Can You Say President Ron Angle?

When Northampton County's new Council is sworn in next January, seven of its nine members will be Republican. It's a safe bet that Democrat Ann McHale will lose the presidency.

So who gets it? Peg Ferraro is top vote getter and has every right to expect the presidency. Reverend Mike Dowd is a past president who always manages to stay above the fray, and would be another excellent choice.

But I suspect both Ferraro and Dowd will pass on the opportunity, and for good reason. For one thing, Council has been in turmoil since 2005. It needs a firm hand on the tiller. For another, the County is on the verge of some far-reaching decisions that could set a new course, and in the right direction, for the next fifty years.

One person can best make that happen. Ron Angle. Yes, he's obnoxious, confrontational and sometimes, needlessly divisive. He's also the smartest person I've ever seen in local government.

Angle is already rigging the PA system at the Courthouse to play Ruffles and Flourishes every time he enters the building.

  1. I thought Seyfried was the smartest guy in County Governemnt.

Actually, I agree with the part about Angle becoming President. It would be the absolute cherry on the sundae that is the clusterfuck known as Northampton County Government.

The County will finally become the most dysfunctional governemnt in the World.

Angle for Council President but as a taxpayer please charge to get the webcast as a pay-per-view show. We need the money!

  4. Give Ron power ? Hasn't Ron had to "pay the money back" a few times when he was "in power" ?

  6. Between her lost election, her lack of usefulness as liason to the prison, and her eminent ousting as Council Prez, can Anna be any more of a relic?

Well hell didn't freeze over, so what are Angle's chances?

  8. Anonymous 7:36, if I remember correctly he had to repay $15,000 from the Snyder fiasco.

  11. Angle may resign from council at the end of the year. And Cusick could be the strongest candidate for Prez.

  12. I hope Angle does become President, 2 years of that and the Democrats have a better shot of picking up seats.

  13. I'd rather utter President Ron Angle, President Ann McHale, or even President Charles Dertinger than I would -

    President Obama.

    That guy is a traitor.

  15. "President Obama. That guy is a traitor."

    Hey, that is blatant blasphemy.

Besides, somebody (not O'Hare) might have to put up another self-righteous lecturing post about partisanship at their blogsite later.

  16. A County Executive that hasn't read his job discrption after four years, a right-wing fundamentalist County Council that plans to outlaw abortion in Northampton County, and grape nuts Ron Angle as the Council President. Please tell me I am not dreaming!

That sounds like more fun than watching the monkey's at the Zoo hurl their shit at the visitors. I can't wait.

  17. Just wanted to say thank you for the prayers and warm wishes.

My condition has gotten worse. I think what tipped them off, is when I lost my balance and fell again. The doctors are citing exhaustion with a second case of bronchitis. This will be the second year, in a row, where I have become too ill to focus on my studies. Someone wants me to have a difficult ascention to the priesthood. My superiors are on board 100%, but I am afraid time is running out.

I might have to get hospitalized again if my condition doesn't improve over the weekend. It has been hard for me to breathe, walk up stairs, and stand for long periods of time.

Don't they know I have important schoolwork that I need to research and complete? Come on! Give me a break.

    Peace, ~~Alex

    I am a loser.

  19. Angle will never take the position of president of council. His modus operandi is to stir the pot. He loves to blame others when things go wrong. Thats what he does best.

The position will go to either Peg Ferraro or Mike Dowd. They give and take respect. Angle likes to smashmouth. Bad qualities for president of council.

  20. When Ron was a Lower Mt. Bethel Supervisor, didn't he have to pay money back that he wasn't entitled to keep ?

  21. Yes, reward this self proclaimed working class hero by appointing him to head the legislative body he has done his best to destroy. Instead of a gavel give this brownshirt a zippo lighter shades of 1930s Germany. He can fiddle while the Reichstag burns.

  23. Angle should be President. Mike Dowd is a spineless hypocrite who claims to be a man of the cloth while stbbing people in the back.

Peg Ferraro is a weak retired schoolteacher who is a fierce partisan who should not be the President of Council.

I agree Angle is the best choice I hope the two remaining Democrats support him.

  24. Sorry, Margaret "Peg" Ferraro, 70, of Upper Nazareth Twp., has it all locked up. Ron loses, again.

  25. It's going to radical fundaMENTAList teabagger Gilbert I am sure.
They will come out of their trailers for council meetings.

  26. Ron is the man. He would make a much better Council President than old Peg. She would be worse than Grube was.

I keep trying to say "President Ron Angle" but when I open my mouth to speak the only thng that comes out is "President Peg Ferraro"

Perhaps becasue she works well with others and has consistenetly been the top vote getter, indicating that she is the peoples choice.

  28. What's a pick line? And why do they have to shoot the anti-botics directly to my heart? If my veins can't handle the anti-botics, why would my heart be better equipped to handle the anti-botics?

    Peace, ~~Alex

  29. Angle doesn't want to be President. It would force him out of his element as attack dog. He would rather torment a council prez with his antics. Ferraro is too nice and concientious to run that circus. Queen Ann has little control, she would have less. Rev. Dowd is too conciliatory for the mob. That leaves Cusick, arguably the smartest, most energetic and no-nonsense member of council. That's my pick.

  30. Wow, another "smartest" councilman. Why not let these guys come up with a solution for healthcare.

No offense but I think some County Councils's of the past had more class and intelligence in their little finger than this group of clowns and posers.

    ReplyDelete
  31. It's not "another." I have always maintained that Angle is by far the smartest person I've ever seen in local government. Jerry has the most encyclopedic knowledge of the Home Rule Charter.

But as a body, County Council has deterioraterd, especially over the last four years. Ironiocally, the last really good council is the one that adopted the $111 MM megabond. They were a good group who stayed away from personal attacks.

The Council that succeeeded them was more often than not like a deer in the headlights, never knwing what to do.

Then Dertinger, Neiper and McClure took the opposite approach, thinking they know everything.

Now that Peg has been elected and Joe Cap and Jerry are on board, Council has changed dramatically for the better.

  32. Cusick is a Party follower who has dreams of higher office. Not the best choice for Council Presidency.

  33. How truly unfortunate that Mr. Bulldog Angle can't use his perverted intelligence in a productive manner instead of needing the constant PR that his soul needs. Yes, Anonymous 9:44 he had to repay monies back to Upper Mt. Bethel.

    ReplyDelete
  34. He isn't that smart. Heartless yes but not that smart. He acts like a three year old at meetings and Ohare thinks that is intelligence.
