Lorraine M Pasquali is a Democratic activist who believes the Bush administration must still be held accountable for its misdeeds. "From the politicization of the Department of Justice, to the illegal wiretaps, to the illegal invasion of Iraq, the Bush administration forged ahead as if the the rule of law no longer mattered. When we fail to hold executive powers to those prescribed in our Constitution, it no longer does." She clearly has an interest in national issues, but is pretty much clueless when it comes to county government.
In the video above, she throws out catch phrases like "economic development" and "open space" with no indication of any specifics. Would she subsidize a business in the hope to promote economic development? In open space, is her primary focus farmland preservation or environmentally sensitive lands? We just don't know.
In her responses to The Express Times Voter Guide, she fails to distinguish between passenger rail and the prohibitively more expensive light rail. Despite her basic unawareness of local issues, she has attended no meetings to prepare herself for local government. "I have relied on media reporting and ballot questions to keep me informed of the Council's activities."
Ballot questions keep her informed?
Pasquali is the weakest of the Democratic candidates. In her myspace page, which she last visited on April 23rd, she actually starts quoting herself.
We can do better.

I think your comments on Lorraine were rather unfair to say the least. She is NOT clueless. It is so hard to put yourself out there for ridicule People don't have to coddle a candidate, but perhaps show them (especially a first time candidate) a little respect for being willing to step up to the plate and run...
ReplyDeleteShe gets credit for stepping up to the plate. I give her credit on the national issues facing this country. But she is clueless when it comes to local issues. What's worse, she's made no effort to inform herself. She learns about county issues by reading ballot questions? Give me a break. I stand by my comment. Perhaps I could put it more diplomatically, but she is way behind the curve.
ReplyDeleteLeave Stoffa on the Sofa,
ReplyDeleteVote for Loraine Pasquali!
Pasquali isn't running against Stoffa, McHale is.
ReplyDeleteWANT A LOFFA, ELECT STOFFA!
ReplyDeleteI reluctantly agree with Anon 1:11. It is so hard to run a first-time campaign, and the County incumbents and machine members are no help.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I side with Bernie and will not support Lorraine in her first run because anyone who seeks election should do their homework! I don't want to endure a first year Councilwoman who knows NOTHING. Lorraine, study up! That's the candidate's job.
