Obama Targeted in Roseto Parish? No Big Deal, Says Priest

"What's the big deal about this?"

According to an Express Times letter to the editor, a recent Roseto church festival included a shooting game whose target was "an unmistakable image of President Obama." Apparently, everyone was blasting away. Good times.

Reporter Doug Brill tracked down the owner of this game, which does include a cartoonish portrait of some black guy with a Presidential seal belt buckle and the "health bill" in his right hand. Brill also talked to Pastor Jim Prior, who claims "we abhor it but it's the way of the world."

Father Prior must read blogs.

Funny thing. According to the letter to the editor, the Pastor refused to do anything and told them to take it up with the other pastor, but they could never find him.

I did. His name is Prior, too. Thomas Prior. Prior & Prior. Are these priests or a law firm?

After claiming to know nothing and telling me I could not use his name, Father Tom asked, "What's the big deal about this?"

Oh, I don't know. The Secret Service might think it's a big deal.

How about God, Father Tom? I don't have your connections, but don't you think this bothers Him , too?

  1. Not if it brought money into their pockets, would they be worried.

  2. well, you do have to put things in context. this is the same institution that didn't find pederasty to be that big of a deal either...

  3. That's terrible. Especially since I knew older people in my fmaily that didn't consider Italians to be white people and referred to them as "dagos" and "wops." There but for the grace of God, there go I.

  4. Reaping what is sown, maybe. But it is not racially motivated.

Disrespect for Obama stems from his incompetence, arrogance and general dumbing down of the office of POTUS.

And dumbing down, for you lazy folks who want to make it about race, refers to the way he conducts himself - from "looking for whose ass to kick" to bowing to foreign leaders, to his association with SEIU, to going on the View to prop up his lousy ratings.

If he were the intelligent, competent, unparalled and transformative messiah as advertised, you'd have seen people ripping that game down.

  5. If that target would have been of a New York Yankee, the Prior brothers would have condemned that amusement operator directly to hell.

  6. "we abhor it but it's the way of the world."

Opinions of the President aside, what is the message the Church sends to the children at the festival?

Had it been the Pope, Jesus, or the BVM, would the "good Father" have let it go during the festival, as just "the way of the world"???

  7. ANON 9:06AM,

You obviously cannot get past your own personal politics to see this for what it is - a game to shoot POTUS at a festival that is sanctioned by a church. That. Is. Not. Right.

And for dumbing down the presidency, please refer back to George Bush circa 2001-2008. Telling us to go shop after 9/11; Committing us to war in Iraq with no evidence that there were WMBs or links to the Talaban or Bin Laden; Flying onto a warship and proclaiming victory in a war that is still ongoing; And VP Cheney stating that "deficits don't matter."

You are a sad, sad, misguided human being ANON 9:06.

  9. 12:25 -

Anyone who still puts stock in the Catholic church has more to wretch over than my opinion of Obama.

Baptized a Catholic, I long ago gave up on a church protects pedophiles, is largely anti-Semitic, and is mostly concerned with amassing and hoarding wealth and building massive bureaucracy.

Back to my original point, I AGREED that we are reaping what has been sown. I am neither surprised this happened at a church, nor that there were participants who enjoyed it. It truly is, as the priest put it, they way of the world - the world that thinks Jersey Shore is quality TV.

  18. Anon 12:25 has a problem with "VP Cheney stating that "deficits don't matter."

Ummmmm.....and how much have the deficits - and the national debt - grown since Cheney and Bush left office? Seems to me that the people who replaced them don't seem to think deficits matter too much, either...
