan's essay, you'll know he did. I'd be crying, too, if I lost half my funding.
Geeting blames Rs, but ought to check with Cuomo's office in NY or Brown's office in CA to see that they're doing the same thing as Christie in NJ and Walker in WI.
The reality of Obamanomics is a cruel one. Government cannot create wealth or value. Remember when Nancy Pelosi made a case to put us all on extended unemployment because its return on investment was so tremendous? It reminded me of the commercial featuring a company run by monkeys whose investment strategy for the firm was to buy scratch-off lottery tickets.
The trickle-down effect took two years to hit the desperately poor. This is the new new. Not exactly the change we were promised. And now we have all the debt he ran up. We went on a bender and the hangover will cost lives and last generations. We are Europe now. I believe that's what the president wanted.

That's right! Once they starve of all the poor people, lynch all the minorities, get women back in the kitchen, and have the elderly thrown into the streets to die they are guaranteed to win every election.
It's a brilliant plan and you're very perceptive to discern it. Keep up the good work!
Oh, nevermind...
Jon, we've got it all wrong. It was the President that wants to cut the money for poverty programs in half. So using the same logic... poor people, women, & minorities are out of favor with the President & his party.
Glad we have that straight now!
